Answer @ Ody
Tann, do you think Ash and Wolf should be on the ground or take a position up on the ship's body? There is a little room to hide behind the landing gear or ever in the gear's bay. If we go up we can see the approach but there is less cover.
They might remember Ash hiding up on the tail before. Just don't see a bunch of options.
Well honestly I have no clue where we should be at but putting us both in the same spot I think would be a mistake. One well placed Gren and we are both out instead of just one of us. Your the better shot with a sighted rifle so a higher vantage point is always good. If these guys are true pros no matter what, if they remember or don't, they will at least assume a sniper on top of the ship.
As to the best place for Wolf with the JC assault rifle I have no idea. Maybe behind a landing strut or within a well crafted bunker at the top of the Roc's loading ramp but that would mean leaving it open. Maybe hiding somewhere on the Roc's belly in some kind of easy to get out of harness? Best thing maybe is to just tell Wolf where to go, point it out on the map and I'll go. He's the mechanic not a combat trained soldier.

no combat experience
While most of your characters have no combat experience, you can try to think like your opponent and work on that basis.
Now I have no combat experience but I would think you want to work on the basis of hitting them and running, hitting them and running. So you want to have several fall back position. Wolf with machine guns and Asher in the hills covering him.
They can't use scatter gun, kill anything that moves tactics. Remember what it is they want and use it to your advantage. hell, strapping the silver case to Wolf or Asher might scare them a little.
Does that help?

working on map
This is what I am thinking of using for the landscape. Landing strip in lower centre, atmo processor near top and the caves on the upper left.

Brain isn't functioning.
I must be tired because I'm really not thinking well. That's a lot of flatland for the landing strip. I am thinking that we definitely need to utilize guerilla tactics.
If I were the big baddies I'd think that the only places I'd expect the case to be would include the ship and the processor. I'd be thinking of them as the best defensible positions.
So, if Tess manages to take out the big transport ship then any plan they'd have to just lift Roc out of the valley will be eliminated. Of course, that means that Tess would need to hit them by surprise in order to keep the ASREV from shooting down the shuttle, but I don't see that being a problem.
The troops will likely land in the space Roc rests. I'd even split the troops to head for the processor and Roc. They definitely outnumber us. So, if Asher and Wyatt get in position to harry the troops as soon as they land and then lead them away from Roc with moves pulled straight out of the Patriot we might be able to even draw enough to make it easier for Wolf to defend Roc.
My thought is that we can't outgun these guys, and we don't want to engage in an all-out firefight. We just want to keep them busy and annoyed so they don't concentrate their forces and perhaps draw them into situations where we can really whittle away at their forces.

day 4 of 2:30am wake ups. Let's talk tired
So here is what I worked out using the map I pulled. The white represent the max elevation in that area. So there are some hills and cover near the strip. If you need more info or details, let me know.
As I have provided this map late, you may plan and develop a strategy now before your next moves.
I apologize for not doing this up ahead of time. I was trying to get away without doing a map and it just did not work.

But Your Maps Are Great!
Sure I make fun sometimes....er...well...most of the time...BUT they really do help.
So Brom, you think Wyatt and Asher should take the mule? It might help them move place to place quickly to harry the badies and avoid being pinned down. Harder to hit a moving target.

You got a knife, i got a gun, come on boys we're gonna have a little fun
Mules is good. You also have a second shuttle and a earth mover that could be repaired.
Wolf can rig the sleep gas that Willow provided to the cargo bay. He could also rig the cargo bay door to fail by draining the hydraulics thereby causing the doorway to crash down as soon as it is accessed.
