hehe
Guess that means we should all smite Kaelyn then.
On another note, I was helping some people that had never played D&D before create some characters, and was reminded that both hand crossbows and bastard swords are exotic weapons. In which case I don't think either Linnix or Artanis have the feats necessary to be proficient in the weapons they are using.
So you might have to tinker with those character sheets a little.

Oh and was Artanis wearing the chain shirt when her shield exploded, or was she wearing her old leathers?
(if it's the latter, at least she'll have some armour to wear later)

Good Question.
No, I had not put on the new armor, but if I understood the post correctly, even that would have been destroyed as it was in her pack which was with her when she entered the cave...is that right? although technically I hadn't posted that I put that in my pack either...so I'm not really sure.

Linnix is proficient with hand crossbows because Rogues get it a s a class weapon prof.
I gave Artanis Exotic WEapon prof Bastard sword in replacement of Quick draw since it hadn't been used.
I had presumed as had DA that when she donned the chain she simply stowed the leathers, thus both were destroyed and taken off her sheet (hence her AC of only twelve)
There is a suit of banded mail stil left over, and you do have at least one captive wearing chainmail (chain mail not a chain shirt for reference)
Update today at some point I'm thinking.

I'm not sure it's a lull exactly. I think Kaelyn has just been busy with rl stuff.
From what he was saying yesterday, he'll be posting an update today.

Spellings
Dragon Mistress I have no problem with what you write, but can you least try to spell Aelistae's name right? It doesn't take long to run through a post and correct any misspellings.

Question
If the person was unarmed, how could they take an attack of opportunity? I don't think you're allowed to follow through an attack of opportunity if the response would provoke one as well (which an unarmed strike or trip attempt would normally).

simple answer
improved trip feat
An improved trip feat doesn't provoke attacks of oportunity

Hmm, even then...
Are you sure that you can trip for an AoO? I thought you're only allowed a melee attack (pg 137 makes it appear that way anyway).
Just wondering because that'd be good to know if you can do things other than attack on an AoO... now off to school...

Melee attack
If you look up Trip, a Trip attempt is a form of a melee attack. Therefore it falls under the same ruling as far as I'm concerned.

Yep, I'm afraid Kaelyn is right on this one. It's one of the issues that was clarified years ago in the faqs and errata.
In fact I'm sure you could still find that info if you looked hard enough on the D&D website.
