leveling
Would you like to reveal the all time secret as to when we level or are you keeping that hidden till you decide we are worthy?

oooh...
...I don't think we're too awful close to leveling just yet.
The boss'll let us know when we do, I'm sure.
Good post, Mal... nice little "contained" freakout.

nah
You guys are fairly early in the character level. You'll basically have to at least survive the current story arc before we worry about levels.

You better post before Murph puts the hot barrel of a shotgun to Jake's neck... don't want that boo-boo gettin' infected... or "infected" either...
Post from Murph forthcoming, folks...

okay
I administratively edited sunow's post. As of now, Jake does not appear to be suffering any sort of side effects from his bite (aside from normal pain such an injury would cause).

what should I do?
No one that posted after me took this part of my post into account:
He then became aware that Alaster was beating a dead horse and said,"Come on, man". He wrapped his arms around him tight to restrain him and pull him away.
"I think it's dead, and your slinging that crap all over the place! Now, we need to keep moving and get Jake and Emily taken care of. Its not too far away, now."
Did it never happen? should I edit (delete) it?

I think it's okay, T...
Murph didn't react to that because, honestly, you hadn't posted when I was finishing mine up and, when I saw Mac's post I was already done with Murph's.
Also, for the record, Murph poured the whiskey ON Jake's neck wound, not into his mouth. Disinfectant, you know?
Good posts, guys.

Yup... got that part...
Hate to say it, Mal, but you might wanna make another little edit or two... It doesn't appear that Jake actually heaved and fell down, so Alaster probably couldn't have helped him up as posted... and also, Jake doesn't have a gun so there's no point in Alaster's last bit about telling someone to take it.
Not to pick nits or nothin' you know?... Just sayin...

combat actions, action points, and zombies
Okay, folks, I've been asked to provide more details on action points. Rather than write the same PM several times, I'm posting here.
You may spend one of your 11 actions points on any situation where dice are normally rolled - while attacking, for instance, or trying to pick a lock, or hack a computer, or just about any other use of a skill. You may also spend one to gain a single extra attack in a given combat round. Finally, you may spend one to gain temporary (one time) access to a feat that you do not normally have. Typically, though, they are used to get the dice bonus or the extra attack.
All you have to do is tell me via PM, or let me know somehow in your post. Maybe something like "Mac could not afford to miss this time, so he blocked everything out of his mind as he took aim. OOC: spending 1 action point to improve the attack roll." In this situation, I'll roll an extra 1d8 and add the result to your normal 1d20 attack roll.
Now, regarding combat actions in general: it's a good idea to let me know what your character plans to do, as well as any fallback or contingency plans. In case you haven't noticed, I usually run at least a few rounds of combat before waiting on new posts (else the game will take forever). You guys actually did a wonderful job of that this time - Alaster and Mac coordinated their fire and made a plan of what to do once the intended target went down. Our melee characters had pretty much let it be known how they'd react, so it was easy for me to give everyone sensible combat actions. That being said, always try to be specific - I will assume fairly generic actions ofr your characters if I am forced to assume.
Which kind of leads back to action points. If this were tabletop, you'd be able to say at any time "hey, I wanna burn 1 AP and get a bonus attack". That won't work as well, here, so it might be a good idea to let me know if/when you'd like me to "automatically" use them for your benefit.
Say, "if we're overrun, I will burn 1 AP to get another attack" or "if I'm bitten, I will burn 1 AP to get a bonus to my fort save (and hopefully not catch the virus)" or "if I'm trying to bandage someone who is dying in combat, I'd like to burn 1 AP to help stabilize them".
Head shots: remember that I am assuming normal attacks unless you say otherwise. Most of you will hit with a regular attack more than half the time. An attempted head shot has a lower rate of success, but will pretty much be an insta kill. You could burn an action point when trying a head shot to hopefully offset some of the difficulty of that shot.
Finally, regarding zombies: these are not your "shambling corpse" zombies, ala Romero fame. When inspected up close, these zombies typically look like filthy humans, save a couple of differences:
Their eyes are almost completely black (due to huge, dilated pupils)
Their skin tends to be very flushed. It often looks completely normal, otherwise - though it may be greyish in base color, then flushed.
Zombies that have existed for much of any time tend to start looking guant/malnourished.
Almost every zombie will have at least a small wound on them (bite marks). Some will have horrible inuries, though these rarely slow them any.
