Bam!

Not much from Jarenion, there, but a little something, anyway. Felt good to write even that little bit, though... Looking forward to the adventure!

well

Sorry for the delay, and sorry for the truly stupidly massive post. I promise that they will not typically be this way. I had some backstory to tell.

well met Olan

I cannot emphaize enough that in this game thta you should be precise as possible in your movements and actions. General statements can be very dangerous.

For example

"I'm scouting ahead of the party and checking the room"

Ok.I will assume you are 60 feet away from party. You are going into the room at least half way, looking around and then physically exploring the room.

My Response "You go into the room, spot a Playelf Magazine on the table. You open it up and the explosive runes blow up in you face for 50 points of damage. You reel back and fall into a pit trap, fall 70 feet into a Gelatinous Cube - Are you too pretty to die?"

As opposed to "I will stay ahead of party 40 feet to scout but stay in sight. When I reach the room I will take a step in and look around until I can get a idea of the contents. If everything seems ok, I will move into the room ten feet towards the centre and wait for the party."

noted

Thanks for the reminder. I'll do my best to be specific.

As I recall, Arien was always one for that, what with his tactical training... though has was never the party leader due to his trusting nature.

Incorrect

Arien was party leader when you went to the tower where the Imperial Green Guard had captured your sister and a demon called The Green Goddess possessed her soul. You got to slay the commander (who had a green oversized arm with six fingers) who took her by shoving your flaming sword through his eye socket.

First...

...I rarely ever complain about a lengthy post, for some reason. And that one was well worth the read... Arien's got a little AATIV and a honey of a half elf (?) wife? Who knew? Go Arien!

Secondly... regarding specificity and precision... magic is not to be flung about willy-nilly like some child's toy, good sir! That sort of thing gets your metal armored companions fried by lightning bolts or your mage flying into the path of one of those thri-kreen throwing thingies and plummeting to earth in some horrifically awesome death scene!!! Or... you know... got it!

Sigh

Mages with less than 20 hit points should not fly up to engage an enemy with throwing weapons. Just saying....

well...

You know, I had forgotten that, Roger. I stand corrected.

I often seem to stand there.

Thanks, Eol. Yeah, I figured that in the twelve or so years since the last game, Arien would have needed to turn his eye toward having an heir. In my little make believe story, his wife is technically a quarter elf (not that it really matters), grandmother was an elven seer of some sort.

But yeah, at thirty-eight years old, Arien has seen his priorities shift a bit. I liked giving this a little foreboding; if he doesn't make it, his wife's premonition was correct, you get the bittersweet of him knowing the risks and charging onward, anyway. Yadda, yadda yadda.

As for Spooky... 'twas an epic death.

visual aids

As I have with Putnam, I will be provide visual aids and maps throughout the game in the QnA to help guide you along and give you an idea of what you are facing. I may keep a general map on the main first page covered with a "fog of war" but I am not sure if I want to do that or not.

visual aids?

Can we get videos of the DM prancing around and doing funny voices for the NPCs?

Don't we deserve a flamboyant innkeeper? Roger with a falsetto, prancing on video... would be GLORIOUS.
