Round 5

Logan makes first contact dealing damage to the orc in front of him, in the hipsin and continues his first swing into the Orc on his left in the orcs left arm. Finally he uses his off hand to strike the left hand Orc again in the right side ribs.

Vatta’s arrows leap from her singing bow striking the Orc leader in the left leg, the shoulder and in the side of his waist. This Orc (3) must be build like a bull because he is not even slowed down.

Lorae’s green wooden blade cuts the Orc is front of her deeply across the shoulder and chest and the second hit takes him in the left thigh cause him to fall.

Brianna's swords work like spinning blades, she concentrates on one target hoping to drop him and then go for another, but the Orc is tough and it take 3 punishing blows to drop him. In turn Brianna take 7 points from the Orc Adept.

Off to the left of the field an Orc flies into the air and falls to the ground dead. His companion then falls to the ground screaming. Then the screaming stops.

Shadowbane and Moon Dancer each trample two more Goblin’s.

Highnar’s twin axes chop away dropping two Orcs.

Xuor’s spell goes off and a Black bear appear striking Orc dead in one blow of its massive paws and then a Goblin is ripped apart with his second claw attack, and finally he bites another goblin.

Cerric’s Magic Missles strike a Goblin (24) and it falls limply to the ground.

And so it continues with the party still standing and fighting against a number of foes.

In the Midst of Battle

Still surround with enemies B rianna could not tell how it was going with her other companions. She didn't have time to think about it though as the Orcs and goblins pressed forwrad. Some of them trying to flamk Highnar and her. She twirl her blades trying to force those flankers back, using Thunder in her left hand while protecting Highnar's left flank and herself with Lightning. When she could she would intpose her buckler to deflect a blow aimed her directions.

Two whirling Magic Missles hit her but she felt nothing from them. The Orcs and goblins had a magic user with them. That was one thing their own group lacked.

Another volley....

Vatta curses again, “why wont they just die already!” she says softly. Seeing that the group seems to be holding their own so far, she decides not to change her tactic or target.

Once again she draws her arrows and goes after the big orc, firing off three quick shots with her bow. She is determined to bring down that large orc, sure that if one of their leaders fall it will hurt morale and maybe cause some of them to break and run. She hopes.

Another round!!

Highnar was in his element killing goblins and Orcs was almost as if a form of release a type of therapy for lack of a better thought. With Brianna behind him he knew he was safe from any rear attacks and with her following he moved forward to finish off the two Goblins to his left. ( G37/G38 )

After they were dead his plan was for Brianna and he to fall back and try to help Logan and Lorae and take on the enemy around them then all 4 together could surge forward perhaps and finally finish this battle successfully.

Brianna

Brianna kept an eye on Highnars movements knowing it was easier for her to match his movements that for him to match hers. With her long stride and quick reflexes she could cover a lot of grond. But ther was no good reson to split up and very good reason for them to keep together. Their strategy was working; they were avoiding a lot of hits. Oh, some got in but that was to be expected, with them so out numbered, even though she was well armored with physical and magic armor.

It was not luck; it was good fighting strategy and tactics. So when Highnar move toward Logan and Lorae Brinns moved with him keeping cover on the stalwart dwarf as he battle his way forward. She saw the arrows continuing to fall on the enemies though right now the big Orc, perhaps the leader was getting pincushioned.

Lets Open a Hole!

With his spell now complete and a Black Bear now on the field killing Orcs and Goblins at will Xour goes back to his more familiar style of fighting, that is with his bow. Doing his usual scan of the field looking for where his rain of death would best be needed he looks for a way to open a path between the two ground troops of Brianna&Highnar to Lorae&Logan.

Once again calling on his feats as a bowman Xour will use this full round to exucute his feat of Rapid Shot ( which gives him one extra shot per round at highest base attack bonus but each attack made this round takes a -2 penalty. You must take your full attack action; pg99 players handbook 3.5ed. Thanxs Dragonmist)
Seeing that Highnar & Brianna seem to be the most surrounded he will direct his next volly at the Orc O:20(Q,1 that seems to be directly behind Highnar and the next shot at the Goblin G:15 (P,17) trying to open a hole in the Orcs defenses so Hig & Bri can move towards Lo & Lr.

