As are we all

I too hope she does not lose her feet or legs but if it means she lives instead of dies then the cost in my mind is worth it.

I lost 20% of my hearing in one ear and a good quarter of my past due to brain surgery to save my life and the cost was worth it.

I know what I lost is nothing compared to what she is going through and the possibility of her losing her feet or legs, but if it was me and it could save my life, no brainer. My life means more to me then the ability to walk.......

Thanks Rann'Talas

Obstacles are often presented into out lives that just prove how resilient we are. What ever happens, she will preserver.

How's she holding up?

Just checking to see how DM is doing and how are you holding up Bri? When I got back to the inn I was shocked to hear of DM's condition... I am still praying for her and hope she is making headway towards recovery... let us know how things are progressing when you get a chance. Thanks!

I remember playing many games with the both of you, I really hope DM gets out of that hospital soon enough and it's good to hear that you never gave up on her. It went from doctors asking to pull the plug to her being up and walking around. Goes to show you what doctors really know some times, eh? Just listen to what you feel and sometimes your gut feelings are right more often than not, so GL with everything and I hope for more small steps forward.

Update

I have some good news after several days of bad from the hospital. Joanne had been improving in small ways and then slipped backwards, badly. She had to be put back on BP meds and the BiPAP mask and was only occasionally opening her eyes and only aware of pain as a stimulant. It was very depressing. However, today when she woke she was more awake exercise her arms a bit, was responsive to sounds and directions. She is trying to talk but still can't produce much volume most just lip movements.

I hurried to the hospital to see her awake and encouraged her recover. I tell her all about the people who are rooting and praying for her.

Update

Hello all, I know it is been awhile since I have updated on DM's condition, because my news is not good. DM's kidneys have failed and now her liver is failing. There is nothing that the doctors can do nothing for her that will change the downward spiral. They can not do the dialysis as often she needs it. She can not even be moved. So now, for my mother and me, it is just waiting.

I so wished and prayed that it was better news. I do thank you all for you prayers and well wishes. IT really has helped during this trying time. It is like having family around to lean on.

...

With all of my graceful words and poetic prose I cannot convey the feelings within. We have all been with you both as much as we've been able, and that will not stop... ever. There are few words I can think of that express what I wish to say, but those words I think you already know, and have felt radiating from all of us in the past few months.

Prayers and positive energy will continue to flow for/to both of you, always.

I see your true colors shining through. . .

Brianna,

I think Steelight and Ye Olde pretty well covered what I would say in this situation.

This truly is the worst part--when every medical approach has been exhausted and the wellspring of hope has run dry at last and all that's left is the wait.

We lost Dad last October to a brain tumor (he'd been diagnosed early February). When he came back after his last chemo, the doctors thought he had two months, so we were hoping maybe for one last Christmas. He was gone two days later.

I won't be trite and say I've walked in your shoes, but I think I've tried on your house slippers.

I wish you, DM, and your Mom strength, love and peace.

DM

All of your words, thoughts and prayers are like a warm enveloping hug, as real as any physical hug of family and friends.

DM was a story teller from an earlier age, enmeshed in fairy tales of old and well as Sci Fi when she was older. She enjoyed her plots and twists. Her campaign world was rich with mystery, unusual situations and many supporting characters. Each with their own story, motives and personalities.
