DM's post...

I try and avoid criticisms of players in the q/a, but I have to say DM that I wasn't impressed with your last post.

I just want to make 2 small points regarding Elendil's demand for a share of the loot.

1) Chris stated yesterday to Jozan, Reralae and I that Elendil and Bronwyn would be getting separate rewards. So effectively what you're asking for is a greater reward than any other player.

2) Frankly Elendil contributed least to the battle. If we discount her 'friendly fire' incident, she was active 2 rounds out of 12 or 14 (something like that). So by that logic she deserves 1/6 or 1/7 of the reward that Talus or Dylan or any others would receive.

And that's it. Again I try not to be critical, but well I can't help it this time. Sorry if what I'm writing above hurts you.

Play in character

Hello, I want speak up about this, DM is playing her character not herself. Kaylen had told us by MSN about the division of loot from the keep and she would have, as a person, let it go but her character reacted as she conceived her. You may not like it but it is her character. DM even knew ahead of time when she went to the drow that it might cause upset the other "characters" but went ahead and did what she felt her character would do. That Characters got upset is fine but don't bring "personal comments into it. Play in character.

Don't spoil the "game" play. There are several strong personalities in the game and that is the way it is.

So react in game play that is what she did. Elendil asked for a share it did not mean an equal share. just a share and only of those two things, let this all be kept to be worked out in the game please.

...

Oh I did (or have tried to). Aelistae's attitude is based on what Elendil has done ic.

But anyway, that was just my thoughts. If you disagree that's fine.

There are flaws, then there are exaggerations

I don't see the flaw 'Rudeness', or 'Hasty', or 'Unthoughtful' on her character sheet, and it is incredibly rude to act without thought or sense. Had she (the character) intended to be polite, introductions would have come first, then an indication of why she is present, and finally a subtle request that she be included in the division of the spoils. Not only was the latter done first and foremost, but it was also a demand.

Only kindness will receive kindness. Irritating behaviour receives tolerance, up to a point, as determined by one's patience. Our patience has long been spent long before this current incarnation.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. If one expects to be involved with the party of ANY game, meaning to be a considered as one of the allies, entitled to their share of the spoils, or whatever, then one should NOT make a character that no one wants to deal with.

.

well my thought on this whole thing is that w/e the dm says goes, and that the arguing should cease when he speaks

Don't wish, do

If you really want it to end, take responsibility for your character's actions and find a way to make amends. That is every player's duty, for any character: to take responsibility for their actions rather than stating excuses. So they have this or that flaw, well, who gave it to them in the first place? The player!

Even those who have pride will humble themselves when they have made a critical error.

If you're going to give up on the character's ability to make amends, then you might as well have them commit suicide so that you can make a new one.

*sigh*

So the big ones got shot at. Big f-ing deal. Ginafae and Reralae have a point here. Maybe a fireball stopped the goblins from closing the gate, and maybe an arrow knocked Bolikar from the battlements. Atharam's party sacked a camp, held a gate (And was very nearly killed several times), and Atharam rammed Bolikar to the ground where he was actually within lethal range of a weapon wielded by the giant. Bolikar just about killed Hawkrill's horse. Yet receiving a reward is the least important thing here. Sure, Atharam is a paladin, and would be polite. We can look at this outside the rulebook box, and he could very well demand a reward that he would invest in horse barding, donations, better gear, etc. so that he might better fight for Helm. For the sake of peace, its better to negotiate than demand, and like Reralae said, kindness is met with kindness.

Want reward? Tch. Fine. Take mine. But for the love of god, just quit this childish bickering.

Back to the game

Again DM and I knew just after Kaelyn's latest post that we were not going to get any reward form the loot from the keep, but to act on that "out of game" knowledge would be METAGAMING.

Elendil's comments were made to Bartholomew. in character. in the game. Bartholomew can explain things to Elendil. All the other responses need to be in character and belong in the game and not in Q/A.

Please, this is a game a very very good game, just let the game continue and try not to take sides, blow things out of proportions which is being done and get things all divided. over one comment not even made in other PC's hearing. Just play the game, please without attacks on characters out of game.

Oh?

It's metagaming to presume that the elves were organized enough to inform Elendil of her reward prior to the mission?

Reward

No, there was no offer of reward or payment, Elendil agreed to gather the information about the Goblins in the south. In this case its was elf helping elf, her flaws can be positive at times.

Reralae, why are you continuing this, give us all a break, talk to Kaelyn.

Postage

I'll have Bart answer and an update carry everything on... apparently I've a slew of Pm's and a bunch of q/a to read regarding this but here's the deal.

Conflict between character's in natural. The basis and perceptions of the connotations and motivations behind those In Game conflicts are a Moot point really.

If I've ever felt there was metagaming, I've contacted players directly, and I've already discussed with certain people the reasonings behind why I've done what I've done or said what I've said.

That being said. And seeing as despite out of Character conversation or suggestions 'sticking to the character' has brought forth more in game conflict. We'll handle this in game.

Hopefully come morning I'll have Bartholomew and or the Queen Monarch herself settle this dispute once and for all.

Brianna. Your concerns about why you would still be at the stronghold a week later are noted, as is your response to Fate's gift as you pm'ed me. But Fate did not 'give' it to you directly. He merely left it right next to you while you slept one eve as he slipped away.

As I told Elendil, (and explained I would post further to convey it on an in game basis) A Messenger from the Wealdath Elven Council would be dispatched to collect your 'report' soon after news of Bolikar's defeat reached their inquisitive ears.
I've discussed 'loot and rewards' till I was blue in the face... And that's pretty hard to do since I'm over the computer lol... So for now let us leave any and all mentioning of it out of this thread. Know that it's being handled, and will be directly responded to on an In game finalized level as soon as possible.

I'll not allow something so trivial as who deserves what reward to tear apart one of the inn's most active and dare I say it popular games. You're all valuable in your own ways, and I would like to see this resolved in a courteous manner.

Again, let's let it drop from our minds for the time being, and take a step back just to remember the fun we're having.

Papa Smurf will take care of things soon
