moving forward
The team did as ordered and moved back from the entranceway. The Captain moved down the hallway and into the entrance of the large room. The statue of Hamon-rye is about 20 feet tall and was once painted gold, silver and blue but the paint has faded over the many years, thus its splendor is long gone except for the two eyes of the statue are still there - blue sapphires.
This room was obviously set up as a command centre by the Nazis, and then hell broke loose as tables are overturned and the walls are pockmarked by machinegun fire. Wandering about in the room are two Egyptians and four Nazis zombies. On the flour are at least another ten Egyptians and 3 nazis, all truly dead and partially consumed.
The Captain mustered the most alluring of 'pssht's to the closest zombie, then turned around and smacked one of his own buttcheeks. The ploy works as they start moving towards him, although slowly.
The Captain drew the undead into the corridor and down the hall. The team set upon them with shovels and stakes to dispatch them with a minimum of fuss and noise. These particular creatures were slow moving and not very intelligent so killing them was not difficult for the team. If these were the worst you would face on this mission, it would be an easy one, but that rarely proved to be the case.
(assuming you will now move into the room)
The Nazis had only just begun to establish a command post when the zombies attacked. There is blood stained papers all over the floor. Some gold antiquities have been scattered throughout the room.
Star notices a set of hieroglyphs in the corner of the room that do not fit with the standard "Hamon-Rye is great and powerful" that fills the room. These ones read.
"Though her spirit lies far from us in heaven westward, she will come again and be everlasting"
There are two doors, both closed up and with a quick check, appear to be locked or barred from the other side.

Stand guard
Corban helped bring down the zombies. He couldn't help wonder why the Nazis had so much difficulty with them. Had they not realized that the head bash was the key to dezombification? Were they surprised by an assault of the slow moving shamblers out of the doors? The zombies were slow enough that hardly seemed possible. And Nazis may be Nazis, but that didn't mean stupid - or this whole war would be a lot easier than it was. So how did a group of slow moving zombies kill a bunch of Nazis and destroy their base of operations? This just didn't seem right.
As the rest of the group looked at the hieroglyphs and the rest of the room, the sniper took his place as rear guard. He stood to the side of the entrance hall and kept his gaze down that hall with his trusted rifle close to hand. He didn't want to make any noise, but he also didn't want anything to come up behind them.

Onward............
Doc saw Star and Sarge grab their entrenching tools and figured that was as good weapon against slow moving animated corpses as anything. It proved true as the Captain lured the creatures into the hall.
Moving into the room Doc saw the papers strewn across the floor and a few gold objects. The Nazis were well known for stealing priceless art and it looked like they may have been doing it here too.
Star had moved to some picture graphs on the wall and the others were examining a set of doors. He guessed the doors would be their next objective, to get through them.

power within word
Keeping one eye on the zombies Star's eyes kept being drawn back to the giant Hammond-Ra. Her eyes raking over the glyph s quickly translating them in her mind.
The most were admonitions to the opulentic powers of Hamond-Ra. Though a small set stood apart making a soft shiver as she unconsciously spoke aloud the translations.
"Though her spirit lies far from us in heaven westward she will come again an be everlasting."
Stars voice was quite deepened by a quavering but thick Romanian accent. The sense of dread an foreboding washed over her.
Those words were laced with power, ancient power that which didn't dwell in this world any longer.
Star moved over an lightly traced her fingers over the glyph s. what evil were the calling upon? what power were they dabbling with to unleash upon the rest of the unsuspecting world?

Search.........
As the Captain checked the room and paper to decide their next action doc set about checking the bodies. Jack was so concerned about determining the cause of death but more to collect usable items. The flickering lights was a good sign they would need light as they moved deeper into the ruin. So flashlights and supplies were gathered. The team medic layed his finds out on the table so the team could pick what they might need.
(Ok Roger,what does Doc find?)

Sarge knew the team was well trained. The captain was looking over the papers, Doc was gathering things and others stood guard. After carefully cleaning his E-tool and returning it to its pouch, he moved over to the captain. "Find anything useful sir?"

findings
The captain lured the zombies back into the corridor, where the team made short work of the undead. They searched the room at the end of the hallway, looking for ammo, rations or, more importantly, any clue to what had happened here. Was it the wrath of some Egyptian God that had turned these Nazis and their workers into flesh-craving living corpses? Was this the power of the staff being used by the wrong hands?
The Captain was looking into the papers that were scattered all around the room when the Sergeant came over asking about his findings.
"I'm not sure, Mr Branigan. Other than the words on the wall I don't think we'll be able to gather much information here. We need to get deeper into the building. We'll start there."
He pointed to the eastern set of doors. "Do you think we'll be able to get through them?"

