Perhaps
Since for some unknown reason the game is crashing hard, would you all prefer to go to one update a week or cancel the game altogether?
At this point I am beginning to get frustrated.

Suggestions
I would hate to see this game crash. Perhaps you can give those who have not posted in awhile notice that they will be replaced.
Advertise for new players. Go to once a week until things pick up.

Game
As noted, I am here and would like the game to continue. I like Heironymus and I think things look interesting. I can be patient to get it running again. (But it is frustrating.) If somehow I miss it starting up again please alert me. I will be checking frequently to see if things are moving.
I'm ready to move out and hunt for dark elves!

Results
I've updated the recruitment line to ask for a few new players (2-3). I'm also only going to be updating the game on Saturdays until we really get going again. I haven't seen Ion on at all for quite some time so I'm wondering if he has some extenuating circumstances.
I'd like the game to continue, even if I only have you two for the moment. So please continue posting. As people show interest I will attempt to work them into the story as we go, though your characters may have to be a bit more... accepting of the new characters than I would otherwise expect in order to make it work.

Ok folks, lets agree on a plan and do it
Just discussing in the game page takes forever. Lets get things moving.
Going back has some appeal as the dwarf noted, but it seems unlikely to be the plan for an adventure like this. Follow the path - it has been laid out for us and even the DM is pushing us away from going back. If we aren't going back, and there is nothing more to gain from staying, there seems to be only one way left - onward.
I say let the games begin and move out. I think it is really just the Ion Kired and Virif we need to make are agreed.
If we do follow the path I would think we try to make the best time possible. As was suggested - going up at most every other tree. We have ground to make up.

What's the point of playing
Dungeons and Dragons on paper if you're just going to go the easiest way presented. What if the DM just seems to not want us to go back to make it more appealing to me? What if he's hiding a crucial game changing bit of information in town? Besides he made he entire world we're playing in why not use that to our enjoyment and wander off the MMO path? As far as moving onward I may be slow to force in one direction much as my favored dwarven mage characters (did you know technically dwarves can't be mages?) I do like to stay in an adventure and that usually means staying with the party.

The DM
Actually, dwarves were only restricted in 2E. After that they pretty much removed the class restrictions.
And you are right Ion, to an extent. As you all have seen not everything is necessarily as it appears. The party is free to follow whatever path they wish and explore whatever part of the world they want. After all, there IS a whole new world to explore. However, everything you do has consequences. If you pursue the brigands with the only real lead you currently have one set of consequences will ensue (positive or negative). If you chose not to and abandon the pursuit (or seem to be abandoning it) another set of consequences will ensue. Just bear that in mind.
And the OOC post in the game thread was not intended to railroad or anything. I just wanted to make clear what you could logically expect to by Allyn's reaction to calling off an immediate pursuit, regardless of logic or reason.
I'm really hoping you all will have this figured out by Saturday night so I can actually update the game. If not it will have to wait until Tuesday at the earliest, perhaps next Saturday depending on posting.

Kyara
Kyara promised she would try to being the girl back and shhe is already on the trail. She expects others to follow at least Hieronymus who said he would.

Ok, the trail it is
Heironymus will follow Kyara to the trail. He is very hopeful that the dwarf will follow. One way or another, lets see what happens.

Actions
If you want to do anything during your time spent following the trails just post it here. i.e. rememorizing spells (For those who need to select their spells please let me know what you have chosen), conversation or anything else.
Also, if we don't hear from our druid friend by the next game update (Saturday) I am officially going to NPC his character.
I've also opened up the game for more potential players since we seem to have the occassional trouble as far as posting reliability. For those who apply I will work them into the story as necessary and able.
Thanks

Spells?
Can a cleric regain his spells in this way as he moves? If so he would do so - the same ones he used up for healing.
*edit* Ok, having read the game post it seems obvious that he would regain the spells during the rest periods since it has been a day or so of travel. Same spells as before.
Group - it seems that we are confronted by a T in the road - we can go to the left or to the right. (Assuming they didn't climb down?) I see no reason to pick on over the other.
DM - does the view differ one way or the other? Is there a change from rock to softer materal in either direction? Is there any way they could have climbed down? Are we assuming that we have already searched the vicinity looking for tracks?
If no further info is forthcoming, do we just pick one? Say go right, because it is the "right way?" At this point I don't have any info on which to base a decision.

Answers Once Again
Someone in the party does have additional information. Beyond that, here is some other answers.
It is possible to climb down. It wouldn't be an easy climb and it would be about 200' down. The group did not notice them on the cliffside when you searched around. And yes, I did assume you would do a general search of the area. Tracks end on the stone area. Along the cliff face is pretty much the same stone-like ground. Further from the cliff the ground softens.

Choose a path
For those players who are still involved (Ion has apparently faded from existence) please choose a path. Without that official choice I can't update the game.
Thanks.
