Your word is simply good enough, thats all. I didn't mean to offend you if I did, it's just the truth of it is new players to the site have a tendency to be all excited about it then disappear forever.

I've actually been waiting to receive your character sheet this whole time, but if you really don't want to play, that's fine with me. I rather have you in though, I was just telling you ahead of time that I want people that aren't going to just play the game for a week and then leave.

If you are the kind of person who knows you'll be able to be reliable and play regularly, then please roll one up and join in! But if you know your not going to be playing the entire time and you'll be dropping out, then I rather wait for people who will be more regular.

How long?

1) How long of a run will this game be? (or at least this adventure?) Just for the summer? Until Christmas? 1 year commitment? What's your rough estimate?

2) How many levels will the characters likely gain over the course of this adventure? How quickly do you see them advancing? (every month, every 2 - 3 months?)

3) How many game updates will there be per week? Will they be regular? (like, every Tuesday and Saturday?)

4) How consistent do you imagine being? Do you have a busy season at work coming up? Papers/exams? Vacation time? Anything that you imagine will keep you from posting regularly?

and, finally...

5) What will you do if a player has not posted by the time of the regular update? Will you wait for the player to post? NPC the character? Make bad things happen to the character?

Thanks!
Ayrn

lol

I'm glad this is getting some good attention

To answer all your questions...

1. I have a good story arch for the first hook, i'm hoping to get through that and if it's only a one shot and that's it, then I'm happy. I'm hoping it won't take more than past christmas and the sooner the better since that means the more game time we're doing.

2. Depending on how often the players post, the faster we can get through content, the faster they advance. I know how slow things can get in games and I would like to have them level up at least twice before the first adventure is over.

3. Minimum, one update per week, Ideally two or three (only in our dreams, i know :p) if the players update and post regularly. I can't promise extremely awesome quality posts as I'm not the most elegant of a write, but I can promise as long as the players are posting, I'll keep posting to match speed.

4. I have a pretty regular and light weight job for the summer, and in the fall I'm starting my four year schooling but I don't see that being a problem with getting in the way of updating regularly. With that said, I once again can't promise novels every update, but definitely everything that will and needs to be addressed will be addressed, and to the best of my descriptive ability at the time.

5. If a player does not post by the time I need to update, I will move on and assume that the player will either; Keep attacking the same thing ( if in combat ) or keep up what they were doing from last time if it's RP, and I will move them along with group if need be. I do not want this game to fall apart for everyone else if one person does not post, and if the person does come back and would of done something else I will try to work with them to get things done and maybe back up a little bit, if the situation allows it. ALSO, if my players do know that they will not be able to post, please please please PM me a brief synopsis of what you will do. That is a million times better than not posting anything at all!

Also, Thank you Ayrn for asking these questions, they are a great thing to bring up, I was never the best at doing the recruiting, only the Dming

Were you planning on playing at all, or were you just pushing the thread in a better direction like I've seen you do time and time again? (Which by the way is awesome, these questions I never would of thought of myself)

I'm interested, but...

Starting next week, I'm away on work trips every other week, until the second week in August. Then in mid-late August, we're expecting our next child, and then September rolls around and that's actually my busiest month of the year at work.

So... I think I'd just end up being that player that never actually had time to post. Sorry.

Thats unfortunate...

I wish I could have you in my game, but I hope everything works out for you! Now, everyone else out there don't waste this opportunity, and get your butts in here for a game! I have one character fully done, i just need two more minimum. I am really willing to Dm this, so please, players lets go!

I'll see what I can do.

Looking at it this way:
-I've a light pt job so that wont conflict
-I'm on here multiple times in the run of the day
-Even when I return to university in the fall I'll probably be on regularly...
-I have a weak spot for Forgotten Realms...

I'll look into forming up an interesting character; I've had a few ideas already (the complete series helps with that)...
Trouble is deciding...

Any particular role you'd like filled? (this question is open to all)

Some suggestions

Here's some ideas, Tuned-Out (and others), for some characters that might work for this adventure. Enjoy!