With Beauty in his hands again he once more goes through his pre shooting routine. Even though this seems like it would take many minuits it in reality only takes micro seconds for him to go through this routine. He calls this his visualization routine. With bow in hand he reaches back and pulls one arrow from his quiver notchs it sights his target (O:20-Q,1 down the shaft of the arrow making any adjustments for distance and wind if any. Then just before the release he visualizes the flight of the arrow till it's impact with his target it is at this impact that he acctualy releases his arrow. Then the Elven Ranger picks his next target (G:15-P,17) and goes through this routine again. After the first two arrows are shot he will use the third or bonus shot at the Orc he shot at first if the creature is still standing. If this Orc is down then the last shot goes at the Goblin he just shot at if it is still standing .If by some stroke of luck both targets are down he will target the Goblin at the cornor of the two G:21 (P,1 So once again with Beauty poised and ready and pulls his next arrow notchs it sights the target visulizes the arrows flight and at impact in his minds eye releases the real thing. With all his arrows for the round fired he quickly scans the field locating the black bear and trying ti see what damage if any it was causing.

Continuing the battle

With an Orc n front of him(O and to his left(O12), he positions himself so that he can see them both at the same time. While attacking the orc he first encountered, he has positioned himself to attack O8 and dodge/parry any attacks from O12. Using his right hand, he attacks O8 with a slashing motion. With his left hand he thrusts his sword into the chest of O12. His third attack will be another slashing attack on O8.

Culminatiuon of Round 6

Logan cuts into the two Orcs in front and to the left of him, Orc 12 is moderately wounded in the thigh, and Orc 8 having taken 2 of his 3 hits is seriously wounded with hits to the abdomen and the left shoulder.

Two of Vatta’s three arrows find their target in nonvital places, a leg and an arm and still the Big Orc continues to rally his dwindling forces seemingly unscathed.

Lorae’s green wood blade cuts into Orc 9 and return swiftly for another cut in the same Orc before her third strike connects with Orc 10 and slashes deeply into his sword arm. While this happens Orc 9 had fallen to the ground limp and still.

Goblin 1 tries to grapple Brianna and is forced back by the whirling of her swords.

Brianna’s crackling blade ‘Lightning’ strikes Orc 6 instantly killing him, she then strike with ‘Thunder’ and Orc 7 who had moved up, had his head cut from his shoulder (Crit). With her 3rd strike she comes back with ‘Lightning’ and cleaves the Golbin1 in half, his upper torso falls one way and his lower the other. (Another Crit)

Shadowbane spins left and gallops down on Orc 33 one of the Orc Adepts, trampling him, never to rise and doing serious damage to Orc 16, before biting Orc 3 doing crippling damage to his right shoulder. (Crit)

Moon Dancer: Tramples Orc 29 the highest of the Orc Adepts and then goes on to trample Orc 19 doing him moderate damage.

Xuor see his black bear D9 on the field joined by a second black bear O16. Xuor trains his long bow on the Orcs about Logan and Lorae, as Highnar and Brianna have dropped all but one last Orc. Xuor's shot finds a vital mark and he drops Orc 8. He then targets Orc 12 and adds a light wound to what Logan had already done to him, the Orc is still there, barely. It looks like he is one hit from dropping.

Xuor’s black bear downs two goblins 40 & 41 with one massive swing of each clawed paw.

Highnar’s first attack hits Orc 4 and his second strike downs the Orc.

The newest black bear attacks Goblins 10 & 15 killing both of them

Unseen by all, the High Adept Orc 29 is crushed to death along with Orc 23 and Orc 28

Cerric Khalidran is aghast by the horror of the carnage.

Orc 3 Leader swings his orc double ax on Shadowbane and does the big black moderate damage as he charges in, but misses his second hit entirely as his right arm goes limp

While the gods and goddesses seem to be favoring the valiant warriors, the opposite is true for the enemy. Except for the Orc leader all have missed their shots, throws, or strikes. Also sosme of grass and vine entangled lumps have ceeased struggling.

