grin

A slow smile spread on the stranger's face but he said nothing. He had watched her approach, and expected just what was happening. With slow, deliberate movements he pulled part of his tunic aside revealing a tattoo.

The tattoo resembled an eye, though its pupil was an open book instead of what one would expect. He was a Watcher, an observer sworn not to interfere with the course of events, but instead observe, learn and record their passing. Such a person would be little threat to a skilled and armed dark elven ranger.

Still he remained silent.

Beneath her skilled gaze the dark elf must have realized that the Watcher was completely without a weapon, nor did he wear any semblance of armor. He seemed lost, almost helpless in the dark forest in the middle of the night. Honestly, it is probably a surprise that some other predator hasn't already ended his seemingly pitiful existence.

With slow movement he nodded to the doorway the elf had just cleared and shot her a questioning look.

Who's there??

Mivara took a moment to collect herself. She pulls away from Seloust's grip, and quickly begins searching through her robes. She stops quickly and looks up the stairs. The door has been opened, and she can feel the presence of more people at least two. She quickly stands and readies her weapons. She doesn't know what to expects from these newcomers, Do they mean us harm? She hears the person closest to the basement door walk away, she quickly packs up the things on the floor. After she replaces all of her items to the proper pockets she reaches down the back of her robe and grabs hold of the hilt of the large demonic sword concealed under the back of her robes. She pulls out a sword almost as big as herself. It has a large black blade with crimson inscriptions carved into it. The hilt is wrapped with wolf fur. She positions herself at the bottom of the stairs, sword in hand.... “Show yourself!”

Newcomers...

As he tried to comfort Mivara, Seloust heard a loud Clangs from upstairs. This made Mivara pull away from him and draw a large sword. It's blade was black and it had many runes carved into it. He found himself wondering what they represented aand how she got hold of such a blade.

He could hear movement from upstairs and a shaft of light come from where the door was. Looks like someone, or something, has let us free. He drew his sword and stod behind Mivara at the foot of the stairs. He heard the footsteps move away from the door and could even see the signs of a shadow walking away.

He could hear faint whispers from upstairs but they where too quiet to make out. Show yourself. Demanded Mivara. Mivara, i think we should go upstairs, Who knows, whoevers up there may know about the girl. Either way, we should let them make the first move, Don't worry, i've got your back. He then readied himself and waited to see what happend next.

I must admit

(This is my first freeform, but I must admit it is curious how everyone seems to know where we all are. I saw the drow because she hadn't noticed me yet, but there was the assumption that I wouldn't have seen her coming despite looking straight at her. Also, with one person who hasn't actually entered the in yet, and another who is specifically trained to e silent, neither of which are carrying a light source and the only words were a whisper some distance from the door... you see where I'm going with this? Do we have rules about assuming things about other characters actions or any rules whatsoever? Again, this is new to me so if I'm out of line just tell me so. Thanks.)

Common sence

(Ooc In answer to your Question steellight its more of a case of common sence. Me and Mivara are Elves from what i can gather and as such have better sences and as for knowing where you are, One of you opened the door so already we know of one, and then i doubt anyone woud open a door then walk off unless somebody or somthing caused them too. Thus we know of the presence of at least two people.)

I understand

(OOC Conquest, I can see your point, yet your post describes a shaft of light from the door in a place that, to my knowledge is still completely dark. It is assumptions like that that I am questioning. I don't mean to be disrespectful, as both of us have never done the freeform thing before, I'm just trying to establish what we can and cannot assume/make up about our situation and each other, that's all.)

light

(OOC Steelight is right there was no light my darkelf was using nightvision to identify Conquest and mivara so you guys probably could feel a wind to assume that the door was opened and that I was there also my drow walks silently so you guys probably would have no idea that Steelight's character was even watching unless you did what I did and do a listen check for breathing)

Moving Shadows

Kel'varesh was laying in bed with Riniel, his favorite serving girl from the Dripping Dagger, nuzzled against his chest, when the vision came to him. Everything was so vivid. His feelings were pervaded with senses of danger, loss, agony, sadness and curiosity. He was standing in an inn, but it looked abandoned and dilapidated. Things were coming quickly, and he took in as much info as he could. The door leading to what seemed like a basement, and the log lying near it. The three sets of footprints in the settled dust. The bar along the far wall. Recently moved chairs in the corner. There was faint red moonlight filtering through the broken windows casting shadows throughout the room, and a heavy mist permeating everything. As his vision was beginning to fade, he saw a woman near the door with a blade at a monk's throat, and the voice of a young girl "Your assistance is required Bol Eilaer, come quickly."
As Kel came out of his trance, Riniel squirmed and shifted positions. She was beautiful and he loved watching her, but loved bedding her even more. The vision was nagging him though. No one had called him by that name in ages. At least well before the ritual took place, and how would some child from a place he had never been know that name. He knew he had to answer this summons. He slowly shifted Riniel's position a bit more to crawl out of the bed. She would understand when she woke up and found him gone. She would take care of his home and assets while he was gone, as she had before. This wasn't the first time he had left her like this and their arrangement was beneficial for both of them. He walked into his closet and put on his breeches and shirt. He walked to the corner and triggered a hidden catch opening the door to a secret stairwell leading down beneath his home. In the hidden chamber he surveyed the room thinking of the things he would need.