A human swashbuckler, a mariner by trade from Zazesspur, looking for "safer" employment than the dangers presented from life at sea. S/he is an expert swordsman, skilled with a rapier and dagger (or dual short swords).

A human (or elven) druid from Mosstone, who serves the Druids of the Grove. S/he has been assigned to this band of adventurers by the Druids out of concern for the people and to protect the interests of the Druids. A badger, eagle, owl, or wolf serves as his/her companion.

A human cleric or paladin of Ilmater or Tyr, sent by his/her local congregation to help those living out of the fringe. Primarily concerned for the welfare of the people, s/he sees pushing out the encroaching monsters and brigands as a way to pursue his/her main goal.

A human paladin or cleric (or fighter, I suppose) of Helm or Torm, attached to this group of adventurers because the goals of his/her diety and church line up with the goals of this adventure -- defend the line! Vanquishing evil and protecting the people is at the center of what this person is all about. Depending on the type of adventure, perhaps focusing on mounted combat as one of Tethyr's newest knights. (Check with the DM... if the adventure is going to be mostly underground or center around areas where your mount won't be of much use, focusing on mounted combat won't be much fun.)

A human or dwarven (or halfling) craftsman/merchant (rogue), with skills in a craft (woodworking and locksmithing to make the cool chest), open locks and disable devises, diplomacy and bluffing, and maybe some athletic skills (climbing, jumping, riding).

A stout dwarven mercenary (maybe a fighter, maybe a berserking "barbarian") from the Starspire Mountains. With the civil war over, he's just looking for work and some heads to lop off.

A profit minded halfling (or human) adventurer (rogue or beguiler) who sees this adventure as a way to make some real coin... who knows, maybe there is unclaimed treasure to be found amongst these long forsaken keeps and forts?

A human wizard (or sorcerer) from Darromar, sent out as one of the Queen's representatives (or representing the interests of one of the colleges in the city). S/he is tasked to make a careful search for a specific item believed to be lost somewhere near the area in which the PCs will be adventuring. (check with the DM about this one as it will require the DM to somehow tie it in to their plans for the game.)

hum...

It is a shame that you cannot join Ayrn...

Those ideas are good food for thought. If we want to build a party that will work well together then I can always put up my character's skills and a brief description of his persona but I do not like the idea of others feeling obliged to "fill a gap" in the party makeup. All I will say is that we do need more players, a single elf can't do it alone.

EDIT: I also suggest reading this book if you want any background information on Tethyr.

Wonderful!

Tuned, I would love to have you on board, and please feel free to make whatever you would like to play! It's more important that you would have fun role playing your character than filling a gap in the party, and I'll accomodate anything to fit the parties needs, just as long as we can get the game rollin'!

Also, with Tuned as our second player, I only need one more minimum to start the game, so join up folks!

And Ayrn, once again thank you for your unconditional support through out all this, I really appreciate it =)

Looking at the land of intrigue it is an amazing book, but how much of it has changed from 2nd edition to 3.5 edition, lore wise?

books

I'm not sure. The book may be 2e but it details Tethyr in 1370 and 3e starts in year 1372.... I can't imagin too much will have changed unless WOTC has botched up and made continuality errors.

I thought this was the book you were talking about earlier Jozan. Maybe not.

EDIT: I wouldn't put in past WOTC to botch up can make massive continuality errors

heheh.

From what I've gathered from previous projects the transition from 2e to 3e in terms geographically corresponding events in time (and in particular characters traveling from one location to another)holds up fairly well.

Thanks for the resource Loki, I'd forgotten I had it.It is among my incomplete collection of ~99ish 2e Forgotten Realms books I dug up for research and such.

Ayrn, thank you for your suggestions.

And it is not that I feel obligated to fill a gap, it is just that the phrases "why dont we have a tank" and "who's bright idea was it to not have a healer" come to mind.

will post character concepts momentarily... reading an article