We can get through them sir. Just a matter of how long it takes and how much noise we make doing it.

doors and death
The tale of what happened here can be told in the bodies of the dead and recently undead at least to the Doc's eyes. The Nazis had attempted to burn the bodies of the temple guardians but they rose up as zombie like creatures and attacked the Nazis. They became monsters themselves, obviously very rapidly and they in turn attacked the Nazis inside. At first it was a blood bath but the Germans must have realized that head shots worked and quickly eliminated enough of them to run further into the temple and bar the doors. But were there still dead Egyptians in the temple?
There are 4 flashlights that are still operational, three sets of matches and assorted German rifles . The papers are all in German and appear to be mostly charts and movement records. The antiquities are gold, and no doubt valuable but right now, treasure is the last thing on anyone mind.
The door on the western side was held firm and steady. The eastern side doors seems give a bit (most likely barred in haste) and you are reasonable sure that you could force the doors with a bit of effort.
As the captain makes his decision as to what direction to go, the peace is disturbed by the sound of gunfire, deep within the temple. Somewhere, the Nazis were still fighting.

Head shots, it is all about head shots. At least with zombies. Everybody knew that.
Corban held his post by the main entrance. His job was to keep an eye on the rear and that is what he did. It seemed this was a place where a corpse had to be killed twice. they would need to make sure as they went deeper that any bodies they encountered were minus a head. Gruesome work, but less undesirable than fighting them twice.
Hearing the gun shots deep within the temple he smiled. Maybe the Nazis and zombie-types would take each other out. He doubted they'd be able to stroll into an empty room and pick up the pieces, but it was possible that the enemy - whichever enemy that was - might be weakened. Or maybe made stronger by a new pile of bodies. Who knew in these damnable places? Certainly a sniper from the boonies didn't.
So Corban just held his position and waited for those in charge to make the decisions. But he continued to muse about things that go bump in the night because, well, why not?
(Edit to account for the lack of a post by the CO)
Seeing Doc move to the door and begin working to open it, Corban held his position as rear guard. He didn't want to leave the entrance unguarded. Still, if it looked like more muscle would be needed, he would move over and add his efforts to those of Doc and the rest. But he would keep his eyes on the rear while doing so.

"So Captain, shall we go join the fun or try the other direction?" Sarge was looking at the door that barred the way towards the noises.

Let''s Go..........
Doc handed one of the flashlights to Star. "It'll be gettin dark down there without these generators runn'in. You seem to understand that stuff on the walls..you need light to read it." He then tuck one inside his jacket, Jack knew it was touch sewing up wounds in the dark. The same went for a pack of matches, a hot flame to sterilize needle and such was also handy. He then tossed a flashlight to Corbin.
The Captain and Sarge were talking so as to not to interrupt he passed the matches to Sarge and the last flash to the Captain.
Heading back across the room Jack had no need for the German guns so he left them for the others. The east door he had noticed it seemed to flex a bit, maybe a knife up the seam might find a latch on loosen the bolt. As he stood thinking the sound of distant gun fire from beyond the door. From the sound and the echo he estimated it was a couple of levels below. He grabbed one the German bayonets, headed to the doors and started working to see if he could lift the bar or trip a latch.

light on...
Star took the flashlight from doc. Her eyes scouring the hieroglyphs. Tucking the flashlight under one arm star slinging the rifle over her shoulder she drew her pistol. Her eyes darting around making sure the party was still near her, not wanting to get left behind.

moving forward
By pushing hard with enough of the men, you cause the bar to lift and bend a bit since it was not put into the sconces properly. Once you do, McGuiness and the Sarge are able to use knifes to lift the bar up and fall out of place to allow you into the chamber beyond. The wooden beam clatters noisily to the ground as you do.
You enter a room with a set of stairs going down into a series of chambers, walled off and with bunk beds in all. This was the living area for the Egyptians who lived in this temple. The room is dark, no electric lights had been set up in here. The flashlights you have pierce the darkness to reveal that the bunks have all been searched and all the chests of personal items have been turned over and ransacked.

Deeper into the night
Corban couldn't help but cringe when the dropped with a loud noise. But some things could not be avoided.
As they moved into the room he held his position in the rear. A quick glance around the room showed him the bunks and trunks all rummaged through. The Nazis, it seemed, had made it this far with enough time to go digging around. So likely they weren't under attack at this point.
Those thoughts passed through his mind as he held his position by the steps they came down - just a bit to the side so he would have cover from the side walls. He allowed the others to mover further into the room, check out the beds and the doors. He kept his eyes and rifle trained on the room they had left. It was well lit, so he should have no trouble identifying motion up there if something tried to come up on them from the rear.
Watch the rear, that was his job. He would move forward towards the door, taking up a position somewhat sheltered by the bed nooks, when they got ready to open the doors. But his eyes, as always, would be towards the rear.
