Yup... LOVED the Belgariad!
Drasnia, in this case, though, is a vast, port city as opposed to the country depicted in those books.
I imagine 'Cap'n Lou' probably named the city after reading them, though.
P.S. So far so good with the barbarian, Astrid... if you're going for "Conan" though, you might wanna go a little more "gruff and growly."... you've got a good start on it.

*raises hand* Oooo! I do!
Thing is, though, the drunken antics and utter lack of hesitation at trading insults and epithets has kind of gotten Nyx to take something of a liking to Finn, I think...
...I'm fairly certain that someone in the Lute has the guy's back.

LOL
Tyr works...
Also... naming characters can be an exercise in brain-twisting, sometimes. Gods know I've been stuck more than once. Some things I've found helpful where that's concerned:
- Random Name Generators (found all over the interwebz, in RPG characters generators like PCGen, etc... May not always give you a name you really like but they do come in handy for inspiration, etc)
- BOOKS (of all sorts... sometimes you need to open them up and read them, other times you can pull a pretty cool name (or the impetus for one, anyway) right off the cover or spine.)
- TV/Movies (again, may not always want to pull an entire name from a well known movie/show but, I find, that there's a plethora of interectingly named characters out there for inspiration)
- People you know (always fun to name a character after that kid that bullied you in school and kill them off horribly in some dungeon crawl, isn't it?)
Anyhoo... Just food for thought. Use it or ignore it as you see fit.

GMing the game.
I understand that I have given permission for others to role play my list NPCs in the Bleeding Lute.
With that being said, I do not appreciate characters that I am personally roleplaying being taken over by other players/Innmates without my consent.
What is done is done. In the future, please ask my permission first before role playing a creation that I have made and am currently using.

Rules Reminder.
As a reminder, I posted the following rules on the first page of this thread:
Rules:
Have fun.
No time restraints, no expectations.
If you want to have a little heavier role play action with one of the main NPCs (e.g. Maria the bartender, Henry the owner), either drop me a line here or PM me. Otherwise, if you feel comfortable with it, go ahead and role play them.
The NPC’s that I set up for ‘daily’ interactions are free for you to write their interactions as you see fit, but I’d be more than happy to role play them if you wish! I may also pop in and give the reactions depending on what’s going on.
A list of NPCs available for light roleplaying is also found on the first page of this thread, as well as the first page of the Bleeding Lute thread.
I recommend checking that first page out, as it is full of useful information about the Bleeding Lute.
Main NPCs
Henry – The owner. Tall, wiry, mouse brown hair with an ever present red floppy hat. Henry is a straight forward kind of guy, who is very proud of his business. “This is my establishment, I will have no fighting, no stealing, and no destruction of property!” although what happens in game doesn’t necessarily mean that it’ll adhere to his rules Though gruff on the surface, he really is a pleasant and accommodating man.
Maria – The Bartender. A Curvy, dark haired woman with a really easy demeanor to go along with her bartending sass. She has a tendency to call everyone “Hon”.
Cookie – The Cook. Tall and muscular with a 5 o’clock shadow and short brown hair, Cookie is built like a wall. He has tattoos up his arms, and rarely speaks. On the inside, he’s gooey, showing a particular soft spot for kids.
Sarah – Barmaid . She is a fair haired, light skinned wisp of a woman who is extremely efficient at her job, but very nervous.
Hugh – Wait staff. Well, part time wait staff. This mildly handsome young man with an expanding girth enjoys drinking and dancing with the patrons. He is often seen in ratty shirts with expensive looking vests.
Murph – Security. Murph is a heavily armed, lean redheaded half elf, who speaks to no one. Need I say more?
Please note that the two bar flies, Waldorf and Statler are described for ambient surroundings only; they will only be roleplayed by myself.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask me here, or shoot me a PM. I just wanted to make the rules clear once more, because every game has got to have a few.
The Bleeding Lute is still open for business, so please feel free to keep up the awesome interaction!

Post coming
I am working on an introductory post; I've decided on another old character of mine I think you might enjoy.
I should have something up later tonight or tomorrow for sure! Save me a seat in the Lute.

Finn's Description
Finn MacCuel is a shaggy looking man of questionable hygiene. He doesn't reek, but there is an earthy quality to him that just doesn't reassure you he's had a bath in decent memory.
He has a round pleasant face and is prone to smiling. His skin is a suntanned brown. He is of middling height, with broad shoulders, but the recent blight has left him a bit thin.
His eyes are bright blue and his long hair a rusty auburn, which he ties back in a lose messy braid. His beard is long, bristly and unkempt.
The left side of his neck up to his ear and following his jawline is covered in burn scars. The hair on this side of his head is frizzier and grows thinner. A large portion of his upper ear is missing, and the rest is an angry red. He has similar scars on the top of his left hand.
He wears a buckskin jerkin from under which a sweat-stained linen shirt peaks out, and hose fastened with horn buttons and leather straps. The Leather belt around his waist is decorated with elaborate tooled embellishments and unfamiliar symbols.
His boots are over-worn, having been resoled, wrapped and patched too many times to remember, barely resembling the stout shoes they once must have been.
Tucked into the belt are a large knife and hatchet similarly embellished. A Gold torque with boars heads hangs off his neck. A tarnished silver pin with a hounds head is stuck through the leather of his jerkin. A bronze signet ring bearing a the symbol of a serpent biting another serpents tail making a sideways "eight" is on his left hand. He is missing the end of his left pinkie.
His arms and fingers are tattooed with faded blue ink in symbols similar to the ones on his belt.
A large black oilskin haversack and an over-sized woolen blanket woven in a blue tartan seem to be the extent of his kit.
