Slowly We turned.......
Well being the first encounter in a new set things may go a bit slowly until we get used to things.

The other question
What about the following questions?rnrn One more question - I'm not quite sure how far down we have gone so far. Is this right below the "entrance?" Are they located in such a way that we could dump something big on top of them from above? VW Beetles do crush, after all. If it explodes, you should have described it as a pinto. rnrnI'm just not quite sure of the special relationship.

Info he would share
Rhyson did know a little.
Range of Beetle bugs - about 20'. or was it yards? Crap. Gotta check.
Rhys' lighting spells should be fairly effective. But that still doesn't mean I know how many it takes to fry a fire bug, just that they probably are affected by it.
If we want to stay at a distance if possible, Rhys has his spells. What can the rest do? I like the idea of dropping stuff on them if possible. Big stuff.

Chop...chop......
Well Lum would have to get in close to do damage. Chop and run. Stay away from the fangs but chop it hard.
Lum couldn't remember anything additional just that they are hard to kill.
Making a cave in on them might cover the door too. Did the other make any rolls for for more information?
Our Rogue could try to sneak up behind one, hope it doesn't fart fire.
So who is going to be the brains of this group?

Questions
I'm kind of new to this rules gaming, but should we be sharing Character Knowledge outside of in game posts? I mean WE don't know theses things until our character reveals them. Does this makes sense?
Maybe I'm wrong but I think our characters should revealing this info in game.
My 2 cents anyway.

We Don't Know what We Don't Know.......
As players we can share information but our characters can't act on it unless it is shared in game between characters. To discuss and plan is one thing but doing stuff must be in game.
Say one character is going to cast a fireball. They had better let the party know so they can prepare or take cover. The party could get caught it the fire. The players might discuss it ahead of time to see if it is a good idea and remind the caster player to have the caster character inform the party.
In our game our characters know more about each other than the players do right now. They have been together for a year so abilities and spells are known and could be suggested. As players we don't have each others character sheets so we don't know what each of us can do.
So our Spirit girl casting something from her big stick is new the players but Lum has likely seen her do something with before.
So in game Lum might only say,"Hmm..them tough to kill."
Talking is a free action.

Talk
You can converse about things you know and make plans n this forum. Consider this to be talking around the table. Just make sure that what you share here is shared in the game.
You have come down about fifty yards (measure are all yards in this game). Looking around there is no outcrops or hanging debris to use as a weapon. Lum thinks this was a manufactured cave that was covered up by a fallen building and it settled over time. The stairs you are on are on one side of a thirty yard diameter circle while the stairs with the doors is on the opposite side.

Oh and
Rhyson is the brains I think. At least he did ask for leadership skills.

Ok
Ok I see the point in discussing it here but also agree that our characters need to relate this knowledge in game in order for us to use it.
Ok here is what my character was told:
The spirits tell you that these are not left-over from the war - they are newer. Like a few years old. Part of the reason you don't see firebugs often is they are dying out and they were not breed to mate or procreate.
Not sure it is useful in combat but probably will be if we survive it.

Tann - you doubt the throwing stars have the penetrating power to harm the firebugs, unless you get very lucky.
Boo - not all knowledge related to combat. In my games, as the others can attest to, knowledge here may pertain to something later on or even upcoming adventures.

Beetle Bugs
Rhyson knows some history of the bugs, but basically for this it comes down to 1. they can shoot 20 yards and 2. traditionally elves fought them with lightning.
Conveniently, he is a lightning mage. He can hit either one or both with a lightning spell. But to hit both he does have to be only 20 yards away. And the other issue is that I really have no idea how much damage they can take. 2d6+willpower is the damage for the spell. We have quite a bit more HP than that. These things are the size of a pinto. I doubt they are 5 HP critters, although I'd be ok if they were.
So, Rhyson bolting the things seems obvious. Any ideas for the rest of you? Since we can't drop rocks on their heads, is there any way to poor water on them? (There is such a thing as a water mage, but Rhys isn't one of them.) Water might affect their fire or have an impact on the lightning. But from the little we know of these things I don't think we want to get into a fist fight with them. Only one of us being able to do much seems like a bad idea.

Good Stuff...........
I will get a post up about us on the stairs and what we see.
I have Lum tell what he knows of the Bugs. Then the rest can pass along the information in game before we reach the bottom and have to face the bugs. We call state what we CAN do and then we can do another round of posts as to what we will do.

Postie
Yes I too am working on a post. I should have it up soon. I will be stating what my character knows and if she has any suggestions to add for the combat. Don't expect much from her though.
