Well given that he was talking about 'Qatar Riyals' I imagine he's living in Qatar.

Qatarinng

Hammer is doing missionary work in Qatar, if I remember correctly.

Let's try out my math!

70 Dirhams per liter @ 100 Dirhams per Riyal @ 3.65 riyals per dollar = .70 x 3.65 = $ 2.555 per liter.

$2.555 per liter times 3.85 liters per gallon = $9.326 per gallon.

Ick.

Gas

The city of Los Angeles has a lot of oil under it. The La Brea Tar Pits are a surface manification of the fact and LA did start out as an oil boom town. Most of the producing wells have been closed up, Since nobody wanted to live next to one. (ick spelling bad again) and the government taxed a lot of producers out of business. The environmental laws put a lot more out as well. There are a few well left but good luck in finding them. The companies that own them have erected shells to look like office buildings around them to hide the fact. If you are lucky to buy land in LA county you would be VERY lucky to get the mineral rights for your land. If some of the old wells were opened up again it will go a long way towards reducing the price, I hope.

Does Not Sound Right to Me

With all due respect for your math skills:

70 Dirhams per liter @ 100 Dirhams per Riyal @ 3.65 riyals per dollar = .70 x 3.65 = $ 2.555 per liter.

$2.555 per liter times 3.85 liters per gallon = $9.326 per gallon.

Ick.

*****
Qatar produces its own oil and gas!

3.85 liters per gallon times 70 Dirhams per liter would be 269.5 Dirhams

Every 100 Dirhams = 1 Qatar Riyal

Every 1 US dollar = 3.65 Qatar Riyals or 365 Dirhams

Therefore, 1 gallon of gas is less than 1 US dollar over here!

Make Sense?
