Jon Small Info
Jon grew up in one of the nor'eastern coastal towns. He knew at the young age of 12 that he wanted to be an adventurer, because as the third son of a merchant of mnediocre means, he could not hope to inherit the father's business or any portion of control of it. From the moment of that epiphany, Jon steadfastly worked toward that goal, badgering anyone he knew with fighting ability (and he knew quite a few, locally) to train him.
One mentor, in particular, altered the course of Jon's chosen profession slightly. Edwin Mooney, the lowner of a local travelling circus, introduced Jon to the philosophy of the ranger. The young trainee eagerly adopted the philosophy and heeded Edwin's training and his later recommendations for further training in the learning of geographical and naturalistic knowledge.
And so there came a time when Jon had learned all that he could learn, at least where he was. So with his father's poorly-subdued eager blessing, and the rather meager (in his eyes) "gifts" supplied to him, he began his journey southward, keeping to himself mostly, and always listening for an opportunity to "make his mark" in the world ... While he understands that his current knowledge is the result of the training from others, he considers himself a "self-made man" ...
At a little over 6 feet tall, Jon is relatively healthy and youthful-looking. He wears black leather armor, well-worn but obviously in good repair. He has a vary large quiver of arrows, a tightly bound bundle, strapped to his backpack. Slung diagonally across his back is a composite short bow, at his side is a short sword, and carried in his left hand (usually) is a quarterstaff.