The Reality of War

Cerric collapsed to the earth, clenching dirt in his hands, grasping for something real. He needed something to hold on to, his world seemed so surreal. He had shed blood from others before, this was nothing new. The difference was the toll of death. He had killed before... well, in a sense. He had wounded others so grievously that they would die, only to stabilize them with his priestly knowledge afterwards. It had left him with a lot of enemies... When he was younger, he had left the abbey in search of wisdom, but now, he never stayed in the same place long, for he feared the shadows that gathered in the alleyways at dusk.

A wise old sage had once told him "Blood spilled does not have a maker. It belongs to the earth, and until it has it thirst quenched, the blood must flow down upon it. It does not see right or wrong, friend or foe..." He smiled an old toothless grin then, refocusing his eyes upon Cerric's before saying "The most important thing in war Cerric, is that you make sure the earth does not get a fondness for the taste of your blood... or it will not be yours for long."

Standing again with a strength he could not presume to own, he tightened his fist against a smooth stone, and it gave him the will of the earth. No matter how hard he squeezed, the shape of the stone did not relent. There was much that Cerric could learn from this rock. His eyes sharpened upon two of the few goblins that remained standing. He watched them standing in defiance of the fate granted to all the old and vile of the day. This battlefield would be a graveyard for their descendents to visit. Flashes of light exhumed from his fingertips, as magical points of light flew unerringly towards his foe.

(Cerric casts 1 magic missile at Goblin 24 and 2 at goblin 33)

DIE ORC DIE!!!

Vatta let loose softly with a few choice curses in several languages, “That guy has the stamina of a grizzly.” She glanced around and saw Xuor still firing his bow and smiled.

“HEY XUOR!” she yelled to him and if he looked over at her, she would point at the Large Orc apparently leading the enemy, “TAKE OUT THE BIG ONE… THE LEADER!”

That done, she draws again and lets loose another volley of three arrows at the Leader. If they brought him down maybe they could get some of the remaining ones to flee. They had lost a lot of orc and goblins so far, and if their leader fell then maybe they would lose heart and run. It was worth a shot.

She was no fighter, otherwise she would be leaping down there and try to fight her way to the leader, but she was small and the Orc Leader would crush her if she stood before him. No her way was to attack at distance, or from surprise, and since surprise was out of the question in this situation she worked with what she had at hand.

Brianna the Battle Maiden

Brianna's swords flashed and swirled, dealing death to those who came at her. Mainly her focused was on her attackers and though she risked a look around at her companions. While most of her hits resulted in incapacitating her attackers, none-the-less she was aware of the great number of then still active and fights.

When Vatta called out to Xuor Brianna heard her call. To herself she agreed, “Good idea Vatta.” So far they had done well against their foes. Brianna herself had been minimally injured. The others seemed to still be in the thick of fighting. It appeared that so far their tactics and strategy had been sound. . "Not bad" she mutters to herself again. Each member of they party had stayed true to their own style of fighting and that had kept them all relative whole and effective. Brianna stayed true to her fighting style—the in-your-face, toe-to=toe style.

Brianna knew that her strokes were not coming so fast and hard as they had in the beginning. She had begun to pace herself so that she would be able to last this battle out. After all they still had to help the town that was threatened by the whole Orc and Goblin army still.

Lorae

Lorae first attacks Orc 11 who has Logan flanked. She will concentrate on him until he falls, before turning her attacks on others around her. Her greenwood blade is glowing brightly causing the orcs and goblins around her to squint and that reduced their chances to hit, not that any had done so far.

She keeps an eye on the field and sees Shadowbane and Moon Dancer trampling their share of the enemy. Far off in the area of the entangles, she has noticed that many of the vegetation covered bumps are not moving, especially the smaller ones-the goblins.

Battle Talk

As he always does Xour is paying close attention to the action that is going on around him, targeting those he thinks are the most dangerous to the other party members. Then he hers Vatta yelling at him “HEY XUOR!” TAKE OUT THE BIG ONE… THE LEADER!”
Quickly looking around to pinpoint the Orc she was speaking of he is not hard to see not only is he the biggest Orc on the field, but he has about half dozen arrows already sticking out of him.Watching as Vatta once again targets the large Orc.If she takes him down he will go back to what he was doing if not he will then target this one also. With Beauty in his hands he will target the Orc leader and using his visualization release his next volly at this one Orc.
