*eyes Arien's armor curiously...*

*...wondering if it's shiny enough to bank-shot a fireball.*

Just kidding, of course...

I think I've got my plan of attack figured out, too, but a map would help a bit.

Ok Slightly confused

I have read the game posts so far and am slightly confused.
Raven in his post states that Arien charges yet Olan has not posted as such. And if he does charge which direction is he charging in??. My plan is simple really per Al's map I assume that the circles are boulders or rocks rt. Talas seems to be closet to the Angkeg to the east so using the combined size of he, himself and his extra large warhorse I say I bullrush the one to the East and open a hole for the rest of you to gain the trees with the kids. Yet Al tells me I am closer to the one to the south any thoughts my bold friends.

charge it is...

Nah, Arien is charging, Al alluded to that in his post (he and I had emailed beforehand).

I will post, however.

Strategy?

Tann, I had considered hitting Talas with a jump spell at one point (seeing as he's the closest steel-slinger to Jal ATM)... It might be cool to see the big guy jumping around like one of those grasshopper dudes! Other than that, I'm thinking; "Geez, i hope this color spray freaks that ankheg behind me out long enough, at least, that i don't get munched!"

Well

Arien charges in pretty well all combat, so I think Raven was making an assumption.

The circles are trees, not boulders. Sorry, I know it is a crude and rude map.

A word of caution to your plan. Now I am the DM, reportedly evil although I deny the allegiations, so you don't have to take my advice here:

Only two of you are on horses (Talas and Arien). Two other horses are effectively removed from the party now that you are under attack (Dapple and Char's). I will have to check the sheets but unless Jals', Adrian, and Kilgrim's mounts are war trained, they are freaking out about now. You may have a hard time getting pass the Ankheg to run east.

Furthermore, you have four (so far) highly mobile enemies with missile weapons, that look like mantis and dropped in out of the sky. They can probably jump faster than you run.

The Boys are not combat trained and will be freaking out soon (very soon - like now).

btw - Bullrush is a 3e move, not 2e

Now I hate to say never but I would say there are a lot of challenges to face in running.

How about vertically?

How high are those cliffs to the east, I wonder?

Details!!!

You mean the cliffs to the west with the rest of the thri-Kreen army, all cheering "Mantis! Mantis! Go Team Go!"?

About 40 to 60 feet high. Not sheer or anything. Think the cliffs on the Plains of Abraham in Quebec City.

What is with all the requests for details? What happened to the go old days of "hey, we're wandering monsters! Let's fight!"?

Spell?

Whoops. Forgot to mention that, did I know? Invisibility to Animals would be what he's aiming for, thank you.

EDIT: Nope, didn't forget. Not really... well sort of. Kinda. But if you carefully read the last line, you might get an indication of the spell.

As for old Grumpy, he certainly ain't combat trained. As far as Kilgim is concerned, the animal is too stupid and stubborn to be trained in anything and least of all manners.

V is staying, live with it

Due to popular demand (mostly my wife) and the fact that it is logistically impossible for me to make a lasagna tonight, I will try to get the combat round under way before the weekend. Cathy has even volunteered to rake leaves tonight so I do not have to, and can devote myself to dice rolling.

I have a very special wife, you do realize that.
