Ovelia

Would Ovelia know if the 4 soldiers are staying in GT's room with him, or are they in separate rooms? And if seperate, where are they?

Q&A

She wouldn't know - she's only caught a glimpse once of the 4 soldiers enterring the inn with Thanald, and not much since then.

However, a good professional knows how to plan for all possible scenarios.

Passive information gathering...

How about overheard chit-chat on the streets, Lou? Any interesting conversations or tid-bits of note from those (Sea Snake or simple citizen) who might be passing by the alleyway where Nyx and Sylla are lurking?

Grumbles from the 'citizenry' about the gang-members swarming the streets? Griping from the Snakes about whatever it is that's got so many of them gathered on the edges of their territory (or even 'excited banter' for that matter)?...

Nyx, I'm sure, is all eyes, ears, and treachery and, as such, would be listening as keenly as looking.

OOC's

Meri - no problem on the belated bit. I figured I'd hear from you sooner or later. So glad that the colored version meets with your approval. As far as the wallpaper thing goes... I can whip you up something like that if you want... I took the original pic I did of Nyx, for example, worked the ever-lovin-bejeebers out of it in photoshop (color smoothing, lighting, backgrounding with Prien's symbol, etc) and came up with this.... Kinda looks more evil than in the orignal, eh? Let me know what size you want/need and I'll be glad to wriggle a wallpaper out of Cay's pic for you.

Lou - Nah... you didn't miss a thing. I just 'afterthoughted'... my fault entirely. I'll remember to include business like that in my OOCs from here on out, though. Can I take a mulligan?

Not much... but enough, just the same...

Never underestimate the power potential of the 'whispered word', eh?

Thanks, Lou...

rules stuff

Gigi-

In the future, please list which spell you're using and all appropriate rolls, and other info that might be relevant. I can always guess or make an educated DM-style decision, but I prefer not to. I am lax on the rules - I prefer writing and story, but I prefer the PCs to throw in a short (OOC: this is what i'm doing rules-wise) to make it clear.

That being said, I'm assuming you're using Alter Self. Even when its fairly obvious, I'd still prefer a little rules-based note; just one of my little idiosyncracies...

I will throw in a post either later today (not probable) or tomorrow (likely). So far so good, everyone.

And quite evil...

Rules stuff, too...

So, waitaminnit - you're allowing us to roll the dice for ourselves, then?

Sweet... guess I missed that somewhere.

I had assumed that the dice rolling would be in your hands, I guess, because that's the way most of the games I've played in have been run so far... I did notice, though, that Meri did her own rolls a post or three ago and, given your last post here, am now realizing that we get to roll for ourselves... "Wakey, wakey, Eol!"

I'm hoping to have a post up a bit later, myself... might be as late as tomorrow morning, though... Penciling away on Spite and Mallys, ATM.

roll wha..? Huh?

Yes I was using Alter Self.

I too had assumed you were rolling, since that's how most of the games go. And i hate to say it but if I had known, I probably would have passed. Summer is a really busy time for me, and having the DM do the rolling makes it easier on me.

Despite having a bard in Lantan and now in Drasnia, I'm unfamiliar with it so I will do some heavy reading and maybe I will have time to adjust my playstyle before I am off again on Thursday.

Rolling Along

Huh... I didn't realize that most DM's on the forums do the rolling for chars. I've only done tabletop play and there I've always had to roll my own dice. So... yeah if I screwed up I appologize, or... if I did unknowingly what I was supposed to... great! lol...

Rassafrassin Eol... Stirrin' up trouble again!

Didn't mean to cause a ruckus... my bad.

Meri - I don't know that I'd say most DMs prefer to roll the dice themselves, just that that's been my experience in play by post games. I know there are a few about that actually prefer to let the players roll their own dice, just haven't played with any of them, yet.

Personally, I don't have a preference one way or anohter (I'm more a storyteller type where gaming is concerned and the rules bits are, admittedly, an afterthought for me most of the time... or at least waaay in the back of the ol' noodle until it gets to combat or whatever...)

Anyhoo... as I said, didn't mean to cause a stir, just wanted to make sure I was going with the proper flow, so to speak. If Lou rolls, great... If we roll, great, too (and, I'll be glad to assist with the rolls and whatnot for those that may not be comfortable with it... )

rollplaying

Ack.

I didn't mean that you would do the rolls - I meant that you would post which spell, skill or whathaveyou you might be using; also if you were doing that something that might require a roll (i.e. a simple check of strength). In other words, I meant that any time dice might need to be rolled, I'd like you to post it up.

If for no other reason, to remind the absent-minded DM.

Merideth - I allowed the roll you did because...well, I'm not a stickler. But had you done that, say...in combat, I would have ruled that the DM would be rolling. One roll here and there is fine, though.

Ack, my mistake.
