to clarify...

You may have noticed a bit of a "Horatio Hornblower" flavor to my Trek, which is intentional.

Note that Drake's line - "My regards to Commander Zai, and will he please ensure that you spend plenty of time in the holosuites on an appropriate range of simulations to help further your education" - is not an intended offence against Zai, nor should it be perceived that way.  This is simply an observation that the junior officer in question is deficient in his duties, and needs to see his superior office regarding improvement.

Were we to go seriously old school, a truly out of line enlinsted or cadet that didn't warrant an actual NJP might be the recipient of something like "my regards to the First Officer, and will he please cane you for your insolence."

It's sort of a formal way of "say hi to your boss for me when he fixes the crap you are doing wrong."

I * think* that Eol and I are on the same page in reference to this sort of thing, but not everyone may be familiar with it.

Yeah...

...I got that, boss. Tochi understood the sentiment just as intended. To that end, I definitely foresee Ens Garner having some mandatory sim time in his future. Tochi probably will be a tad "easier" on him than Drake was, considering the boy is about as green as they get having just graduated and all, but, that's what the XO's for, right?

Yep, that's exactly what XOs are for.

Indeed

"and will he please cane you for your insolence" will be my new mic drop line whenever I win an argument.

That was an excellent post for Ol' Spots. Bravo. I'll work to have something up today but my day is running short on available time so it may not be until sometime this weekend that I manage.

All right, I've just posted.

coolness

I may post todayish to move the game forward slightly.  As always, if you haven't yet had a chance to post - feel free to backpost.  Keep the time/date stuff straight, and life is good.

I just don't want things to stagnate; I think that it's important to keep a positive flow.

Crowe - understand that Drake's reaction (and his behavior in the upcoming post) are not in any way negative towards you as a player.  Drake is a bit of a hardass, and I'm just playing him as such.  I thought that your post was very creative, and it gives us a lot of RP fodder to use in the future.  The best, most interesting characters make mistakes and have flaws; this makes them so much more relatable and fun to follow as they grow.  Realistically, all junior officers get to learn things the hard way.

Excellent, indeed!

A quote about the apple not falling far from the tree comes to mind but... you know... You probably already knew that.

The apple doesn't fall far and makes a good pie, right?

He is a talented young man. That's for sure.

Great post, Giddy!

I'll likely post again after Olan has. Asovil is sufficiently embarrassed now and will hurry from the Bridge in case anyone is posting anything further before I get the chance.

Awww...

...no one fell down the turbo lift shaft?

What kind of evil GM are you???

I suppose I should do something about an NPC post or two from Flight Control personnel, too... At least by way of checking in with a few characters and, perhaps, setting up some RP fodder for Ens Garner.
