CTP

awhhhhh you said supervillain. Some people say the "sweetest" things to me. I'm planning on a superhero but if a supervillain was needed then I would apply, but I would have to be a late 60s / early 70s type. kidnap a girl and if almost caught make the hero choose between one person vs the crowd that I just activated a bomb to topple a build on them to escape. If I ever catch a superhero, I would have to have... the red button.

" Alright, mr/s goody two shoes. Nothing can stop this elaborate evil plan unless you hit the red button. Now... I will leave you alone in this room while I walk slowly to evil control to watch my count down, Muahaha!"

@Espatier

Just covering my bases lol. Though I did leave out that you could be a cop or bystander or a fly on the wall, so not all bases were covered.

Funnily enough, I have a background NPC in mind for this game that having a 70s-styled villain would be great fun for their rogues' gallery lol.

Also, I'd love to hear about your character whenever you've decided on what you'd like to play. No spoilers, but maybe there could be a cool connection to make between yours and my character Dragonfly?

Dude, are you serious?

Are you offering me in a start role as a 70's villain that can get defeated, break out of jail or paroles and obsess over taking over Scyon city, then the world?.  As most bank robber say "Show me the money!".

And yes I do have a PL8 hero that I created in Herolab. "It's a .... dead person"  for right now, I call it Scarecrow,  in Spanish " espantapájaros "

"It" operates in the harvest field as the migrant workers work in a hot sun. They say that he comes in peoples dreams, rights wrongs and stops only certain crimes thou.

So It obviously has:

Dream powers

Reported to be "DEAD" and ugly

To invoke dreams and or a visit... the Hispanic community sells little statues of skeletal figurines that are holding a radio, smoking a cigar and drinking alcohol. sometimes the creature leaves lotto tickets, alcohol drinks, cigars for the kids.. candy and or electronic devices ( usually educational) or maybe a phone

For the Black community ( it is called " Candyman", it is said that dream visit sometimes leaves cryptic messages from dead loved loves, sometimes the creature leaves lotto tickets, alcohol drinks, cigars but for the kids.. candy and or electronic devices ( usually educational) or maybe a phone

For those that break "its" rules in these minority areas, justice can be quick or slow. the offender knew that he had "wronged" it because the person was aged to over 80-90s. Leaving that person vulnerable as they left their victim....

It frequents: Cemeteries, Churches ( any faith), harvesting fields and high drug use areas

I'm baaaaaaaaack!!!

Sorry I didn't check in more often but I was having too much fun on vacation and barely looked at my phone, let alone fire up a computer or log in to the Inn.

Nice to see some posts on my return, of course (looks like Aly might need a visit from Sam to improve her mood, eh?). Also, super excited to welcome Espatier to the game! Looking forward to seeing the "Candyman" concept unfold and see the character in action!

I've got to catch up with work, this morning, but, once I do that, I should be able to get back to work on maps and posts and all that happy horseradish!

Welcome Back!

Nice to see your fuzzy face again, Eol!

And a fresh welcome for Espatier! Very interested to see the Candyman at play in Scyon City.

Now for me to finally finish my post and get it up. Wish me luck!

Good luck!

Can't wait to see Dragonfly zipping through Scyon!!!

Also, I think I'm going to create a characters thread at some point today and move the character descriptions/backstories/etc there, so, watch for that a bit later.

Character thread is up!

Okay, gang, I've copied all of the character backgrounds and such to their own thread for ease of access/reference! As before, each character entry has been assigned to their individual player so you don't have to rely on me to perform any updates or edits.

Link to the new thread: Scyon City Characters

Character thread updates

Okay, I've reserved three additional spots in the characters thread just in case we manage to recruit any other players. I think 8 PCs is a decent "max capacity" for a game such as this, right?

Also, I've copied the "Notable NPCs" post over to the new thread and "stubbed in" a new entry, there, for "The Inspectre!" Thanks, C2P, for such a nifty concept and an awesome way of padding some of Scyon City's superhero lore.

Eol, you should have the link to the folder that I made for you and your character (M&M 3rd edition). The pdf labeled "Candyman" is your PL8 super neutral? type aka Candyman / Scarecrow

@Espatier

Thanks for the links, sir!

Also, totally digging Scarecrow/Candyman. Creepy AF, as the whippersnappers say! Should be an interesting addition to the tale(s) that we spin, here.

As I mentioned in a PM to you a couple of days ago, any major rural/farmland regions are going to be found west of Scyon City proper - over the Queens river, past the Palisades, and out yonder in the boonies. That said, there are certainly numerous clusters of "people of color" that live in the city, itself, and would likely be reasonable spots for "It" to be encountered.

  1. Scyon River Island (better known as "The Fens") is one such spot. It's one of the roughest neighborhoods in the city and very much culturally diverse. (Also, home to Zareena Reed/Dragonfly).
  2. West Hanover and Lantern Hill in the Downtown region also support sizeable communities of "black" (African-American, Haitian, Jamaican, etc) and hispanic people. Many of these folks would be dock workers and the like. Possibly even some who "commute" west to work the farms and such.
  3. Bay View Island, too, might be a center of folks who'd know of/encounter "It."

Just a few options/ideas for you, of course, and by no means "set in stone." This is freeform, after all, and we're all kind of building this together, so feel free to improvise and such. As always, if you have any questions or need a nudge one way or another, you all know where to find me!

Working on a post, today, and, hopefully, will also get a decent map at least started, as well.

Looking forward to seeing some posts!
