It must be nice, this innocence of youth. As someone who fought and was wounded fighting for this country we live in to give you the right to express what you have posted here tonight I differ in my thoughts then the two of you, Takley & Riaucard. If not for men like me and those that died on this day 10 years ago and the millions that died over the centuries fighting to keep this country safe you three might not be here today.

Your opinions are your own and I do not begrudge them to you I’ll just chalk them up to the arrogance and fickle nature of the young. For us older, wiser ones, 9/11 is a date none of us will ever forget and that’s the way it should be.

there are those of us who while young in body are not in mind and soul.i shall let you beleive what you wish but here is a truth: human beings will never change as a whole we will always argue and fight amoung ourselves and the young will always be arrogant and rebellious against the old as much as the old will always impose themselve and their ideals upon the young, many a grudge or feud still rage on for something that cannot be remembered, to stop being this we will stop being human and become something much greater.

As a native born American citizen and a combat veteran of the U.S. Army, I stand by what I said. The most powerful message you can send to a terrorist is "you don't matter." We are currently sending the opposite message.

As another American born combat vet I agree to disagree with you, how about we leave it at that.

No compelling reason we should all think alike. That would be the opposite of freedom, however you slice it.

I'm Canadian, born and raised, I've lived alongside American's served across border's with them, carried, mended, drank laughed cried, married and bore child with one of them and 9/11 will arguably never be something the American pride will pass off as something to let 'fall by the wayside. To do so in many a mind is to insult those who died that day, and lay open the opportunity for a similar tragedy to repeat itself should vigilance ever fall short.

However, by publicly media-glory-hounding our remembering their loss, we empower our enemies with memory of their victory. So it's 6 of one half a dozen of the other. And it shall always be a double sided knife. In war, there are no victors, merely pawns holding positions of power or influence in a power game played by men safe at home in offices or bunkers, until a better more skilled player (or cheater as the case may be) steps up to the board.

I salute those in any status, field, branch of the military, or civilian way of life that serve in life by action to defend anything they hold valuable and true. The ability to place a creed or sense of duty above your own life is a grand stamp of character in any respect. However, I'll simply turn down the radio for awhile, pay my silent respects, flip through the photos I took from the rooftops across from ground zero mere days after the incident, and pay my respects to those who have left us, and those left to carry on.

for that is how humans work, we are all pawns of course but the real question is whos really pulling all of your puppet strings, hmm?

but yeah, we don't forget it, but we don't remember it more than I day at a time.There is also thousands of other secrets that the american government doesn't anyone to know. Some regarding other important american events that you guys regard as important.

Im not saying that you don't have the freedom to debate the appropriateness, the morality,or the pro and cons of honoring these people, but could you have made a new thread for it. You have the freedom to do that too. Im disappointed that more than half this thread was used in this way.

But viewing this sort of event as a tragedy to be commemorated by remembering American troops, American people...

It gets us further from the human aspect. These were human beings, people who didn't live as long as they should have been allowed to. Just bog-standard, common human beings. A human is a human, no matter what "nationality" they are of.

Which makes them far more important than any national denomination can imply.

(PS: On a side note, I personally find Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue inappropriate as songs go.)
