Chaos Monk

The Chaos Monk info can be found in Dragon Magazine #335. I have a digital copy I can send if you would like to look over the details of it. As far as using the Chaos variant, I could go with the normal Monk and still use the Hobgoblin. He'd be Lawful Evil, as per the standard alignment of the hob. This should make for a more uniform character.

I'll PM you the background story that I was thinking of using for the chaos monk and will let you decide which way you will allow me to go.

email and pm

Ok, sent both the pm and the email. Let me know which one to go with and I can tailor the rest around that.

and it's in.

Ok, final sheet sent to Shield. I posted on the QA thread and really looking forward to Tuesday/Wednesday or whenever we end up starting. This should be a fun group to run with. I'm waiting to see what type of choas/trouble we end up in/causing.

Chaos Monk

I thought that the Chaos Monk variant wasn't allowed to be Lawful... though I admit it has been awhile since I read that particular article...

I remember thinking their fighting style would be rather amusing to watch.

Choas is Chaos

Yeah, the Chaos monk will be chaotic neutral. Did I miss something that suggested he was lawful?

I could be wrong, I am only human...

I think the confusion arose from your statement at the top of the page about how if you had to stick to the standard monk then your Hob would be LE. But as we agreed upon via PM, the Hob Chaos Monk is in fact CN (likely with evil tendencies since we all know old habits die hard).

most definitely

Ah yeah, sorry for that, just wanted to make it clear I was willing to go with either build. Glad we agreed on the Chaos monk and with Kor being CN. And most definitely will show some evil tendencies. Everyone knows hobgoblins have skeletons in the closet, where else are we to store them lol.

bar

There isn't actually a bar in the Citadel itself, I imagine that drunkard characters would have stashes in their rooms though and probably always have flasks on them somewhere for meal times. The city the citadel is in has several inns and taverns that could cater to your taste. This game I am kinda bringing down the mysticism of the Orion Group, making it a more standard guild than what it would have been in the first game. Thus The Citadel is more like a Keep/Fortress in the Guild District of a city than an extra-dimensional city unto itself. That is not to say the Group is without its secrets and hidden rooms, and whatever else.

guild house

so we start out third level or equivalent with LA and we have our own rooms at the guild. That means we have lived there for a little bit and know the town and area around it as much as our characters personalities would allow, right?

Anything about the guild house that our characters should know besides that before we start?

people of the area

Also, like do we have any really negative or positive standings with any persons and people or groups within the city that we should know about. Has some of our more outstanding personality traits gotten us in trouble in the past or soon to get us in trouble (I guess we'll have to wait and see on that late one huh lol)?

Is there any type of bulletin board or Missions Post to let the Guild house know of upcoming jobs or events? Do we have to help with any specific activities around the guild house or any type of monthly/yearly dues that we need to know about.

Sorry if any of these are dumb question, but just curious to know.

Yes, your character is intimately familiar with the surrounding region, especially shops and whatnot they would frequent. This is one of the rare cases of Character Knowledge being more than Player Knowledge because I honestly have not put too terribly much detail into the city itself.

Guild duties are simply, do your jobs, keep your dorm area clean, and pick up after yourself after using any of the facilities.

Bulletin boards are more or less nonexistent within the guild itself. I suppose if you were looking for odd jobs around town during your off time the local taverns would have job postings. I'd probably handle those like profession rolls rather than have them played out.

Your dues are automatically taken out of the pay the guild receives for completed contracts before you get your cut, think of it as the games version of income tax.

You have no particularly good or bad reputation as such, though you all do typically draw wary glances from the more "normal" residents of the city who have a hard time trusting a pair of Drow, a Hobgoblin, and an obviously "tainted" dirty bum. Any drunken brawls in your past will have earned you a reputation, and any bars you frequent seem to have hired extra security to have on hand should anything get out of hand. None of the barkeeps will turn you away yet though, you spend far too much money there and they can't afford to alienate the entire guild by refusing service to a member.

Your rooms come standard with a simple bed and locking trunk, assume that over the past year or so you have acquired other odds and ends to decorate the room with. Nothing extremely valuable or magical but just decoration of your personal taste. I imagine the drunks would have shelves of empty bottles of all the fancy expensive booze they've drunk but that is up to you as the resident.
