Grrrrrrrrr
Sometimes I hate computers.
My old laptop has been having trouble. So I bought a new one. But since I don't have office on it yet, I needed to create the character on the old laptop so that I could save a copy easily in Word. But as soon as I tried to open the internet to post the information the computer flipped out. It is currently restarting and I'll see what I can make work. So another delay.
But I want you to know that I do have a start on the character.
Rhyson Ezuricai of House Tandris - and elf mage originally from a small outlying community near Valkris.
Details to follow as soon as possible.

Open Office.....
Until you get MS Word loaded you could try the free app of "Open Office" with a word style application.

Open office
I may do that.
For now neither restarting nor a scan of the machine did anything. Love/hate these stupid things.
Brief outline of Rhyson - I have more written.
Minor noble from small town near the circles city.
Second son - magical, not the one to inherit.
Sees higher ranking nobles persecuting a guy he works with and his wife - interferes.
One does not mess with those of higher rank (Rhys hates such ideas) and he must leave.
Goes to Thay (Right name?) with the two he rescued. They find work in town at an alchemists and he makes his way to the Pegasus.
Do elves live super long in this world? Also, are elves common in the city controlled by the Circle? Are they different in any way given their lifespan if it is different?

Nice
Good start. Elf do have long lives here on Valkana. They are the first people to develop magic and are often the ones on the forefront of mixing magic and tech. Elves were almost completely wipe out at one point so they either are city elves or Daresh. City elves are always seeking power, status and position to better themselves. Daresh tend to small communities or a nomadic life keeping away from mainstream culture.
So your background works well as a city elf choosing to be a Daresh.

More Lum..........
Dwan soon found out that although Lum would efficiently complete a request he could defiantly resist a direct order. He distinctly remembered the one time he had shook his finger in Lum's face as he tried to order the Orc to move a pile of rocks. Lum's brows furrowed as a dark and menacing look covered his face. The Orc held to his chest the pouch on the thong he rumbled, "Please." Dwan was a wise businessman, he quickly lowered his hand and coughed out, "Oh yes..of course, please."
Dwan had watched as big dark Orc had studied the structure before he repaired the walls of the Inn. That skill hinted of formal training and which was best known from the guilds of Nestora. The old prejudices between Orc and Dwarv had grown from the belief that the big creatures didn't have the mind or the discipline to apply the logic required to create a structure; only the strength to place the materials. One of Lum's strengths was letting others underestimate him.

Computers and things
I always use Open Office at home. Have for years. My last computer came with MS Word but only a 6 month subscription so I never bothered with it. Open Office works for me at home and if I need Word then I can use it at work.
I am liking what I see for Rhyson and Lum. I can't wait to get this adventure going.
Alacrity had told me he wasn't going to post our character sheets but rather let us share what we wanted. I have shared my characters history including how she became a Scout. The rest will have to be found out during play.
Looking forward to reading more.

A Little At A Time.....
I will get a bit more up on Lum soon. Being that the party has been together for a year I'd guess they had learned a bit more.

New background
Tomiki Kenji was born an elf to a prominent elf family that did not want him, within a matter of hours he was left in an alley all alone. By fate or the gods some say he was found by a young Asian women. The human women feeling an immediate bond to the Elvin child took him home to her family. Though at first hesitant her determination to raise the elf child convinced her very oriental focused family to accept him as their own.
The first 20 years of his life from age 5 consisted of training in Japanese style combat with weapons, horses, and in the art of stealth. It was revealed to him during this time that the hesitation of taking him in to his new family was due to the family business of Ninjitsu or the Art of Assassination. He learned the history from its beginning by Prince Shotoku as spies, to it's first true use in the Genpei War for assassination. He was taught the eighteen disciplines.
Bajutsu - horsemanship
BÅjutsu - stick and staff techniques
BÅryaku - tactics
Chi-mon - geography
ChÅhÅ - espionage
HensÅjutsu - disguise and impersonation
Intonjutsu - escaping and concealment
Kayakujutsu - pyrotechnics
Kenjutsu - sword techniques
Kusarigamajutsu - kusarigama (chain-sickle) techniques
Naginatajutsu - naginata (polearm) techniques
Seishinteki kyÅyÅ - spiritual refinement
Shinobi-iri - stealth and infiltration
Shurikenjutsu - throwing weapons techniques
SÅjutsu - spear techniques
Sui-ren - water training
Taijutsu - unarmed combat
Tenmon - meteorology
With his family's help over the next 40 years he became one of it's greatest shinobi no mono, or better known as ninja to those outside the family. He gained the name of 'The Spider" to both friend and foe alike for his ability to get in and out of places. His success brought much money and prestige to his family as the years passed by
However he was born an elf and as he grew as such, his family grew old as human's and one by one his human family slowly died. Leaving just him at his mothers side as she slowly died at the human age of 96. That day the hardest for him in his 60 years as within a few short hours she was gone leaving him once more alone. For the next 10 years he wandered the lands not so much the assassin but as a figure of oriental idealism. Though he still took jobs as an assassin or thief the jobs were now more against those deserving of it then for the anonymous.
Finally in his wanderings he found himself in the town of Thay working for a Dwarf named Dwan, locating and recovering various tech and items of interest from the Rust Wastes, and has been here for a year to date......
I think its much better then my crossworld one and is a tribute to YeOlde as his character in my game was also named Tomiki Kenji.

Not Samurai, more Ninja like
Ninja were more assassin and rogue like where Samurai were more traditional Japanese Paladin like. That's why I had him learn the art of Ninjitsu rather then Bushido. And I thought what's more different then an elf raised as a Ninja.
Plus also I did it to honor a fallen Innmate named YeOlde as he died on the 24th of Sept 2011 and it's coming up on the 5th year since he passed away. By the end he and I had become good friends through my game and his death hit me hard. Still miss him to this day he was a very great person and Innmate. While I was still a staff member I posted a blog about him. Here is the title if you want to read it. Look for it in the blog area under RDI news it's the 6th story down under Attention all Innmates.

Interesting
We will need to modify that background a bit as there is no Japan in this world but that is easily done. Also the characters start out around 2nd lvl so you would not be that well trained.

Maybe
Just a human family that was a clan of assassins that would be this worlds equivalent of Ninjas, just by a different name. Their family names could 'sound' Japanese even though they weren't.

Wood Elve..........
It could easily be something akin to a Wood Elve. In this world the Elves were nearly wiped out so a clan retreating to the forests and developing stealth fighting skills. They were too few to make an army but could have hit and run and assassin skills.
