Let the questions begin

How do you want to handle the light thing? Gelion needs light - I would think a lantern with some oil. When should he get it? Would the mine provide it? I left the post vague so that he could either get it before leaving town or at the mine. The mine seems the logical choice, but he will follow the Varg's advice.

Can the other two see in the dark?

Also, do we need to worry about how the rail cars work or will you speed past that section? For writing purposes you could add a question about the railcars if needed. I didn't because the post was long enough already.

RE: Nomad: questions for your questions...

On your heirloom bow, are you going with the original story that Gelion's bow was his father's bow? OR Is it something he picked up after setting out on his own?

Has Gelion done any "work" in caves in the past?

And no, neither of your funny-bunny companions have darkvision, just low-light. Only Nam can see in the dark at this point.

Sorry, this crazy site has gotten so busy I totally missed that there were posts here. I've checked the game thread, but not this one. My bad.

Uhm, I'd go with the original story of the bow coming from his father, unless there was some reason you wanted it otherwise. I could live with a change if there was a reason for it.

As for caves - I can easily see how he might have done some work in caves before. He has been out in the world sort of adventuring for awhile. However, it isn't like he grew up in them or anything. The basic story line of a woodland village remains. So perhaps some experience, but somewhat limited.

light

The problem with many traditional light sources is that they use a hand, a torch, sunrod, lantern, etc... As an Archer you need both hands for wielding your bow...

Bows

well, yeah, that bow thing is a bit of a problem. Can the others carry the light? With only low-light vision they can't see in the mine either, right? Or are they better off further from the light source?

Suggestions from the bunny types? (Ok, that joke might get old, but right now it amuses me.)

Uh oh.

This bunny type is only able to wield his human sized gun through judicious use of racial feats. Doing it one handed is not gonna happen.

Lini could carry one, sure, but will have to drop it to fight.

Lighting

Sukini needs both her hands for the spiked chain as well, also light and stealth don't really mix... She can carry it for a bit if someone else doesn't mind taking it if she has to sneak ahead to scout out a room or something.

Sunrods

Sunrods don't break, do they?

I would think a couple of us could carry one of those, even Gelion, as we move. If something happened, they could potentially be dropped. As long as they aren't breakable, they would land at our feet and continue to provide illumination. No an elegant solution to be sure, but perhaps the best?

updates

I have posted an update, as well as updated the "Adventure Journal" post here in the QA as well as listed current and total hp for each of you in the "Character Info" post. I assume I do not need to include a reference image for Dwarves in the Races post, so I have not. I'll list the mining helmets under party loot as well.

Handling Lighting

Hey there, if you don't mind a friendly suggestion from a lurker...

Sunrods are 1lb iron rods which glow when their tips are struck. By no means are you required to handle them after striking the tip, and they aren't known to generate heat. As such, after striking the tip, you could strap a sunrod to a belt (which should not be a stretch considering maces and axes are commonly carried in belt loops) for illumination in the directions not blocked by the weilder's own form.

Please note that once the rods are struck they glow for 6 hours (without a means to turn them off), after which they become plain iron rods. Presumably you could use something like a belt pouch to hide the light source, by placing it over the glowing portion of the rod, if the need arised.

Since an ever-burning torch is also only 1lb you could likely do the same thing, without having to worry about replacing the sunrods.

All you will need to worry about is the directions which are and are not lit up by carrying the light source in this manner.

Hopefully this helps with your predicament.

Happy gaming all,

-T_O
