'There is no emotion; there is only peace'

“I am Si-Di,” She says in a comforting and non-threatening tone, “I would like to ask you all some questions if I may regarding the explosion that took place just a little while ago which claimed the life of a Jedi Master.”

She is met with grumbles by some, total indifference by others. Some are too busy to bother, others are irritated at being told they're going to be questioned after just being knocked off their feet by an explosion.

The Sullustan bartender, who is nearby, sighs. "Probably not the best time, gal," he mutters, on his way to bring water to some of the injured. "You may have to wait awhile."

“It is never a good time for murder,” she responds to the bartender in a calm firm voice implying that she is not going to be swept aside by people’s indifference to the Jedi or by their discomfort at being detained for questioning. Master Allum had always told her… she paused in her moment of reflection.. ah poor Master Allum.. she missed him already.. and she had not forgotten to see to his body.. if any remained… she should have asked Master Arkana to see to it before finding their lodgings but it would have to wait. The ship was still hot and there would be time to see to the Master’s final resting after she found the ones who had set off the bomb that killed him.

Her eyes continued to scan the people in the room, she ignored those that were lying about with injuries, her deductive mind told her that the bombers .. if they were here.. would have been at a safe distance and this building did provide adequate cover and was within view of the landing pad so they could see when to set off their explosives.

"Banthas' Balls look another one!"
A commotion drew Si-Di‘s attention to the back corner of the cantina where she spotted two Arcona facing a human who had just yelled out. She watches as the Arcona turned to look in the direction the human pointed and then one of the Arcona drew his blaster on the human. The blaster wielding Arcona was met squarely in the crotch by a fierce kick from the human who then dived away and ran towards them as they stood just inside the doorway. (I assume there is only one doorway here as most cantinas like to limited egress points. If I am wrong please correct me).

"Jedi!" the first Arcona shouts, snatching the blaster away from his 'incapacitated' partner.

He looks like he's about to take aim at one of the Jedi, when the scarred Arcona knocks his hand down. "You idiot!" he says audibly. Soon all eyes in the cantina are on the two aliens; the lead Arcona aims his blaster at the ceiling and fires two times, then blasts out the window.

The two make a mad dash for the window...

When the Arcona yells out and begin to throw blaster fire about the cantina, Si-Di nods to herself and thinks ‘Looks like we found our bombers’. As the third blaster bolt shattered the window, Si-Di turns and runs out the doorway yelling to Ninkanna.

“Pursue them, I will try and cut them off,” she says disappearing out the door and heading around towards the window through which they were escaping. She hoped to meet them there but if not she would pursue them if they fled.

As she cleared the doorway, she drew her shoto light saber and ignited it even though they had not fired at them directly; she believed that they were attempting to cause a panic in the cantina in order to cover their escape. But if they saw her pursing them closely they might change there mind and if so she wanted to be ready to deflect any blaster bolts that came her way. (Deflect Lv 1)

(OOC: I understand Vitality points now.. I guess it helps to read the manual , they are not really damage exactly but are the prelude to damage or Wounds. A short bit for any other new players such as myself:

Damage is usually deducted from your Vitality points which represent your character’s ability to roll with an attack and avoid physical damage. Wound points represent how much physical damage a character can take before falling unconscious or dying. Damage is deducted from your wound points only after you’ve exhausted your vitality points or when you are struck by a critical hit.
So there you have it. I guess Si-Di isn’t as hurt as I thought earlier.. 'It’s just a flesh wound.' Sorry if I have already explained what everyone knows, I just wanted to share just in case. )

Thank you

Lysander was not entirely sure why he always seemed to get into trouble, just unlucky he guessed. But regardless, he seemed to have found himself in trouble once more. His distraction had bought him some time, and the kick in the groin had certainly helped in delaying his aggressors, but now that he was clear he could do his own bit of helping out.

Being sure to keep the jedi between himself and the Arcona, Lysander drew his heavy blaster. While not a fighting man Lysander certainly loved this gun. Big enough to knock the feet out from under anyone, it had carried him threw more than enough close calls to be worth the extra credits he had spent on it.

