Illiaera - Day 2 - Crossroads

Ita looks at the whole group, and passes her crystal to Sable too, saying "If you want, I can keep hold of the crystals in my pack until we use them."
Charlet likewise passes the crystal along.

"Then by all means, carry them. Whether to use them or not is an irreversible decision. Once you activate whatever latent power lies within them, they can never be used again, so we should carefully weigh the outcomes before acting." He accepts the Crystal from Charlet and turns back to Ita, a child who has already grown taller than himself. He offers all five crystals, cupped in both of his tiny but deadly hands.

Ita takes the small crystals, and carefully puts them in an inside pocket in her backpack.

Ita relays the conversation prior to Viis...

((This is as far as the log goes, feel free to post now))

"To where do we go now? To what challenge to we meet?" Sable asks pensively of no person. He turns to Ita talking to Viis, adding "On whom dare we rely?"

The halfling waits, sitting cross legged in the grass, pondering the thoughts of a pint-sized monk from the unique monastery his family is of. We should go to the city. How much time is left in today before we split souls to the demon girl and her friends? Oh how Guinevere must be laughing to learn that the halfling she had been bonded to from birth was having just as much, if not more difficulty as she did. This gang would have to be organized and given direction, something that the unstructured mind of the demon-spawn would never grasp.

Sable brought himself to his full height once again, hardly an impressive sight. He had full intention of providing a way out of the chaos for these disorganized people. Intention and action are not always one in the same story, however. Sable found himself unable to find the exact words necessary to pull together the group.

"Where do we go? We go on an adventure of course!" Ignis exclaims, "we shall hike across mountains, traverse through jungles, cross giant lakes and fight giant squids, it sounds exciting doesn't it?"

She smiled with glee at the thought of a chance to finally get out of the city. She didn't want to think too much about her new enemies, but was ready to combat them whenever they encountered the shadowy creatures again.

"Say Ita, where should we be traveling to next? Or is that something we need to go research?" she asked.

Still a Crossroads... Maybe Not - Round 1 of Combat

Ita is about to answer Ignis, when suddenly Feni growls, and Ita's ears twitch.

"There's another one!" Ita shouts, jumping to her feet.

Dashing through the trees, another Linsemptus Scout runs forward, to punch Sable in the back, however Sable quickly avoids the blow by blocking it with his own, better technique.

Feni is the first to react, moving to the side to allow Ita a clearer shot. The Linsemptus Scout brings back its arm, forming another serrated blade. Wildly, it swings it down, just barely missing Sable as he avoids the blow.

((New combat... everyone except Ita and Feni are currently sitting... anyway, do your best!))

Halfling Lighting

Sable became aware of the assault upon his back only half a second before it struck. Nonetheless, his training and self-perfection gave him enough time to escape unscathed. Though as for that, the Linsemptus was not to let him get away so easily. Before Sable even had a chance to collect his wits into a cognitive (and likely painful) response to this affront, a serrated blade swung at him. He counted himself lucky that this second shot, made in haste, was poorly aimed.

The halfling proped himself up on his hands and twisted himself around while his feet kicked off the ground. The Linsemptus was only just a bit taller than Sable, but he threw his fist up to the ghost-beast's head.

Tis a shame I forgot to buy weapons.

Quickly darting to his feet, Viis draws his harp off of his back and starts playing a quick tune that lifts the spirits of his allies.

"Not them again" Viis silently mutters, "It truly is a shame that I've been brought into the middle of all this fighting."

reaction time

Charlet, in reaction to seeing Sable almost get hit, stands up and twists and moves her hands in a particluar fashion, then utters "I call upon a bolt of the Sun's essence incinerate my enemies, scorching ray!" rasing a hand to have her palm facing the Linsemptus.

Crossroads - Round 2 of Combat

The party quickly gathers their wits at this new enemy's presence. Its form flickers as it realizes it is badly outnumbered, but still it remains, threatening and forboding.

Viis stands and plays, the power of his song providing a theme to the battle. His playing, however, fills everyone's hearts with adrenaline, spurring their bodies to provide even more for this battle.

Charlet stands and takes aim at the Linsemptus, drawing forth the power of fire in order to strike. Her aim is true, as the ray flies through the Linsemptus, but all it does is fly straight through it.

Ignis, not to be left out, unleashes a shot of three shimmering bolts of magic that veer towards the Linsemptus Scout. One barely strikes it, just glancing off of its arm, while the other two strike almost dead in the center of its torso, causing it to recoil with the force of the assault.

Sable stands swiftly and strikes at the bizarre foe, lunging forth with a fist that was unfortunately not raised with as well a form as he would have preferred. The Linsemptus Scout ducks underneath the attempted blow.

