character roll call, please

Can we get a quick round of intros? Since our characters already know each other, we should say what everyone would have eventually figured out, in addition to what our characters openly let on about themselves. Also, when posting a move, i think it would help if everyone identified their character each time. I'm probably not theonly one who can't always remember.

Thanks.

Shenek, Female Gnome Burglar

Physically, Shenek is gaunt and somewhat weather beaten.

Emotionally, she seems to exude a miasma of quiet bitterness. She's often withdrawn and can sit motionless for hours, huddled tight as if trying to withdraw inside herself. She sleeps on a simple cot wedged into a corner, with the words "Never trust a gnome, especially if you are one" scrawled in agnry letters on the nearby wall. And she does show a strange antipathy towards others of her own species. Although her skillset pegs her as a rogue with a specialty in burglary, she scorns such terms. "I am a thief", she declares, "no need to make it sound prettier". She seems obsessed with the idea of captivity and escape. She's always on the lookout for any expert at such things. How do you open a magically warded lock? she asks of them. How can you counter spells of binding or control? Although cynical about stories of super thieves who could defeat any magical challenge thorugh sheer willpower and subtle skill, she studies them anyway.

In groups, even with her comrades, she is tacturn and seldom smiles. The only thing that seems to get her excited is the prospect of a job, especially the planning part.

supplies

Gosk buys 5 vials of antitoxin for the trip. He also buys and fills 10 extra water skins. (250g+10g)

Is there any low profile ways for us to raise some extra cash for some more antitoxins, delay poison or neutralize poison, or healing potions? The wastes sound absolutely deadly without the right supplies.

No

Not in a short period of time anyway.

Also, are you sure you want to be carrying 11 waterskins? That is rather heavy and outlandish enough that I will have to start tracking encumbrance.

waterskins

I bought the supplies to share with the group. Giving everyone an extra waterskin or two should make sure everyone has water. Brianna was the only one that said she picked up extra water so I got extra that way all of us weren't buying travel supplies.

Well

No update this week. The lack of posts beyond purchases doesn't really give me anything to work with. So I suppose this is stalled until next weekend. Hopefully we will have more posts by then.

Roll Call

I'd just like to point out that you can get a general idea of characters from the Characters thread. The personalities and such will likely be developed as the game goes on... but the game can only go on if people actually post.

Kitara

Kitara Tigereyes earned her name at least her eyes earned her her last name. She had named herself, Kitara when she had been found as a toddler near a deserted wagons hidden away in the bush off the trail. She became of the the many orphans of the wars, bandit raids or disease that ran rampant and indiscriminately amongst high an low born at various times of the year. Just another orphaned child of human descent. A militia patrol found her and had taken her nearest village to the small temple to the Goddess. There she was raised by the priestess there. As one of many she did not stand out much except she was bigger for her age or what they thought her age was. She topped most men in the village and was equally well built. She loved being outside more that inside doing female chores. being bigger and stronger than the children her age made her different and she spent a lot of time alone or amongst the few books in the temple that the priestess had be en at first reluctant to let the girl touch let alone read, but the girls quiet manner and persistence eventually won her the chance to learn form those books though most were religious in nature.

In her pre-teens during one raid on the village by bandits when Kitara took up a quarterstaff and took out more than her fair share of the bandits. A traveling monk had been passing through took out most the rest. He took Kitara as a student and she learned his ways. Kitata developed her abilities with glee. Kitara was eager to have someone who at least cared enough about her to train her and give her individual attention made her blossom. She did in all ways. When her training got to a stage where it was time to go out into the world again Kitara was ready to just that. A new adventure on her own.

lighting

is it too dark for low light vision without the lightning flashes? some of us have darkvision, most have low light vision, and Kitara is practically blind right now. I was thinking of having Gosk lead Kitara out of the riverbed if she is the only one that can't see right now. I don't want to give our position away to anyone watching from town by using a sunrod or torch for the rest of the group.

Answer

The disorienting effect of the flashing aside, it is generally too dark for low-light vision. Darkvision is relatively unaffected (save for the bright flashes that make you take a moment for your eyes to readjust periodically.

Request

Because of the split time of the game update (covering the end of one day, the camp, and the beginning of the second day) I would ask that you delineate the days by marking them either with a horizontal line between the paragraphs, or a bold heading for day 1 and day 2 before the respective entry. Thanks.

And I will respond to anything I need to that people do in camp (on either night) throughout the week.

Tiamat

I am assuming Voltaire is being sent out at the end of Day 2. Is this correct or did you intend to send him out on day 1?

I will (more or less) play Voltaire, though for minor things (like day to day activities and such) I don't mind you speaking for him. He can speak common so he can verbally report what, if anything, he sees.

for future reference

This is something I will do every time we set up camp (when in your updates you say something like "you get the feeling you're being watched) i just feel that animals have better eyes for seeing hidden things and people.

hope im not messing myself over here but......

I noticed two things. first of all, I've become so used to playing sorcerers that I keep forgetting I'm playing a wizard.
lol

first of all i noticed that force chain was not a prepared spell. so do I have the ability to change out a spell?

I was just wondering if my character changed out a 2nd lvl spell for another one or was the difficulty described in casting was an effect of the wastes? or something else entirely? The goof up was totally my bad so If you wish for me to edit my post due to the prepared spell issue, let me know.
