Is there room?
Any chance you guys have room for another player? Am I too late? If so I'd like to waitlist in case someone has to drop.
I'm looking through the books now - would be my first Traveller game, though I'm familiar with DnD pretty much since ADnD started, PF and a few homebrews. I pick up as I go pretty well.
I'll start a character in any case, so I'm ready to go if you want me.
*edit: was going to look at books. The dropbox links are saying they've been disabled. Reading Book 0 now in any case.

Fuel
With it being an Antimatter ship does that mean that we have to provide the antimatter? Otherwise we have to come up with $5000/month...
And does that then mean we have an added 34 tons of space(formerly for fuel), to allocate as we choose?

Sure, right
It's shaping up to be quite promising indeed!
Don't think there's much harm done in bumping things just a bit.

Whew
Learning new systems on the fly is hard work!
Managed to get a character shaped up. Based it on 4 terms but I can redact the last one if needed without too much trouble.
Always exciting to be looking at a fresh C-sheet. Should we share our general builds so we can look for any glaring holes in party makeup? I'm happy to completely rebuild if needed to accommodate the group.
Cheers!

Agreed
Let's see what big Al has in stock for us, but simply put, I'm rocking a pilot. Going to draw a few sketches of her now, if anybody wants I can try to doodle yours too. Not doing much anyway!
As with learning new systems, I think Traveller is quite interesting. A simple d6 base, some solid rules, and the supplements offer a wide array of extra careers and rules to drink from. The only matter tingling my number-crunching senses is the lack of structured character development (such as gaining levels in D&D), short of some lengthy skill training and, of course, buying gear, augmentations, etc.
Then again, that might just not be the point of it. My biggest issue right now is tidying up the backstory, and choosing a noteworthy "secret" so I can be blackmailed. Heh.

Gaining levels in game is basically the same as taking a new career term... Every 4 years you gain a new skill based on what you have been doing, and the GM determines the roll for a second skill... Then aging appropriately.
And there is the Central Supply Catalogue for gear and such.

Didn't catch that before
Is that so? Still a long way to go then.
Gotta take care with that aging, depending on the overall goal you have at character creation, you can start with quite an old one.

age
The characters can start quite old, but age doesn't count for much... If you can get your hands on the anagathics (the drugs to stop the aging process) you can basically stay at one age forever.

Age junkies
Anagathics basically make you dependant... gotta spend thousands of credits every month to keep the aging halted, otherwise you suffer aging effects immediately. Dangerous stuff.
I'm going for a clean aging. Overall medicine probably has everyone well past the century mark anyway, and my character isn't too old by any means.

Yeah you do get dependant... but if you are a scientist... particularly a chemist... you can make it yourself
It isn't too bad, but yeah it is expensive.

Gonna get something together soon
Looking forward to getting killed during character creation.
Also can my secret be I killed the drug addicted alien I knocked up while filming a sex tape behind my wife's back that I only made to pay back my gambling debts? Or is that being too selfish with the sins.
