Reference
We are getting to a point where the "Lucius Newberry" will be referenced. This was brought up by Kora back on the comet so I am "re-printing" here for your reference. Better than everyone searching through our story.
Kora had been separated from her unit during the war and needed to find her way back to base. She happened across a group of soldier clustered around a transport called Lucius Newberry. She hooked up with them because they were pulling out as soon as they loaded up the transport with crates. She offered to help for a lift to base. The commanding officer, one Colonel Maddoc was more than willing to take her on. There were lots of crates and they were all very heavy.
Sergeant Sam Hawkes and Lt. Kombes greeted her kindly. Sam joked with her about her call name but didn’t question her about what her unit was or her task there. They supervised the 20 men in the unit but also helped out. Those were heavy crates, really heavy and there were so many that the cargo bay was full by the time they finished.
Maddoc never raised a hand to help. He just watched them, along with this red-haired woman that was clinging to his side. kora never did get a good look at the woman, but she was hanging tight to Maddoc like a second shirt.
Then the shelling began at a distance. The Alliance was moving towards their position. The men moved to the ship but the Colonel ordered them to hold their positions until he could inspect the hold.
Every instinct in Kora’s gut told her something was wrong, and it was confirmed when the cargo bay doors closed with a slam and Lucius Newberry lifted off into the sky, leaving all the men behind. Maddoc had betrayed them, but for what? Some red haired harlot and a bunch of crates?
Boxed in when the shelling hit, the unit began to take losses immediately. Kora and Sam scourged across the battlefield to find enough parts to make a transmitter. An aerial was needed though to boost the signal. Kombes found some spools of wired and led it behind him to hook it up to the tower where an alliance attack skiff had crashed. Use the hull as the aerial – great idea.
But there was one surviving member of the skiff crew who shot Kombes as he ran.
Kombes staggered and with his last strength, flung himself on the skiff, using his body and the blood to connect the hull to the wire.
Kora got a signal out and her unit was able to save her, Sam Hawkes and 5 other men - all the others died. No one knew what was inside those crates or why they were betrayed.

Ash Rides Again.......
I've been pulling stuff together from past story and Asher's profile for a post so I hope to have one done tonight. I actually found a PDF of the weapons used in Firefly and copied them in to my profile page for Asher, helps me visualize his toys and how he might handle them. Also found a picture of the shuttle but was hoping to find an interior view. These are helping me stage Asher so I can move him forward.
I've found that Blamm's concept fits how I see Ash. Stuff I thought to write I found that he had already touched on, kind of spooky to me but it should help keep Asher's character in line with history. This time away from the crew, although short, may affect him. Home sick upon home sick. New longing to for Ezra, stronger ties to the Roc's old crew and Trish. And how will he react to someone else in his room. Pushed one more peg down the pecking order? Or maybe even two? After all he's just a "Kid"!
Well it's still mostly bouncing around in my head and I need to get on paper. Between this and C. Rautenburg I've got a challenge.
So just wanted ya'll to know I'm not ignoring the chance to join the game, just a touch behind.

Ashyson?
Ok, the first post is up. I'll try to do better to stay with the story line, but I was just trying to make Asher mine. There could have been some more but it was getting late and I started to fuzz out. I'm feeling a bit of a plot twist that never came out much before. I feel Ash has a much greater hatred toward Alliance Pilots. The relationship between him and Sam has been close to a brother thing, but I see Ash having a real issue if he ever finds out Sam was an Alliance pilot. I think this time planet-side will stir those memories of his mother and brothers being vaporized in his home. I'm seeing him being more vocal. I think Wyatt will see it and Sam is going feel it. The Kid will be sweet, but I see this being his dark side. Well that's just a feeling now, it may change, but it may not.

The post was nice thus far! Welcome to the game officially. Looking forward to seeing how he deals with Luke.

No doubt!
Nice post, Ody... and, since Ash is your character, now, you take him where you want to. You read the "thus far" relationship between Sam and Ash correctly, as well... Kind of a brotherly thing. *nods*
As to Ash finding out who and what Sam once was... wellll... ain't too many folk in the Verse as're privy ta that li'l nugget, puhn yoh, an' Sam don' figger on lettin' no others find out... That's th' whole point o' bein' Sam, after all...

And Away We Go.......
Yep, yep I see the brother relationship not changing. it's just that background tension. Just movie stuff.
BTW would Asher know that Luke shot Chad in the back? They brought back the body but was that made common knowledge or is that an area I can run wild. It could lead to some interesting feelings. Why kill a guy when you can just knock him down by shooting him in leg.
I'm still stumbling a bit but I've got some ideas to try, so stay tuned. Most of you are getting use to my insecurity in my writing, you see it in my Q&A's as I'm groping for direction. But I'm inspired by all of you and I will "Blindly Go Where No One Has Gone Before", was that right?

Um...that's Star Trek.
A more proper statement might have been: They can't take the sky from me."
I'm so looking forward to seeing the family back together. Post people! Post!

En route
Ended up getting sick yesterday and came home and went to bed instead of finishing my posts. Took the day off today... going to the doc this morning and, thereafter, will curl up on the couch with the laptop and finish up...

Hold on
I need to see a doctor's note before I can accept that excuse. Have a leather clad nurse bring it to my place immediately.

A quick run to the Castle........
Eol, run over to Castle Rautenberg and "Doc" Stewart will write you a note!
You'll need to find the nurse yourself.

Ummm - jumping ahead?
Is there a reason we are rushing back to Bridget just because she says to? I thought only Sam was dancing to her tune (sorry, Eol, couldn't resist).
I haven't even finished the convo with Bridget yet, but i realize I have been travelling aand so have been too quiet.
Questions for DM:
Did I get a code from Benny (or Grandfather) for the key? Is that something Bowman could find within the data in the key itself?
If Bridget says the blockade is no longer needed because the key's been found...how the heck would the Alliance know? Is she playing everyone on this?
How long to Lullabelle? If Bridget tells us not to go, I'm pretty sure it would be a good idea to go...Sam and Kora may have more info, and they would likely be more than happy to join us on a little revenge. Having more peeps on our team than Bridget expects would be an advantage

answers for the honey

No. He gave no code or even mentioned a code.

Good question. How far is here influence? But you really don't know. She is certainly suggesting that she has the power to make the blockade go away.

Less than a day to the comet. You can always send them a wave as well if getting to Frisco fast is your agenda.

I may have...
... done a bit of the "Ass-U-Me" business, myself, I think, where the "rushing back to Bridget" business is concerned.
What with my recent flakiness I was trying to get the post cranked out without having to go back and forth too much and might have misinterpreted a thing or two along the lines. If i need to edit anything, just say the word.
And, Vanadia, dear, you never have to apologize for that kind of thing... Takes a lot more than that to get me offended, don'cha know... I was actually wondering if Sam might not still be a bit under the influence of the sultry schoolmarm but, I figured that, having overheard the wave between her and Willow that any "fuzzy illusions" he might've had at least started to get dispelled...

Wyatt
Wyatt wants to give her very little time to set anything further up. Maybe even arrive before she expects it, but your logic makes sense and she's already likely set up. So maybe caution is better and sending a wave to Lullaby isn't a bad idea.

Not sure...
...but Sam might be able to throw some "covert" skill into that wave and maybe "secure it" just in case anyone's tryin' to listen' in or otherwise monitorin' comms?
