Well the costs associated with raise dead and resurrection are only partly to do with finding a 9th or 13th level cleric who can cast the spell. Buying a scroll isn't ideal since none of us (even those with use magic device) could cast it with any degree of certainty.
The real cost are the material costs of a 5000 gp worth of diamonds for raise dead and 10,000 gp worth of diamonds for resurrection. When you add that to the cost of paying a cleric to cast the spell (or convincing her to do so!), it's way beyond our means currently.
I do agree, though, that as we become more powerful setting money aside for it is a good idea.

Solvy
I hadn't thought to mention that I do all the rolling. I've got the combat stats of all players on one handy dandy board I keep near my oomputer for quick reference, and as you noticed no other player has any rolls within their posts.
Anywho, I'm watchng Rambo now, then sleep, then posts when I awaken.

Okay, then. No problem.
Will amend post to reflect that. Thank you.

SC anyone
I don't know if anyone else has the spell compendium or not, but the spell Revivify is amazing. It's a bit too late for Kas and Loriel, but if we got a few scrolls of that spell it'd help out with any future deaths.
It's cheap resurrection with no XP or Con loss... the trick is that it's only good the round immediately following corpsification. If the person with the scroll is more than a single move action away when you kick the bucket, you're outta luck.

Yes I just looked it up in SC.
It's a useful spell but it's still a DC 29 Use Magic Device check. Or if Aelistae tried to use it, it'd be a DC 10 caster level check.
It'll also cost 2150 gp for one scroll (I think).
I still think we should wait and become more experienced before considering it. What do others think?

Solvy just read your last post. I know Arcsheva has the mobility feat but I think she may suffer some attacks of opportunity.

Yeah, and it's a shame ...
but with her current spell list (purposely leaving out the defensive spells for what was supposed to be a friendly visit) she is limited to her offensive spells as prepared. She is usually capable of standing back and delivering ranged touch spells, but she has lost too many hp for that now. Before she collapses, she intends to make an accounting for herself.
... and I'm counting on the Dodge/Mobility feat(s) to help me, since I can select at least one attack to dodge ...
To a certain extent, I purposely put her at a disadvantage for the challenge of starting with a mage that was only semi-prepared. And there is a method to my (seeming) madness ... but I can't give away all my secrets yet ...
and I think I may have given one away ...

I guess your gecko isn't one to slip to the floor, crawl over onto the mages shoe and ten tanser the shocking grasp lol.
I could ee it after the spell goes off and the mage howls in pain, the gecko looks up and stands on to two legs.

I guess ...
... the "--- well, unusual for her, anyway." reference was too subtle, because it is not how she usually does things. Sometimes people do knee-jerk actions based on impulse and, in retrospect, cuss at themselves later. Maybe if I explain that she is wrapped up in the moment, still working surprised herself and the character isn't thinking about the familiar (contact or not), having sent him to safety.
Kaelyn, maybe I should have mentioned in her character that she had just recently lost a familiar (tiny viper) to a sorcerer's hawk fmiliar ...
This character has melee experience, yes, and intelligence, yes, but what has made her interesting to play in the TT games she has been in is that "oops! I could have done better ..." conversations with herself (and others) after-the-fact. And she has dealt more than onde with the feeling of surprise from the familiar at not letting him "in on the fun". She doesn't do this every time she is in melee, but I like the reactions I get when I sometimes don't do the "standard fare", run-of-the-mill, What-everyone-else-does actions every time.
Orrrrr maybe I could have waited to do that until they got to know her better (?)

Jozan, DA, Deuc
Just need to know what potion you gave Artanis, and I'll deduct it and add the hp to her.
Aside from that, if Deucalion wants a final post that's great, but my next update for you will be the morning.
I'm also going to hopefully wrap up the other parties' scenario soon.

What do you mean, final post? I haven't even finished coming up with this guy's life to-date... I don't want to start on his afterlife yet.

lol
just meant a final interaction post before morning or what not that was fine.
As far as I'm conerned, everyone has returned safely, gotten some drink and food even though the Gryphon is now way past norma closing hours, the fire kept Bugsy and his staff occupied enough that you all managed to slip back in though techincally all rooms have been booked for the evening.
Knowing you tried to help with the fire, Bugsy will allow you to stay in Tessas quarter's free of charge, he simply wants to go to bed. Meal wil be some leftover strew from dinner (only barely luke warm and some bread and water.)Seeing as Tessa seems to have run off for the evening, a serving quarters with 3 beds in the room all of which are currently empty, is yours for the night.