Ita draws back her bow and takes yet another shot. This one veers wide of its target, landing with a thud in the tree just to the side of the Linsemptus Scout.

Recovering from the Magic Missile attack, from below Sable's strike the Linsemptus Scout smacks Sable with a fierce uppercut, striking the halfling under the chin and somewhat knocking his head back. (-4 hp Sable)

YAY MAGE ARMOUR!

Being rather off set with the scorching ray going through it and only going through, Charlet dashes to Sable, stoping behind him and waves her hands misticly while resiting "With this mystic armour, may you be unharmed, Mage Armour," then Charlet then tuches Sables back, at the moment of contact Charlet's cured leather braclet glowes.

Around Sable flashes an invisible shield in the shape of his body, then vanishes it as quickly as it came.

Sable with the dark black hair~

The tiny monk never took his eyes off the Linsemptus aberration, though he jerked his head to acknowledge the mage. His body was now surrounded in an invisible field of energy that may protect him from the beast as traditional armors of metal saved others. The same effect extended from his magical bracers, though the one cast by Charlet was more powerful, blanketing over the power of his bracers.

Sable launched into a flurry of blows. This made him less accurate with his attacks, but in this case accuracy counted for very little, as this enemy could not by touched by the physical hand. Only though his Ki, Sable could bring his fist into contact with the abomination. Though in the heat of battle, not every focus of Ki was perfect, so he just as often slipped through as not, meaning that with more attacks in a shorter time, he was more likely to land even a poorly aimed blow than a single precise shot.

I would appreciate a bit more shown interest in this game... - Round 3 of combat

Viis maintains his song, its notes continuing to provide extra strength to his companions.

Charlet acts by providing Sable with an even greater defense against this intangible enemy, forming an armour about Sable that would be able to deflect even the Scout's attacks.

A few magical darts fly over Sable and Charlet's heads, glancing against the Scout's limbs without any appearing to cause major damage on their own. Ignis mutters a curse at the missiles' lack of strength.

Sable focuses, and lets fly with one punch, followed by another immediately after. The Linsemptus Scout avoids the first one, but at the cost of twisting into the path of the second. Sable's palm strikes true, ramming the Linsemputs Scout hard in the torso. (max damage)

Ita, trying her best to help, looses another arrow at the Linsemptus Scout, which merely flies past harmlessly.

The Linsemptus Scout counterattacks Sable, bashing his own torso with an intangible, skeleton-like fist. (-4 hp Sable)

YAY, crossbow!

After casting mage armor on Sable, Charlet skuttles away while taking hold of her light crossbow, making shure that she has a clear shot at the Linsemptus, after this preporation Charlet takes out a bolt and lodes it in to her crossbow.

Crossroads - Round 4 of Combat

Viis continues his song, a joyous and heartlifting tone to the melancholic and serious combat taking place.

The Linsemptus Scout proves to be far more of an annoyance to the party than a threat, however, clearly this foe is not to be taken lightly, as the group can recall the events that occurred in their dreams, where a member of the group fell to this very type of foe.

Charlet takes a step back, and proceeds to fire a bolt at the Scout from her crossbow. Her aim is true, striking the Linsemptus through the head, but indeed the bolt sails straight through its head harmlessly; without magic within the ammunition, there is no chance of it hitting the Scout.

Ignis now acts, unleashing another volley of energy spikes. She feels a slight strain; she knows she won't be able to keep this up forever. (-9 Linsemptus Scout)

Sable jabs at the Linsemptus, and his palm indeed hits the slightly intangible form, causing it to dissipate slightly as it is struck. (-4 LS) However, Sable's second strike is launched too shallow, for the Linsemptus evades the blow.

Ita fires another shot, however, her aim is severely misplaced, as the arrow thuds in a tree far off to the side, and she grits her teeth at this result.

The Linsemptus seems to flicker as it brings forth its appendage, however, instead of a mere punch, it once again forms the skeletal-like blade with it. Unanticipated, Sable reacts by dodging to the side, however, the grass beneath his feet causes him to slip in the other direction, right back into the Linsemptus Scout's slash. Across Sable's torso a line of white remains from the Linsemptus Scout's attack. The cut is at first painful, but then ignites with even intense agony as something overloads Sable's senses. Sable can hardly bring his body to move even an inch, and there is only immense pain from doing so. His body feels heavy, and fractured, as though it were actually broken rather than merely paralyzed. (-4 hp Sable, and you failed your fort save )

Sable strained his body into moving, but it refused his command. No matter how much he tried to will it to move, his limbs were deadened and stiff. Before his eyes flashed an image of what would happen next if the creature was given the chance. He could see the paladin's body falling through his throughts as he cursed ever inch of his frozen body. If- When he mastered his body out of this state, he would ensure that this thing would be ended.
