Thanks Tek!

Thanks for the Glossary Update.

I think I will change my character to the Syln Ranger 1 / Fighter 2 I had created originally. It's basically the same as Shenandoah as far as game mechanics go, just a feat change, a couple of skill changes, and mostly a background change.

I'll look to post up the character sheet tomorrow to the recruitment thread, and try to make a short post too, though I don't have much to add to the questions already asked. The post would be more a look at the current scene from my character's eyes than moving the story forward or adding to the dialogue already present (which is my way of saying, "Feel free to post, Tek").

Other players, if you could just ignore Shenandoah for the moment, that would be great! Thanks!

Ayrn

Ideally

I should be updating on Saturday, given the way things have been going this week. Any posts not already in, try to get them up please.

Delay

A heavy workload and a nasty throat infection/head cold have hindered my posting. I will be swapping out Shenandoah for my Syln Ranger / Fighter (basically the same character mechanically). His name is Sennett. I hope to post up either tomorrow or Monday.

Thanks!
Ayrn

Sounds good

Given that, I suppose I'll just postpone till my next day off for an update, which will be Tuesday. Perhaps we'll see one from Nimu in that timeframe, as well.

New Character Sheet submitted for your approval

Name: Tobias Sennett
Race: Human [Syln]
Age: 28
Gender: Male
Height: 6 ft 2 in
Weight: 210 lbs

Class: Fighter 3
Alignment: Neutral Good

Str: 18 [+4]
Dex: 14 [+2]
Con: 16 [+3]
Int: 13 [+1]
Wis: 14 [+2]
Cha: 12 [+1]

Background: Tobias once served as a Temple Knight of Mallien in Vyrrmas. Blinded by his loyalty to the church, Tobias carried out the will of Mallien with fervour for the first eight months of the Season of the Witch. Without fail, him and his brothers hunted down and brought to “trial” witches of every sort... men, women... it mattered not. All that mattered was the will of Mallien.

But there came a time when Tobias’ unit was called to put down an entire village. It was said they were harbouring witches. It was said that they were breeding the Fever amongst their children as weapons. It was said that they were a risk to the nation. It was said that they opposed the will of Ilphian.

Ilphian? This stood out in Tobias’ mind. When had they shifted from Mallien to Ilphian?
Tobias held his tongue, and carried out his orders. By nightfall, the entire village had been burned. Tobias had not found one among the villagers who showed the signs of the fever... Not one! But Ilphian had his offering. Ilphian had his sacrifice.

...

He has been part of the resistance for the last two months, hiding out in the woods with Jauris, trying to find redemption where he can.

Tall and solidly built, Tobias stands over six feet tall and weighs about two-hundred-ten pounds. His tanned face is framed by a chestnut brown, curly and unkempt hair and beard. His demeanour matches his blue eyes, steeled and icy.

Still armed and armored in the tradition of the Temple Knights, Tobias weilds his longsword and steel shield with ease. His breastplate armor is in good condition, saved for the defaced image of Mallien on it's chest.

Ambition: Redemption. Tobias somehow hopes to find redemption and peace for his soul in his service to the resistance movement.

Obsession: Guilt / shame. Tobias’ conscience is chained to his past and a deep shame which haunts him. Each wagon load of new refugees reminds him of his former self and, at night, his dreams replay his horrible past.

Phobia: The afterlife and his “dark secret” revealed. Tobias is afraid that nothing may be able to absolve him of the sins of his past and that his shall spend the afterlife tormented for the blood on his hands. He is also afraid of what people will do if they find out about all the atrocities he committed as Ilphian’s hound.

Trigger: Cardinal Ilphian’s Seekers. Tobias has nothing but disgust and derision for the disgraced clergy of Mallien. The sight of the temple knights causes bile to rise in his throat; the sight of said knights persecuting the populace causes Tobias to draw steel or nock his bow.

Racial Features: Bonus skills points [+4 @ 1st level; +1/lvl after 1st]; Bonus feat

Class Features: Weapon Proficiency [Simple, Martial], Armour Proficiency [All Armour, All Shields], Two Bonus Fighter Feats

Kaelyn's intro

Does Kaelyn's character come in the midst of the conversation with the kids regarding his sister? Or Kaelyn's character arrive earlier?

BTW... welcome back, Kaelyn!

As life is far from linear...

Might as well have him enter while the commotion is already going on.

Impressive

Well hot damn. I updated yesterday...and three responses already! And great quality, too. If we keep up at this rate... I think we're going to have quite the chronicle running for us.

Just so it's known.

Grimm's 'threat' was merely at the absolute disdain and hatred for the Templars... to be called one is greatly insulting and he's willing to settle any such disputes the only way he really knows how... angry brute force.. He wasn't threatening anyone nearby... you mentioned Hving him go with you, he gathered his gear and looked towards the leader....

He's not being aggressive towards Korviss or anyone around merely at the thought of anything to do with Templars... he's a walking Poetic Irony if you will.

Picture a Viking man raised by the gypsies, and you get... well Grimm.. a crossbreed of cultures and traditions.. his hearts typically in the right place, but his tact and deliverance come and go with his emotions (and his relatively low social skills / scores lol)
perhaps a quick post will help... be up momentarily...

OOC

I understand the thoughts of the character, but from the perspective of a halfling, who is among people who have been bullied much of their lives by Templars, who sees a man dressed in Templar garb (despite his own observations) seemingly challenge the group as a whole in a raised voice and then plunge a sword into the ground less than a foot away from him...

It is easy (at least for me) to interpret that as an attempt to intimidate both him and everyone watching. Thus the reaction.

Haha!

And so the party in fighting begins! And we have hardly even reached page two!

A couple of comments:

1) I would be really sad if this game got derailed this early on by PC infighting and poor feeling between players that their characters were getting bullied. Honestly, I deal with enough politics and office-bullying in my real life. I'm not interested in it here.

2) Can you guys leave some space/time for the rest of us to jump in with a post? For instance, I would imagine, because Korviss is already an established member of the camp, others (maybe even Tobias) would have jumped in and told the newcomer to shut his mouth or Jarius himself would have told the two characters to can it.

3) If I were roleplaying Jarius, I'd pass over both your characters for this upcoming mission. Really, though, I would.

Just saying...

Ayrn

okay...

I wasn't intending to hold a grudge or anything. After all, I offered the idea to let him prove himself to begin with. Then he threw a sword at me! (okay so it wasn't thrown, and not really at me... but still )

But I do agree with your point to let others chime in. I guess I just got a bit ahead of myself. I have deleted my most recent post (since no one has responded to it yet) and will chime in again later. Perhaps after someone has had a chance to calm both of us down a bit.

Though I don't understand why the halfling would be passed over... given that he is standing for the interests of the existing camp members as a whole...

Regardless... what's done is done and we'll go from here I guess.