Lysander quickly set the gun to stun and took aim at the Arcona. He was not a murderer, well...at least not yet. But right now these Arcona needed to be questioned. Then again, the possibilty of a reward for a live capture was present as well. Maybe things would turn out alright.

Blast em!

Ninkanna gives chase to the Arcona, bolting to the opposite end of the bar, with Kavtan in tow, activating his stun baton. Ninkanna's lightsaber hums to life as she starts to chase the two suspicious characters, and with her other hand she speaks into her comlink.

"Master, if you're still outside, there's two Arcona that seem to be in a hurry; I not sure that I can catch them in time," she says, but is met with something unnerving - static on the other end, and no answer. However, in the heat of the chase, her focus seems to be on the Arcona.

Meanwhile, as the two in front of him, bound across the cantina, Lysander takes aim at the nearest Arcona, the one holding the blaster, and fires his heavy blaster with the setting on stun. He fires, and a burst of blue light issues from the blaster, striking the Arcona and knocking him off his feet. He twitches, trying to get up, but slips into paralysis, dropping his blaster as his hand goes limp.

The second Arcona manages to make the leap out of the window, but the Jedi and Kavtan are so close on his tail that not long after he hits the pavement with a thud, the two are closely behind him. He glances behind him, the scar running down his face making him an unsightly, intimidating figure indeed as he snarls, then turns to run. Si-Di has ducked out of the door of the cantina, but isn't nearly as fast as Ninkanna or Kavtan and is just now catching up...

(OOC: Lysander is inside the cantina. Ninkanna, Kavtan and Si-Di now have the option to give chase to the scarred Arcona as he runs, split up, or do whathaveyou. I assumed that since the group wanted to give chase that they would all continue the chase until both Arcona were caught, which is why I had you jump out the window after the second one - if I interpreted your posts wrong, feel free to correct me).

Meanwhile, Ninkanna is still getting static on her end of the comlink, and still no answer. The Arcona they're chasing is fast and and as he begins to run again towards the street, it's clear that catching him may not be as easy as catching his companion. Si-Di can see Kavtan and Ninkanna in front of her, and the duo can hear Si-Di running behind them...

The reality dawns on the group - once the chase is taken to the streets, it may be harder to catch the elusive figure...

"There is no ignorance; there is knowledge."

Seeing Ninkanna and Kavtan chasing after the fleeing Arcona, Si-Di pulls up shortly after starting her chase. Being tall and not very strong, Si-Di was never really a good runner and her analytical mind quickly assessed her chances at catching the running Arcona as being much slimmer than Ninkanna or Kavtan. She extinguished her shoto and returned it to her belt before whirling around and heading back into the cantina.

“Everyone remain calm please,” she said aloud coming in the doorway, her tone reassuring and even, “we have everything under control.”

She walked over to the stunned Arcona and quickly picked up the blaster he had been carrying when stunned. She turned to the human male who had stunned the Arcona and bowed her head slightly.

“I want to thank you citizen,” she said with a small smile, “you may have captured one of the saboteurs who just bombed the transit ship and killed a Jedi Master. I am Si-Di and if I may have the pleasure of your name so that I may include it in my report to the authorities?”

She looked this human over and assessed his manner of dress and coming to a logical conclusion she added, “If this man is involved in the killings, I am sure the government will reward you appropriately.” Her smile broadened as she judged this man to be like most human citizens of this type, always asking what was in it for them.

"Do, or do not; there is no try."

One of the Arcona fell. The other was still on their path to evade being caught. I don't know where the streets go, and he obviously would Ninkanna muses, realizing that the chances of catching the second one grew slimmer by the second.

"Si-Di!" Ninkanna calls over her shoulder, "Stay with the other one; Kavtan and I will get this one!"

She notes the silent comlink in her hand, although she didn't try using it again; if Master Arkana was busy, she didn't need the distraction. She slips the comlink on her belt, and just concentrates on running. Concentrate on the moment, not the past or the future, because the moment is what matters at this time.

In the spirit of the chase...

(OOC: We'll keep this fast-paced...)

