Reactions ... time to move the 3 groups ...

... so all of us can get into the action and flow of the events of the game!

Merikka is the goddess of Agriculture so I agree with Darque that groups 2 and 3 switch objectives! Valerus is more attuned to the nature worshippers!

Note this paragraph from the An Evil in Orlane post from Hammer in Gunther's character:

*** Gunther also informs the group that Norwell said "most of the people here worship the goddess Merikka, the goddess of Agriculture" and that "we are good folk who don't go bothering other people." ***

Also please note what was in the last paragraph of the same post and this needs to be addressed as to which inns the 3 groups are to go to at the end of the day:

*** Gunther waits long enough for the group to decide which inn for the young Paladin to rendezvous at before nightfall and for which adventurers will accompany him to go pay a courtesy call on Mayor Ormond before Gunther proceeds in the direction of the lake. ***

Hopefully there will be enough responses in the next few hours so Darque can post his info on An Evil in Orlane so that Trip can facilitate the movements of the groups and Garrus/DS II and everyone can feel involved in the action and not just sitting on the sidelines doing nothing!

Oriel in a group

I think we stick with the group assignments (with the Druid to the temple switch)- and Stalker's group would round him up on the way - that seems like what we would do regardless of the info we had.

Also, if the group heads to the mayors right away there is no need for Sentinel and Oriel to head off after the big guy. I would like to note, however, that it would be in character for Oriel to go looking if someone was missing. But in this case we have a group to do that. I'm actually more concerned about the impression Deathstalker will make on the town than I am with what will happen to him.

Oriel goes back to carrying his bow as he walks through town. To the mayors!

Good to see ...

..... DeGotti posting over at An Evil in Orlane and hopefully the rest of you guys will get on board with some messages for Trip to assemble in his next post on An Evil in Orlane!

He can only work with what we post over on the An Evil in Orlane thread so I am looking forward to the adventure developing with all you guys!

Hey Oriel

That is another reason why we need to get over to the Mayor's so his constituents in the community can be informed that DeathStalker is here to help and is not part of the problem!

A plan

Ok, it looks to me like we have a plan. Do we need Darque to post a general statement - or can each group individually post what they are doing?

A Plan ... Nomad ...

... At some point Trip will enter another post because it has been a couple days!

You know you are heading to the Mayor's house with Gunther, Sentinel and Fandil [still identified by Darque as Group #1] so you should be able to post some info for Trip to use in case he decides to post tonight after he gets home!

Should Darque post at An Evil in Orlane and there is something Gunther can add to the descriptions before Trip posts then I will write something further for An Evil in Orlane just to add some more flavor if it fits!

Posts

I would definately like to see the posts in the game forum about what is going on before I post. Basically this is a forum for you guys to discuss what you are going to do, but then you should post what your character is doing in the game itself. Don't expect posts from me every other day or daily. I am going to let people get their posts in. It is a leisurely game we have for sure.

For the Record

I for one am enjoying this gaming format, no matter what the leisurely pace.

Already have a character/background in the works for a different style and driven character somewhere down the road when Trip opens a second game!

I enjoy reading these posts and how the adventure develops, keeping in mind that everything I have the privilege of reading is information that my character Gunther may or may not be aware of at the time!

Just hope the other players realize they have to post what their character is doing over at An Evil in Orlane before Trip has enough info to post the results of setting the stage further and resolving any and all interactions between our characters and the ones only the Dungeon Master knows are lurking in the area!

I am quite content [in relation to waiting 14 or 28 days for the results in a Dueling Arena!]that the movement of this particular game is proceeding toward the inevitable battle vs the evil that threatens the town!

By April or May the result of all this preliminary development will be well worth the time it took to get everyone involved in contributing their posts regarding what their character is doing between each of Trip's posts over at the An Evil in Orlane thread where we are supposed to post how our characters are reacting to the developments!

I for one am enjoying the ride!

Related Questions

Just a few questions.

I'm curious to know how combat will work. Will we run a round of combat for each post, and thus, run about 2 rounds of combat a week? For big battles where everyone is involved, that doesn't seem too bad. But for small skirmishes, I'd hate to see 75% of the group wait for weeks while a smaller group swings and misses attacks round after round

On a related note, will there be opportunities to resolve minor or incidental side-encounters offline? For example, if 2 of the party members are split from the group and have an encounter before rejoining, will there be an option of minimizing the waiting time of other players by handling the encounter via IM?

Will there be a "cutoff" or a "run date", where everybody who's gonna post will have posted? I kinda like this idea, as it helps keep all posters' expectations, slow and fast, in check. Also helps in setting a mental clock for when to check back in.

Combat will work round by round. What I will do is have everyone post what they are going to do the first round AND post what they want to do the entire combat if indeed they aren't able to post frequently.

i.e. Joe the Cleric: I am going to draw my mace and shield and attack with the initial group, the orc (#4) on the left will be my first target.

As the battle continues Joe will continue to attack the orcs closest to him but also scan the battlefield. If he notices anyone injured badly or hears screams of comrades he will fall back defensively and try to get to the injured and cast Cure Light Wounds.

That way if Joe can't be there for the 2nd or 3rd rounds of the combat I will have an idea of what he wants to do.

The combat rounds will be quicker than the regular posting. I will usually post the combat rounds 1 round per night or every other night for really large scale battles.

As far as the incidental stuff out of the main group it will be handled just as the main group is handled. I will post it simultaneously.
