updates

And we're updated again.

Valimar has noted that his computer is down, and he will start posting again as soon as he has created a new one.

I have not heard from Jozan or Cdn, and I'm gettig a bit tired of having to PM people to post. I don't want to, but very soon I'm going to have your enemies find a liking to either of these characters. I know Draven and Alyssia had something going on, as did Geim and Loda (kinda), but I don't want to wait in vain for a post, or something like that.

Aside from an embarrasing trip

I take it there's no grievous injury? a couple hp at most I would surmise judging buy bruising and what not, if it's even lethal damage at all?

I'l start a post tonight but not likely get it up till monday or tuesday my days off.

Welcome back Tann!

hehe

what happened? You went down a very steep path, and didn't make your balance check. Full plate isn't easy on you in that sort of situation. Be glad Kaelyn made his concentration check in his fall. Without the damage from his spell the ogre would still be running, Malius or not.

???

Does the Ogre had a weapon on him. Elesssarae wants to stab him with his own weapon to cover the fact that he had been taken down by a arrow.

Also it the grass at the top of the hill dry enought to burn?

weapon

I think I said he had a whip. That's basically all he had.

And the grass is not dry enough to burn.

Ogre

Is Geim of Thorndrek closer to where the ogre lies, or is Malius carrying an ax?

Plan of Action

Alright, here's taking from some military background and Tann at least will likely agree. (Anyone else, you've likely seen LotR two towers )

We currently have the advantage of hieght, and the higher ground the better. We've also, aside from this brief grassy space we're in have rocky outcroppings and boulders likely behind or even before us. If we can take out as many of them before actively engageing them in melee the better. We have plenty of ranged options, from arrows and bolts to Loda's flaming Spheres and the like.

If Loda has an Entangle Spell, I'd suggest backing up beyond the clearing, into the rocky hills and having Loda entangle the clearing as soon as a good number of goblins have entered it, holdin them down while we pepper them with projectiles. Even if not, we can pepper them as they cross the clearing.

With the higher ground, just as we fell on it, we make the enemy come to us, traversing the difficult ground while we secure stable footholds and take them on as we can. Placing Alyssia and Geim in the rear (possibly Malius if he's archery prone rather than dual weapons I'll have to check)

If we can put Alyssia behind Thondrek or another melee fighter, hopefully between two large outcroppings or what not, slightly above them even (I'm suggesting Thondrek because I have the ability to teleport quickly) and as the goblins swarm she can lightning bolt numerous ones in a single spell, and provide some backpacking of spells and healing while the meleeist hacks away.

Thoughts?

Ok

Checking Through Alyssia's spells (and I'll call Miranda and suggest this though I don't know if she's even got internet access)

I suggest she cast's Stoneskin on the two main melee fighters, those that will be wading into the most combat, that being either Thondrek, Draven or Malus with his twin swords.

Alyssia can also if need be levitate and cast lightning bolts from above, but the likelyhood of hitting more than one target lessens.

Ok here's my 2 cents

Kaelyn's idea has merit and I think most of it is the way to go hold the high ground and plaster the enemy force.
Brianna also has the right of that we need to warn the Dwarves of whats headed thier way so here's as the title says my 2 cents.

First we take the best postion among the rocks and as Kaelyn said use entangle and ranged spells to hammer the critters as they reach the clearing, using the clearing as a killing ground.

Second we send the only other person possibly quicker then myself to warn the dwarves that being DM's character as she too is Sylvari.

Now all of us if we run are not going to make it, Valimar. DM and myself would most likely be able to out run the horde but that would mean leaving the dwarven party members to die. So the majority of us have to stand and fight giving DM enough time to get away to warn the other dwarves. Maybe if we are lucky we can hold them off long enough to survive.

As for melee or bow I do both well but according to Almerin I with the increase in LvL are better at melee. So I will stand up fron firing my bow till they get within melee range then switch to my swords.

Well there you have my 2 cents ............ Now its off to the Movies to see the 12:01 showing of the Dark Knight!! Woot Woot!!

.

Almerin, what I really think would help here for us to devise a plan is to have a map. Could we have a map of the valley the goblins are in, the path they will take to come up onto the plateau, and the rocky crags we are in? That will help so much.

my plan is if the path leading from the valley to the plateau is a narrow path then we rush forwards, meeting them there and hold off at the mouth magic/missiles pepper them while fighters hold off the front rank with buffs. Kaelyn can dimension hop boulders down the path, i can summon fire and flying animals, and alyssia can fire lightnign down this path. it will be a slaughter. My hope is to demoralize the goblins so much they run giving us a chance to regroup w/o any attackers following us.

yes

We gathered a bunch of peopl in chat to discuss plans (beyond my illusory dwarvenvengeance lol)

but that dependso n the actual terrain. It may well be better to take the fight to the lip of the valley/clearing, or the rocky crags, or to flee altogether, but a visual aide is much appreciated... and needed.

Plans

Yes map, details.

Information that is needed:

One how far back is the castle?

How many enemy are coming up the trail?

How wide is the trail?

IS there a place on the trail the is rather dangerous?

Is their an outcropping of rocks, bolulders that could be sent rolling down the hill.

How far down into the valley to the main body of the enemy.

Is the main body of the enemy close enough to be rallied to come to the rescue of those already coming up the hill.

More questions maybe coming.

ok

map coming up then.

But seriously... you guys are going to take on the goblins? I did mention there are possibly 1000 or more...
You are going to be in for a treat then.

Answers:

Castle? Which Castle? You can look at the Audalis maps and add 1 day of travel to the outer borders of the northern Sylvari Kingdom.

So far it is hard to see how many enemies are coming up. The encampent is astir, and at least thirty torches are coming up so far. That doesn't mean that more will come or are coming already.

The trail is not much more than a series of passable areas. It would not even qualify as a goat's path. So basically the whole trail is dangerous.

Yes, there are boulders, but they are heavy. You need to pry them loose, and by more than muscle strength.

The main body of the enemy, being the encampment is at least 900 feet below where you are now. But the goblins are climbing fast. Faster than you would think them to be able to at this kind of steep path.

If they are close enough is for you to judge. I'm not going to give away my tactics here.