He stepped into the chamber, took a few steps toward a large armoire and opened it. Taking out his armor he began to don it making sure it was ready for combat if need be. He pulled back his ash blonde hair, and braided it's full length. As he pulled on his dark crimson gloves he felt their energy meld with his. He pulled on his boots, and started walking clockwise around the chamber picking up weapons he thought he would need from tables and racks. As he went, he meticulously placed them on his body where he needed them. His tonfa swords in their custom sheath he put on his back last. Then after slipping into his cloak, he walked through a hidden tunnel and emerged in an alley a block away from his home.

Kel knew where he wanted to be. He walked through the city to the dock district. There were plenty of lights there to create shadows, and just the thing he needed. He stopped briefly at the entrance to the Dripping Dagger and gave a nod to Razael, the owner. When he arrived at the docks he found a storehouse with just the right amount of shadow. As he walked toward the shadows, his amethyst eyes began to turn as dark as the shadows themselves, slowly spreading across his face, darkening his hair, and fully enveloping his body until he was the shadow he had been walking into.

He emerged from the shadows, a stiletto in each hand, near the bar at the back of the dilapidated inn. He could now tell it seemed to be deep in a forest. The same senses he felt in the vision reached him now. He melted into and out of the shadows, not making a sound. He was quickly making his way toward the woman and her prey. He noticed she was like him, in racial features at least. It would at least make her a worthy opponent should things not go well. Then he was behind her and in an instant had his blades poised for killing strikes. His left hand holding a blade at her kidney, and his right holding the other at the base of her skull. He leaned forward and in a playful, somewhat sensuous manner whispered in her ear "Sweet huntress, if you value your life, stay your blade and release the monk."

Recognition

Recognition flashes in the eyes of the Watcher. After a moment he slowly moves his hand up and places two fingers on the inside of the huntresses wrist. Gently he attempts to push her hand holding the blade away from his neck.

Its all kicking off and im stuck downstairs...

(Ooc Im asuming the door has been opened now

While Seloust waited he pondered who could possibly be up there. He was supprised that one other person knew about this place, let alone three. Mivara, i'm going to go check it out, Wait here or join me its up to you. He took hold of his sword and slowly walked up the stairs.

He could hear voices the closer he got and could even make out some of the words.
Sweet ..., if you value your ..., stay your ... and ... the monk. What could be going on? He now knew there had to be three more. The holder of the blade, the monk, and the other man requesting the blade holder remove the blade.

He walked up the remainder of the stairs. There was a man on the floor with blood on his neck and a blade to his neck. A female was holding the blade but had another man two blades to her neck and kidney. Hmm, could almost be funny if it wasn't between people who may risk my life He thought to himself.

HEY, I think you should all put away your weapons and tell me what the F**K is going on here. MIVARA YOU MAY WANT TO SEE THIS. He then himself lowered his sword as a sign of peace. Your move

New to this so forgive me my mistakes.

Jason Ukiah Fell from the tree where he had been watching the events unfolds. He had been sitting there for awhile now since he saw the monk when he was hunting he decided to follow him and ended up here....
He had only with him his small hunting knife and his bow he had spent most of his arrows earlier in bringing down a fair sized boar with the biggest tusks he had ever seen.
He stood and watched as a woman approached the monk he seemed to be waiting for her because he simply stood there and seemed to give her a signal at which point Jason nearly fell out of the tree but managed to keep his footing.
He looked up and saw that the women now had a blade to the monk’s throat at which point Jason strung an arrow to his bow, as jason looked at his quiver he saw that after taking the arrow he only had 4 left and deemed he would have to wait for the perfect moment to strike.
He guessed that he could loosen the arrow and stop the blade cutting the monk’s throat if he moved a little higher in the tree so with bow and arrow in hand he climbed a little higher guessing that his dark green clothing would keep him from being seen. He found a high branch where he could sit and get a perfect shot into the women’s hand his hood was up so he pulled it down and put his robe onto the branch and placed the arrow back to the string and waiting for the event to start to unfold.
His face had now beads of sweat forming he suddenly noticed how cold it was but because he had taken his hooded robe off he had only a tunic on which was a very rich dark green and his belt was dark black with white stars across where the silver buckle would be placed his long brown hair reached his shoulder blades.
He started to shake as the cold was getting to him but still he did not move he waited and kept waiting until in a flash a man suddenly appeared behind the women, causing Jason shake at this point he heard someone he could see shout he couldn’t make out what the man said because he had now slipped and fell hitting two branches on his way down knocking his knife clean out of its sheath making it fall about 2 feet away from him as he hit the ground face first he laid there dazed. His hooded robe and quiver left in the tree his bow laid Brocken underneath him and the arrow dropped and broke on the ground nearby. He started to roll himself over and then .........

