Flying Battle Plan...........
We could have John fly the other shuttle and create a diversion for Tess to drop the missile. Asher can arm Havelock, he could fly with John and shoot out the of the hatch and drop the extra grenades. A well timed and placed EM grenades could knock out some of the system on the Merc ships. We have three. The missile and those might even the odds a bit. Flash bangs and gas grenades in the middle of the advancing foots would reduce their numbers.
For that matter, Jessy or Ma (Ma is Combat trained)could fly with Tess and toss out grenades after the missile is dropped.
The shuttles could be up that valley behind the Atmo and when the Mercs ship are low near the Roc they come over the 1000 foot low mountain and swoop down. Attack from above and it would be nice if that happened to be out of the sun so they are hard to see.
If Roc is rigged for gas then Wolf won't want to be inside unless he has a gas mask.
Turning the four boys loose on the lift truck might get it repaired, basic hydraulics and mechanics. Not sure how we use it but maybe Sifu would figure out something.
Wyatt and Asher take some high ground on one of the side and direct fire down from 200 or 300 feet. When they draw fire they hop in the mule and skeedattle around the back and pop up some where else to start shooting. Too bad we only have one mule, we could have split and set up a cross fire.
Ok, that's food for thought on a possible battle plan. I'm open to more ideas.

Imagination Run Wild............
Cool Movie Moment....
Tess and John swing out to make a second run, turning again to keep the mountain and sun to their backs. As they bank to make their pass again the Merc ASREV turns to fire on them.
From over head another BOOM sounds and dark shadow casts over the shuttles. Over their comm comes "This is Marshall Sanders, you little bugs clear my path." John and Tess privet quickly as a Fed ASREV drops into the fray and opens fire, shredding the Dragon painted on the side of the Merc ship.
Loud music can be heard blearing from the Fed ship as it reeks havoc on the Dragons. (flight of the Valkyries)

I'm thinking a bit more clearly now...
Thanks for the map, Roger. It really helps us visually-minded peoples.
Ody, I like the ideas. I hadn't even thought of giving Roc gas, or using Roc's skirts to flatten people trying to enter. This is why I'm an artist and not a West Point graduate. I do like the ideas. Roger? does Wolf have time to do both? If we don't have a gas mask we do have space suits Wolf could get in to protect against the gas.
It'd be best to have Asher in the mule as he's a hovercraft pilot. John is a good pilot, so he can take the shuttle with Havelock. Tess in the other shuttle with Ma...once they drop the bomb they skidattle to the caves where they can hide the shuttle inside and be there to help with finding the mole and providing protection. Wyatt wouldn't be keen on putting Ma in trouble if he could help it...ok so this is what I've worked out based off of feedback and ideas:
- Tess and Ma will take the shuttle loaded with the big boom up to the area marked on the map as Langley Mount and wait until they can come in effectively on the cargo ship's six to take it out.
- John and Havelock will take the second shuttle to the area to the west of Roc marked with the 200-ft. elevation where they will wait until the opportunity arises to use the shuttle for hit and runs on the ground forces, or dropping EMPs, etc....
- Asher and Wyatt will take the mule with Asher at the wheel to the East of Roc in the hills there where they will begin their guerrilla tactics once the troops have landed.
- Wolf will rig Roc to lose hydraulics in the cargo bay ramp should anyone try to access it, and then set up the gas as Roger so kindly suggested while outfitting himself with the proper gear to avoid gassing himself. He'll stay with Roc and protect her as much as possible.
- Willow, Sifu, and Jessy will join with Matherson at the caves in an attempt to weed out the mole. They will also set the four theoretical physicists to work on repairing the land mover just in case we figure out some use for it. Besides, it'll keep their minds busy.
Did I miss anyone/anything?

John
John was going to work on the transmitter of the Head boomers in an attempt to figure out the code. He can not do that and fly a shuttle. Which would you prefer? John vote is the tech in a cave not flying anywhere near where people can shoot at him.

My two cents
I stil don't have Internet. I am at work, so this will be brief.
I very much doubt our little bomb will take out that huge transport ship. I think Brom's original idea of taking out the ... Er.... ship crane? was a good one.
But I shall do as my captain commands!

cargo
I believe Bromern means the cargo lifter as Tess's target, not the transport.

Pilots........
So then Wyatt is our only other pilot?
So Wyatt and Havelock?
Wyatt and Ma?
Tess and Jessy?
Asher and Havelock?
Wolf and space suit?
John figuring out the helmet in time to knock off a bunch is a good thing too.

Wyatt can pilot...
Did I confuse ships? Yes...drop the bomb on the cargo lifter.
Ma can pilot the shuttle. She's not that proficient with a rifle, and if we're shooting from the shuttle, then Asher should be the one in the shuttle shooting while Ma pilots it.
Can Havelock drive a mule? I mean, if it comes down to it Wyatt can drive the thing, but he's not going to be as good at avoiding trouble or pulling donuts as, say, Wolf would be. But if it comes right down to it, Wyatt and Havelock can take the mule and run the ground campaign.

Havelock
Havelock can drive a Mule or pilot a shuttle. His skill is average in both but he knows how to run them. He will tell you his skill with a pistol is better than with rifle but he has plenty experience in both.

Good Story............
Great read Brom, I can work well with that. I'll start on my post.
I'll be sure to have Asher arm Havelock.

thoughts on life skills
I am thinking that there should be something in the rules for basic life skills on a ship. I was thinking that everyone would have a basic d2 in pilot (ship and shuttle), drive (Mule or rover) and basic repairs. So nothing fancy but able to steer, land, lift off and coast if necessary.
Thoughts?
