re: positioning

If you want Bruno near Talon because your pony is slower than the horses I personally don't see a problem with it.

If that's where you want Bruno at, where would you prefer Garrik be at? Front, back, across from Bruno, or something else entirely?

Anybody got any suggestions on their or anyone's positioning and/or role while guarding the wagon?

map

so we are starting at bottom right corner of map I am taking it. Should we be making miscellaneous posts? Or are we going straight to an encounter? I do not really know much about the landscape from the map, out side that it seems foresty with mountains to the north.

Now is the time for conversation

Ask your questions and converse with one another until I post an update. Each update equals a rest period at night and 15 miles of travel, in which you all will set up watches and camp till morning.

Here is an updated map showing a shorter route.

Sorry for the delay

Ok, So I finally have some time to post, YAY lol. I've been looking over the past several posts, both on here and on the main story thread as well. I'll be posting some catch up posts to make up for the lack of them lately.

As for the most recent post on here, I've been looking at my character sheet and I only need a total of 3 hours time to be fully rested and have my praying for the day done on my cleric. That seems I can take all of the night guard duty besides for 2 hours right at the end, and 1 hour at dawn for praying. We could work it where someone just takes over for him 3 hours before sunrise and just rotate who's turn it is to be the "pick up" man.

And about Patrick's position within the caravan, I was going to have him ride beside Talon in the cart/wagon if there is room. If there is not, then I'll have him ride his horse as close to Talon as possible.

Where is everyone else going to be. I'd presume our rogue friend wouldn't want to be in the front so I was thinking the following order would work:

[Behufil] [Bruno]
[Patrick] [Talon/Wagon]
[Garrick] [Isilifeline]

This would allow for 2 heavy hits in the front, Garrick to help Isi (you know he wouldn't mind that) in the back and Patrick center to help either pair if needed and also help protect Talon. Let me know if any of you were thinking differently. (Also, I'm assuming that Talon might want a word or two in as to where people should be or who will be protecting him and helping protect the wagon.)

Sorry for the long post, now to figure out the game posts to match this lol.

ring of sustenance

Yeah Bruno has one too, so the whole guard duty should not be too big of a deal: someone without a ring of S. watches for the first 3 hours, then gets a good night sleep while the rest of us keep watch. I am good with suggested traveling marching order.

Camping for the night yet?

I totally overlooked the fact that Bruno had the ring as well. That will definitely make the guard duties easier for everyone. I guess we will wait for the first "breaking for camp" post to worry about who's going to go when as far as shifts go for night duty. If Patrick and Bruno sleep first then get up, Patrick will just need an hour around dawn for prayer for a refreshed spells list and mana pool. I guess he can do that while everyone else is packing up and getting breakfast.

I'm hoping to get Talon fully going on the first night's camp with at least some of the info about the gnolls and/or priestess though we might have to wait longer before he'd tell us about her, still being close to the city. Maybe with Bruno's help, we can at least get the gnolls addressed as we'll be needing to know about where they usually attack the traveling merchants at along the way to Leafhaven. That should give the group an idea of where they'd be come from, general area only of course.

I guess we'll have to wait in see huh?

ring and things

Garrik has a ring of S. too. As long as moon cat is fine with the marching order i don't see a problem with it. I'll take first watch when we camp if that's alright.

By the way the second horse i have is tie to the back of the wagon and trailing it. I bought an extra in case one of ours got killed or when/if we find Bruno's family they could ride it together if there isn't room in the wagon for them.

the spare tire... i mean horse

We could use it as emergency rations (for those who do not have the amazing R of S)! Or use it like they did Bill in LotR and have it take the attack of some monster while the rest of us escape!

HAHAHA, the devilish ideas one comes up with. Bruno would not think of these things mind you... at least not as a plan. Perhaps spur of the moment...

Update.....so soon?

I was hoping for some travel banter of some sort. Shades should be talking Talon's ear off during travel and game wise I haven't received near enough posts from brianna or Jozan1. I've got two from Strike but that was about the start of the journey but not the journey itself.

The way I'd like this to go is, each of you post, THEN I update with the rest stop. You all post your actions during the rest stop, then I update getting you all started again, and maybe along the way there will be one or two encounters (maybe more depending how everyone handles the ones I present).

Remember, it's at least a 5 day trip. Your characters wanted information, I would think they would talk it up to get conversation started. You don't really want to wait to camp to get the info and have it interrupted by an ambush do you?

conversing on the go

I for one usually think that camp is the best way to talk things up. Here is why I think such:
When a group is traveling, they have the clopping of horses, the song of birds, and other sounds impearing them from hearing danger. Adding another distraction to the mix is rather cumbersome.

At night, there is a little less action (no horses clomping about at least), and since it does take time to settle in, it is the perfect time to have a meeting. Also, since a group does not usually (in my logic) travel an entire day without a full stop to rest the horses, this could be another time for the group to discuss.

Bruno is not very extrovert in character, so he does not talk alot.

As for the current, Bruno would most definatly be at the laed, he does not have the Track Feat however... I cannot believe I do not have that and have great fortitude! Sorry to everyone out there, I should have thought to take this feat instead of munchkining it up. XD Will post later on today, as I am at family for Canadian Thanksgiving.

barbarian blunder

Garrik cast the spell like ability, not Talon. Just wanted to clear that up for you.
Talon's actions will be decided by the DM, not me.

ok here are some answers and info on present situatation

You don't need the Track feat (which uses the survival skill) to FIND tracks that match or resemble what Talon described. Just the search skill. You can find them, you just can't tell which set belong to which creature or even be sure that the creature that seems to have made the print, actually made it, or how new or old the prints are. You'll just know that they are there and the chance exists that whatever made the tracks are still there in the forest somewhere.

Also you are roughly 10 miles out of the kingdom. Talon said he "wanted to make the foot hills of Mt. harauk my sunset."
Well, you are pretty close, but he wants to get clear of this marker his friend told him of, first before camping and resting.

Here is a link to the map showing where you are and here is a magnification showing more detail of your location. Talon knows about the trails and spaces in the forest to a degree. They have been used as campsites by merchants before.

NOTE: THE "PREV - NEXT" BUTTONS ARE NOT TO BE USED. THERE ARE OTHER MAPS THAT I WILL SHOW AT THE TIME I DEEM NECESSARY. I will learn to use the links better in time, but until then, please don't spoil anything for yourselves or others. Thanks
