Ok gotta ask
Not to start any drama but is Wolf going to get an answer to his idea?
There was no mention of it in your post Roger and I ended my last post with it. Kinda hoping for storyline purposes he gets an answer from someone.

Huh?
What are you rambling about Tann?
Ok, Jessy has to wait on the Captain, so I hope he posts something soon.

Plan
Tann, I have not addressed your plan in the game because it is up to the players to come up with a plan. As to the feasibility of moving the ship with the shuttles, I have addressed that already. It is an interesting idea but it would be depending on many factors like where you'd put the shuttles and how you'd secure the ship to them. It is possible but the wrong roll and you will damage the ship further.
But you need to develop a plan and that is between characters. I can make suggestions but I can not tell you what to do. if you want to try and do 4 days of repairs in 4 hours, then that is what you try - but I will be rolling on the IMPOSSIBLE COMPLEX level.
You have caves nearby. there is the AP building and there is Rocinante. Chances are the mercs can not scan for the case so they can not risk blowing up things indiscriminately. In fact, they have to be really careful.
John has a radio set to their frequency and they do not know that. That could be a huge advantage.
Trying to think like the mercs might help you plan for them coming. If the game was reversed and you were playing mercs wanting to steal a violin from a bunch of passengers and a well armed crew - what would you do?
I realize this looks like a no win situation. That is part of the adventure is to see how your characters deal with their own personal Serenity Valley. But there are still Aces to be played and thrilling heroics to be played out.

Plan
I posted. To reiterate, the plan is to divide and conquer. We take pictures of the case in three separate locations, gussied up to appear to be guarded. We use explosives that we have, or that we make from the contents of our cargo, to rig those locations to go boom, hopefully eliminating mercenaries in the process. The actual cases (all of them if we can arrange that) will remain at the ship where we'll be sure to have the crew as heavily armed and well-positioned as possible to deal with any attack. John and Wolf are still charged with doing the impossible (I'll use Leadership to help with that), and I'm allowing for the rest of you to provide input and refine the plan as your characters would see fit.
I briefly discussed this with Roger, so we do have the cameras, and as far as I know nothing I've suggested is impossible. I figure that this is our best chance for survival, and I am planning on speaking with the fine gentleman that knocked Wyatt unconscious to see what kind of leverage he can provide us with. He just seems too together to not have something we can use.
I also want to know what's in the cases for certain. So, I'll be making that play in a bit.
Anyway, there you have it. Let the good times roll.

Plan
I (the player) like the plan - just have to get Willow to the point where she can hear the plan .
And I am all for gunplay, but in moderation - the medical bay's pretty crowded as it is!

Good plan Cap'n
Very nice post Brom and you too Teller.
The reason I asked about my idea was that you said if I gave you an interesting idea you'd consider it. Of course I forgot to remember your the DM not Brom and you could not say yeah or nay to it, only he could, as he did.
I'll have a post up in the next few days.

Question!
So, I was wondering if I could get the exact dimensions of the parts we would need to fix Roc.

You are kidding me right?
Exact dimension? Dammit man, I'm a GM not an engineer!
Let me see what I can dig up....
Based on the schematic, it is about 40'x10' with a 20' diameter at widest, tapering down. The turbine you have found is smaller, won't be efficient but it will work.
However you will need to fix the iris style door that closed the drive pod up while in space. You can decide not to, to save a huge chunk of time, but your will have to replace the entire pod again as soon as you land again.

How Techy ........
John and Tess are pretty gadget good. Could John or Tess be able to find the signal used to activate the head bombs?
I'd guess each was separate so only those three would be activated. But that could lead to a spectrum of freq that might help drop the mercs. The computer on board should be able to rapidly cover a spectrum with signal pulses and possibly activate some of the implants.
So Giddy and Al(seeing your NPCing Tess) what'cha think?

well
Great idea except that it would probably be a algorithm that determines the code and without it, you'd have no hope of accessing the bombs. Much like trying to access a car lock with a CB radio and foul language.
But I like the idea. Very Innovative.

Code Boy................
Algorithm, shmalgorithm...John was just complaining the security codes were too simple. This could be just the kind of thing he'd gravitate too. He'd probably work in out in his head while tearing out the parts for Roc. He was a med guy too so he might even know something about neuro-implants.
Man could you see him and Grace together, wouldn't nuthin be safe...except their stuff.

John
There might be something John could do with the knowledge of the implants being there .... but I don't want to spoon feed you solutions.
Right now the game calls for mostly interaction between party members to formula a plan. I can only add to that, nothing more.
