Edit notice...
Okay, I couldn't let Ziv's comment go. Edited my last post to allow Caise a rebuttal of sorts. Shouldn't affect the posts or anything, just a "jedi moment".

What? What comment? Why Ziv would never.. ah.. ok you got me.. damn Jedi hearing
OK. I know it is out of turn but I just had to post something, it shouldn’t interfere with anyone else’s actions so I hope it is alright. Ziv just had to react to the Jedi’s comment.

Mercutio by any other name
I would like Mercury to remain a young kid - around 17-18. Dirty blond hair that is cut short, and no facial hair worth speaking of. He has brown eyes and has a small scar on his neck (from a flying piece of glass) that would look down right sexy on a rugged face, but on his baby face - it looks like he cut himself shaving.
Basic image - Young Leo DiCaprio in "The Quick and the Dead"
I am not sure if I even have skills in driving land based vehicles, but I picture him loving anything that moves fast.

Mercury's updated
Zombie, I've updated Mercutio's entry per your last post. Based on your description, I even guessed at height and weight.
Also, I believe that Merc's Pilot and Engineering skills probably cover the lad's lust for speed.

Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?
Thank you Eol. I wasn't sure if pilot covered ground based equipment. I know other systems departmentalize skills to the nth degree.
You can simply call me Z if you'd prefer.

U B Welcome
No problem, Z... If I read the rulebook correctly, the Pilot skill covers most everything from swoopbikes to speeders to starships. Basically if it's got mechanical bits and it goes "zoom" your pilot skill should help you drive it... engineering (and craft) skills, of course, give you some knowledge about how they work, how to fix them if they're broken, and (where craft is concerned) how to build them.
By the by... I've got a pretty decent rendering of Caise finished (no color, as yet, though) and have rough-ins of the others in our party in the works (Dime and Mercury are the closest to being completed at the moment but Damanil and Ziv are starting to take shape as well). Maybe as I finish them, I'll scan and toss some character pics into the entries we've got for them.

To be, or not to be: that is the question
How do communciations between planets work in Star Wars? I want to establish a pattern of communication between Mercury and the family he left behind, but I'm not sure how it works. I assume Mercury can't use the local phone to call his folks (Yo! Dad! I'm stranded on this planet with some strangers and they are doing spice! Can you pick me up?).

communications in Star Wars
I have been asked about how communications in Star Wars works. Here goes:
Basic communication is via commlink. These come in hand-held, vehicle-mounted, and installation/starship mounted varities (listed from weakest to most powerful). Without any assistance, a typical handheld commlink has an effective range of 50 kilometers, more or less, but if properly configured to take advantage of a satellite network, this can be greatly increased. Commlink speed is slightly less than that of light, so these are pretty much useless for interstellar communications.
Option number two is subspace radio. This has a much greater range than standard commlink, but requires a lot more power. A subspace radio typically has a real-time range of several light years. Sector governments often set up a network of subspace transceivers that help connect the scattered worlds, forming a sector-wide communications grid. Ships, command posts, government buildings, etc have these.
Finally, you have the HoloNet, the most powerful and far-reaching communications medium. A network of non-mass transcievers submerged into the time-bending dimension of hyperspace connects worlds in real-time across incredible distances. The HoloNet, maintained by the Republic, is a horrendously expensive venture, and similarly the devices required to communicate on the HoloNet are extremely costly.
HoloNet comms are the realtime, 3-d talking images you see in Star Wars movies. Devices that use the HoloNet are only found on spaceships (and usually only capitol ships, or those that have special need, such as General Kenobi's personal ship in episode 2) or installations. In my games, I would expedct that pay-per-use kiosks are available for this, as well.

Pics would be great Eol!
If you want some idea how I've imagined Damanil (feel free to use your illusion) here's a picture by Brom: Damanil Shadoran

Thanks... that helps... :)
Don't know that I can compete with Brom's work, of course, but that image definitely helps. (Differences in style and all of that, you know?) The hair, in particular, would have been quite a bit different had I not seen that.
Oh and if you get a chance and are so inclined, update Damanil's character entry on yonder previous page of this thread... purdy preeeez?

I'm enjoying this one very much already... have the next adventure already written up (provided that you survive this one and care to continue).

Pics...
...are getting there. Caise is penciled out, Dime and Mercury are probably the next closest to done, Damanil and Ziv are still very rough but I've now got a good idea of Mr Shadoran's appearance and have some good ideas for the Zivster, too.. I seem to be on a roll since Thursday or thereabouts so if it continues I should have at least pencils done in a few days.
As far as I'm concerned, I think you're playing Ziv just fine... I like the "twist".