Ninkanna, closely followed by Kavtan, dash after the Arcona, who quickly turns the corner, heading down the road. On the street, land-speeders and speeder-bikes wizz back and forth; on them are miners, Guild and Union members wearing their respective colors and local merchants. The sidewalks are densely populated with more of the same; aliens from hundreds of worlds are walking to and from their various destinations.

As Ninkanna and Kavtan reach the street, which is perpendicular to the landing pad, they spot the Arcona, who has turned left, and it now heading towards the main street, which runs all the way through Dom-Rhett spaceport; the Arcona is heading towards what is easily the most populous area in the city.

Ninkanna concentrates on running, and she can still easily see the crook, though he is quickly being obscured. Steam billows up from the vents all over the city, pedestrians are all over the place, and the noise of speeder traffic is dulling the senses. As she runs, she bumps into a quarren in full mining gear, who shouts in a gruff, accented voice as she passes, "Oy! Yeh ahmost kilt meh wit dat ting!" He shakes his fist, gesturing at her lightsaber.

Kavtan has similiar problems, narrowly avoiding crashing into a protocol droid walking by. The motion of the two is impeded by having to weave through the crowd of miners and other pedestrians. However, as Kavtan and Ninkanna press the chase, they can see the Arcona duck into an alley just ahead. As Anna reaches the narrow street, she's met with the sight of the Arcona thug...standing with two friends, both human.

And all three of them have blasters drawn.

(OOC: Ninkanna got a 10 on initiative, the enemy party got a 16. Kavtan is just behind Ninkanna, but he's not in view of the baddies in the alley just yet - it's unclear if they know that he's not far behind Ninkanna - therefore, he hasn't enterred combat just yet. No one is surprised, since everyone is in clear view).

Ninkanna's lightsaber is already drawn, and she intuitively deflects one of the blaster bolts fired off by the human to her Arcona target's right. However, the Arcona and his friend both fire almost simultaneously just after Ninkanna's swing, and both blaster bolts strikes her. Pain hits her like a ton of bricks with the sudden attack.

Kavtan's footsteps aren't far behind, and Kavtan himself can hear the sound of blaster fire...

(Should Kavtan choose to enter combat at this point, he will make an initiative roll as soon as he turns that corner.

Ninkanna has taken 6 damage from one blast, and 7 from another, knocking out your vitality points and taking you down to 12 Wound Points. However, it is your turn, Reralae. Use it well.

Grugg and YeOlde may continue at their own pace; but as my only NPC there is stunned, I have no action to take at the cantina.)

Primal Instinct

Ambush. A counterattack. Her normally tranquil expression twists into a snarl as Ninkanna hisses in response. The human on the right fires a hasty shot, and like the shots of the remotes she had practiced with, she deflects it. However, the Arcona fires at the same time as the other human fires as well. Ninkanna is forced to strain her limbs in order to move out of the way of the first bolt, right into the path of the second. The blast cuts straight through her side, and pain sears through her body.

The screech of a cat is not a sound one would like to hear; it is the sound of pure pain given a vocalization. Such is true of the screech Ninkanna gives, although it is only a small cry, as she is not out yet. Her body grows stiff, trying to prevent further damage to the wound, but she can't allow it to slow her movement. Teachings lying forgotten on the floor of her consciousness, Ninkanna leaps forward, her left hand twitching slightly and fidgeting as she raises the lightsaber in both of her hands, leading with her right, to bring it to bear against the left human. In her violet eyes can be seen the rush of adrenaline and fear and determination that happens when one is fighting for their life.

(Ninkanna is going to try to position herself so that all three enemies are in range of her lightsaber, and is attacking the human on the left)

Kavtan Cleentor

As the pair of Arcona made for the smashed window Kavtan had little time to comprehend what happened. Si-Di was nowhere to be seen, one of the Arcona had fallen, he did not know whether it had stumbled or not, and himself and Ninkanna were chasing after the other Arcona. It made his way out onto the street, Main Street; it would be hell to follow him there.

Dashing through the crowds he nearly collided with a protocol droid but hardly noticed. Down the street the steam was obscuring the Acrona. He went down Main Street with Ninkanna and himself in close pursuit, dodging speeders and people and droids. Then he turned. Into a side ally. Ninkanna followed. He was about to turn into the ally when he heard blasters. Ambush. They had been foolish to let him get this far.

