Well . . .

I might be in a position to add another game. I have a little experience with edition 5. But here's the thing - I have a slight familiarity with the module in question. Not in detail, but a general sense of "oh, the castle is that way" sort of thing from flipping through the book. I think I could quite reasonably play the role as if I know nothing, but might not be the best addition to the game.

Still, there only appear to be a couple of others throwing their hats in the ring. I was waiting to see if others did so. Perhaps a closed mouthed third player is for the best. What do you think?

If you are interested, I could probably get something thrown together this weekend. I believe one character is a dwarf warlock. Is there anything else in particular that the group needs? I can be flexible on character class if need be.

Can I play?

I have a little bit of experience with 5e (just two adventures), haven't played the one you've mentioned.

I be interested in playing. Barbarian, Wizard, or Rogue would all be fine with me. Any preference?

Party

Currently there is a fighter (with a strength of 19 and very high stats in general), and a warlock.

So the party could use a rogue, for sure. People can be whatever they want, I don't care if everyone's a figher, thought that could lead to trouble for the party of course.

Nomad, I don't mind that you know the module, but it means you'll have some spoilers for sure, and I do ask that you try to play your character as if he did not have knowledge of key things.

First a welcome

Let me start be saying "welcome!" To both Lano and Norm. The inn is a great place - certainly a great place to game, but also just a great place with great people. I arrived looking for a place for a game and haven't left.

I'll join the group. As I said before, I'll try to get something together this weekend.

And Lano - the icon picture by your name. What is that thing? A salamander?

Thanks for the welcome

Lano, I am wondering if it would be okay if we added the Half-Elf and Half-Orc races to the list of playable races?

I would like to play either a Half-Elf Rogue (a swashbuckler from Neverwinter) or a Half-Orc Barbarian (an outcast from the North)

If you'd rather keep it as is, I can probably come up with the iconic Halfling Rogue.

Yo.

My last 5e game didn't get very far. I'd like to give it another try.

5.0 and Away You Go..........

If I wasn't so busy at work I might have joined but can't right now.

We are doing a 5.0 table top in the Ravenloft theme.

May tabletop group started with the "Starter" adventure. I was the Dwarv Cleric. Speaking of clerics, I think you guys should get a healer on the team.

Players so far

Padre
Schnozzle
Nomad
Norm
Chessi

That's five. Which is actually the number of players the module is designed for, so I'm thinking of calling it at that.

I'm good to start when everyone has character sheets ready. I'll look them all over before starting.

Nomad's question

It's a "salamander warrior" apparently. It's one of the default avatars. I would prefer a stock photo of a real live komodo dragon, but that's not an option, apparently...

Norm's question

the thing with half elves and half orcs (and dragon born and gnomes) is that the handbook specifically says that they are "uncommon" races.

Like, if you're a half-orc, especially a barbarian one, you're probably not going to be allowed in bars, or if you are, people are going to shuffle out as you walk in. Orcs just have a really bad reputation, and most people who see you are going to make assumptions about you.

Half elves can get along more easily, so I guess that makes sense.

If you REALLY want to be an uncommon race, I guess why not, though.

Totally cool about sticking to the opening post

so, so far we have
a human fighter (padre)
a dwarf warlock (schnozzle)

has anyone else decided on what they hope to play?
is a cleric as important as odyson suggests?

healing

Having a "white mage" is always a good thing, but it's not absolutely necessary. And other classes, like a rogue, can be just as important. The game is pretty balanced that way.

You don't have to be a cleric to be a healer, paladins make decent healers too. And I'd be surprised if none of the mage-proper classes (like druids, wizards, sorcerers) don't have healing abilities, though I don't know of any healing spells of the top of my head.

Also, you don't have to be a magic user to heal, healing potions and other medicines can be available (and healing is a possible skill proficiency).

I have no experience with 5ed, but my experience with 3.5, 3, 2, and other RPGs suggests that yes having either a cleric or druid is a must.
And unless they changed it significantly arcane spellcasters can't cast healing spells.
