Happy Friday the 13th!
Yes, and anyone who wants to flirt with, or embarrass my xenobotanist feel free. She is supposed to be quite attractive after all, it would make things interesting to let Raines have something to get jealous over.

aha
...and he did take note of her earlier, but told himself she's too young for him. If only they were thrown together for something it might cause him to feel differently, perhaps an attraction to the 'plant geek'. Hmmm, interesting....

danger, Will Robinson!
Estrogen overload! Estrogen overload!
Wow, interesting tack this discussion has taken!
Avrielle, I will note that once upon a time, Ensign Talda showed some interest in Keely, but she was so wrapped up in Raines that it kind of fell through the cracks. Of course, to be fair, Talda tends to show interest to anything wth two X chromosones...
As for Blair? He is definitely a lonely guy. However, he's in a precarious position... any sort of romantic entanglement with someone under his command could provve to be very complicated. And, as stated, he's bitter and hurt over his failed marriage; in the best of circumstances, he'd be reluctant to get into any sort of serious relationship.

Well, it certainly sounds Italian, but it's not. Not that I'd expect anyone who's not a MAJOR history nerd to know that (meaning any of the crew could easily mistake it). It's actually Celtiberian, meaning he's descended from an oft-neglected branch of the Celts living in Spain/Portugal. Interesting historical aside - it was Celtiberian mercenaries who were the main body of Hannibal's army, and while the war elephants made a substantial impact in the first battle, the mercs were the ones with the staying power and survivability to allow Hannibal to rampage all over Italy with nothing the Romans could do to stop him.
Ever wonder how Hannibal could trounce the Romans so soundly on their home turf, and then lose to them so bady on his own? there are, as in any war, a variety of contributing factors, but the presence of Celtiberians for the former and their absence in the latter is rather telling, don't you think?
*reads back* Speaking of history nerds... *shakes head*

Very interesting...
I just went glassy-eyed... J/K
I love history, though not enough to actually delve into it. Throw a good documentary on the History Channel though, and I'm way into it.

Question:
So, now that my original idea was tabled, can we get Keely doing something interesting? I know she isn't main crew but, face it, I am a writer who sticks around and it would be nice to get more meaty things to write.

Not tabled...
I don't think your original idea was "tabled", Av... Just "tweaked" or "nudged" to get the whole crew on the same page, so to speak.
The research that Keely and crew were doing could "easily be applied" to the vaccine that Dr Milikens brought aboard and so forth - perhaps that vaccine and the one Keely was working up for Rautos Prime have simialr properties or components, etc... maybe while researching the Rautos Prime business Keely finds something that may help to "stabilize or improve" Milikens vaccine, etc. Like I said, not tabled, at all, just nudged so that you can get in play with the rest of us on the Aldor V business.

Well...
Perhaps she needs a co-post with the Head of Sciences to show what she's come up with so far. Keely by nature isn't pushy and therefore probably wouldn't take the initiative to use her research on another project unless someone ordered her to try or unless the facts were obvious and right in front of her.

Re: Av's co-post
I am ready and willing...let's get to it.
My next post will have Lt Hemlos heading to Xeno Labs to find out what Keely and her team have found.
Have an idea for that...wil PM you.
...Ensign Talda may get pulled into this as well and finds he has a major interest in Botany all of a sudden