The momentum of the chase and his own adrenalin subsiding he stopped to think briefly. Would he risk his life for a Jedi? He could walk away now, forget about it and go back to normal life. On one hand travel, what he was born to do, the instinct that had lie dormant for a decade. On the other, a job.

He chose travel, putting his baton in his left hand and drawing his blaster. One of the small 'hold out' varieties he hadn't got around to adapting. (OOC: Reading an attack against the Acrona) Calmly he stepped around the corner and fired at the Arcona (OOC: using readied attack), only one shot, that should be enough to stun.

(OOC: As Kavtan is not using his stun baton he doesn’t occur any penalties for using two weapons. Also, all Kavtans weapons are always on the stun setting.)

“I am Si-Di and if I may have the pleasure of your name so that I may include it in my report to the authorities? If this man is involved in the killings, I am sure the government will reward you appropriately.”
These words brought a smile to Lysander's lips. A small bounty in credits would do wonders to improve his situation at the moment. He looked over at the stunned Arcona and the hole in the wall where the other had fled with the jedi and Duros in hot pursuit, today had certainly been interesting.

His name, the jedi had asked him for his name. To be reported to the authorities. That didn't sit particularily well with him, whether it be for good or ill.

"Friends call me Rok." he lied easily (bluff check huzzah), thinking of somethign else as he said it. He'd heard stories that these jedi could read minds. "Now if we could just get to the part where I get rewarded it would be just fine."

Continuing the fight for your LIVES!

Ninkanna lets out a primal scream and moves to attack her assailants. She advances to her left, moving to attack the human on the Arcona thug's left flank. A hint of fear can be seen in the eyes of the criminals as they see the unleashed power of a Jedi Knight, albeit even still an apprentice. Ninkanna, twirling her as she moves, strikes quickly at the human to the Arcona's left.

She slashes outward, her saber striking the human horizontally across his chest. The human makes to dodge the attack, but is not nearly fast enough; there are few simple thugs in the galaxy who would be prepared to dodge such an attack. In a flash of blue light, the human is knocked backwards by the force of the attack, the saber slicing into his chest and searing his flesh. He nearly falls to the ground, but stumbles and regains his balance. He lifts the blaster as if to fire...

Meanwhile, Kavtan catches up with Ninkanna. Readying his blaster as he ran, he is more than prepared when he turns the corner - the enemy thugs didn't even notice the sound of his footsteps over the sound of their own blaster fire. Kavtan steps out from the behind the corner and fires his blaster on stun at the ringleader - the scarred Arcona. The blast hits the Arcona squarely in the chest, and the stunned alien stumbles, disoriented momentarily. It seems as though the Arcona had mustered some kind of inner strength to withstand the full force of the attack and wasn't stunned completely...

Meanwhile, the human that Ninkanna attacked raises his blaster and fires, though she's more than ready for the attack now, and easily bats the bolt away with her saber.

The human to the Arcona's right has stopped paying attention to the Jedi and immediately looks to Kavtan as soon as he fires on the Arcona - the thug turns and fires his blaster pistol at Kavtan. It is an excellent shot, striking Kavtan directly in the chest. Kavtan is nearly knocked off his feet from the force of the blast - unlike Kavtan, this criminal is willing to set his blaster on lethal. Pain shoots through Kavtan's body, but he can feel that the blast, miraculously, was not life-threatening.

It seems as though these crooks are fighting for their lives and willing to shoot to kill...

(OOC: Alrighty then - good work, Ninkanna - you've hit that human (HARD) and easily deflected a second attack, even at point-blank range.

Good job stunning the Arcona, Kavtan - he has saved, however as was only stunned for one round. Unfortunately, the human who fired on you scored a 20 (a perfect hit) + his bonus, but failed to get a critical hit. You've taken 8 damage, knocking out your vitality points and taking your wound points down to 9.

Your moves, and good luck.)