Funny

Rethia slowly removed her dagger from the watchers throat. The man that was now behind her had come from nowhere.
"I had no intention of killing him now if you would be so kind as to remove your weapon as that man that I was watching happened to ask. I'm Rethia Rivermoon and until all you came in this was my quite and well hidden home. Now may I ask you all what is so fasinating about this place that I can't get the privacy I need?"

Odd.

The Watcher merely nods to the dark-skinned elf known as Rethia and offers a sad smile before stepping into the inn. The floor boards creak beneath his weight as he walks of over to a corner of the room and slowly sits, cross-legged, on the floor. After a moment of focus he reaches his hand into nothingness and pulls forth a large, ornately bound book which he promptly sets on his lap, opens and begins to write.

The Watcher glances around constantly at each of the players in this affair, his gaze seeming to penetrate the here and now and see back into the past and perhaps in to their very existence.

whew that could have gone worse

Kel held his ground behind the woman. He was tense, yet excited, ready for a fight. His senses were heightened ready for anything. He drew in everything, including the scent of the huntress. She was tempting, but he had to focus on the situation. He heard shouting from behind him, but passed it off. He could handle that situation in a moment. Glancing over her shoulder he noticed the Monk's open robe and the tattoo exposed there. A sigh of recognition escaped his lips, as the huntress lowered her weapon and spoke to him.

He gave a slight nod to the Watcher and stepped back, while sheathing his stilettos. "Huntress, forgive my initial appraisal of the situation. I thought the threat to this man's life was justified in my reaction."
Turning to the now sitting Watcher he performed a precise ritual bow. "Watcher, Forgive my rudeness at my initial greeting. I hope you have travelled well."
Kel stood back up, stretched a bit, and turned back toward the huntress. "You are well met Rethia. I am Kel'varesh Sul'tarin. I would have welcomed the challenge in fighting you. It would have been......arousing." A sultry smile crossed his face. "I myself was summoned here. By whom or for what reason, I know not. Invading the privacy of what you call home was not my intention."
A sound outside the inn caught his attention. Turning toward it he could make out someone lying on the ground. He walked to the door, and said with a calm voice, "Whoever is out there, come in and join the party so I don't have to come get you."
Kel began walking back toward the bar, keeping an eye on the observing watcher. As he passed the huntress, he asked her a simple question. "Shall we now deal with your belligerent guest near the basement?"

Oh S**t this looks bad...

The woman holding the knife to the monks throat spoke to the the man behind her.
I had no intention of killing him now if you would be so kind as to remove your weapon as that man that I was watching happened to ask. I'm Rethia Rivermoon and until all you came in this was my quite and well hidden home. Now may I ask you all what is so fasinating about this place that I can't get the privacy I need?" He decided it would be best to watch how this panned out before making his move, Maybe letting some others answer her first.

She lowered the knife and then the man behind her lowerd his knifes.
Huntress, forgive my initial appraisal of the situation. I thought the threat to this man's life was justified in my reaction." He turned to the monk and again spoke.
Watcher, Forgive my rudeness at my initial greeting. I hope you have travelled well." This startled Seloust and he took a step back. What would a watcher want with this place. Do you know of whats been going on. What the significance of the girl that appered to me and my compainion?
Then the man turned back to the huntress and again spoke
"You are well met Rethia. I am Kel'varesh Sul'tarin. I would have welcomed the challenge in fighting you. It would have been......arousing." A sultry smile crossed his face. "I myself was summoned here. By whom or for what reason, I know not. Invading the privacy of what you call home was not my intention."
A crashing noice came from the forest and he saw a man fall from a tree. Who goes there? Seloust shouted.
Whoever is out there, come in and join the party so I don't have to come get you." Shouted Kel.

Then Kel turned to him.
Shall we now deal with your belligerent guest near the basement?"
What?! I am of course sorry for tresspassing on yor home but i remember this place when it was open. This was my place of bith. As for you Kel, I wish not to fight but if i have to so be it. MIVARA WHAT IS TAKING YOU SO LONG. YOU REALLY WANT TO SEE THIS.