Bluff Checkeroo

(OOC: Grugg, your obscene bluff check bonus wins it again, despite Si-Di's high wisdom. Besides, since Si-Di has no reason to suspect you're lying about such a thing, it's an easy bluff in the first place.)

“There is no Passion; there is Serenity.”

"Friends call me Rok…. Now if we could just get to the part where I get rewarded it would be just fine."
Si-Di graced him with an amused smile and a slight disbelieving shake of her head at the human giving her the expected reply. She didn’t question his name having no reason to doubt his word since he had helped them to subdue the Arcona. Hefting the Arcona’s blaster she set it to stun then knelt down by the unconscious man’s side she checked on him to make sure he was still out. She was ready to stun him again if she saw the slightest hint of movement.

If the man was still out cold, she would remove his belt, harness, or something else suitable to bind his arms behind his back.

“We must see if this man is indeed responsible for the attack,” Si-Di said to ‘Rok’ as she finished binding the prisoner. She quickly searched the man for anything that might appear useful on his person; comlink, datapad, etc.

“Did you notice anything unusual about this one and his companion?” She asked him as she returned to her feet taking a step back and covering the man with the blaster. She kept an eye on the people lingering in the cantina, wondering if anyone, the bartender or owner, were calling for authorities. It was unusual that even after the explosion there was no sign of guard troops or other authoritative figures.

Si-Di also wondered how Ninkanna and Kavtan were fairing in their pursuit with the other Arcona.

"This place can be a little rough..."

Si-Di removes the Arcona's belt and binds his hands. He is dressed in standard spacer garb, and he doesn't seem to have anything useful on him at all, aside from his comlink, into which he was speaking earlier. The blaster he had previously used was now in Si-Di's hands, and other than this, he has no possessions (aside from the clothes on him, of course).

He lets out an "Urrrpp..." as Si-Di ties his hands, but remains relatively immobile; he doesn't seem to be completely unconscious, but he's certainly not what one would call 'awake'.

If Si-Di tries the comlink, she finds that it is dead on the other end, getting nothing but static - a sure sign that it's corresponding comlink has either been turned off or destroyed. Si-Di takes a step back from the dazed Arcona.

"Did you notice anything unusual about this one and his companion?" she asked.
Before she gets a response from Rok, however, the Arcona starts to stir.

"Urrghh...what the..." The Arcona's yellow eyes to start to open. Salt is a highly addictive substance to Arcona - it causes them to hallucinate pleasurably but quickly leads to dependency. A salt-addicted Arcona is easy to spot, since their eyes turn from their natural green to a goldish yellow. Arcona addicted to salt, like this one, were prone to abandon the relatively peaceful ways of their race and turn to crime to pay for their salt habit. As he comes to, the alien starts to struggle against his bindings, then notices the blaster pistol aimed at him.

"Lemme go," he says to the Jedi. He looks back and forth between her and her companion. "Listen...if you let me go, I'll make it worth your while. In credits, see? I didn't do anything anyway, this is all just a big misunderstanding. So just let me go before any Guild security shows up, and I'll make you both richer for it."

Kavtan Cleentor

The congealed light from his blaster impacted with the Arcona, right in the chest, it was a good shot but the arcona himself couldn't appreciate it, he was on the floor. They were only guarantied a few seconds of him being out before he started coming...

It hit him, he couldn't dodge it, the thug that the Jedi, he couldn't call up her name at the moment, hadn't attacked shot him. A spasm of pain shot through his body, these were not like him, he valued life, they didn't. Fighting defensively was his only choice, he couldn't risk being shot again. He changed his gun's setting to lethal and put the majority of his energy into trying to dodge the thugs next attack and shot.

(OOC: Just to clarify, Kavtan has taken a free action to change the setting on his Hold-Out Blaster and is fighting defensively, incurring a -4 on his attack but gaining +2 to his defence)

Take Out the Snake's Head

The Arcona staggered in front of Ninkanna, and she was not about to pass up this opportune moment. Shifting her grip upon the lightsaber, so it is being lead by her left hand and aided by her right, she angles the blade and slashes at his legs.

(making a called shot against the Arcona's legs, -4 to my attack, but the Arcona is stunned I believe, so it should even out)
