Whether

We find a peaceful resolution or end their marauding permanently is fine with me.

we'll see

I'm with Bezmir, I don't mind not killing them, I just have a feeling worshipers of an evil God won't let us slide by unharmed...

talking

Cool thanks, got it back to you. For me it was just coincidence: time freed up today. . Looking forward to seeing how we are doing.

One small note we should elect a leader: a lot of us have high charisma and/or are eloquent but we should have only one speaker. More will reveal discord and weakness within the group. I suppose I'm planning outside of the game (not really allowed) these are merely side thoughts I always respect being true to a character and the situation over just doing what's the smartest or what we would necessarily do. My two cents.

Okay, a comment.

Dragonblood, the point(s) you bring up about one leader, one speaker are not really planning outside the game (at least not as I see it).

In a table-top game, while I was describing the two or three days of travel, the players vould have discussed that very thing while I was informing them of the days travels. It is no more than what the characters might discuss at different times as they traveled on the road. Points maide to each other here and there ...

I'll let you know when you're out of bounds ...

suggestion

I suggest everyone slow down a bit on the posting through this patch. For those of you who haven't DMed a game online before, it can get confusing if several people interact with the same NPCs before hearing their response.

My suggestion: If someone asks something of an NPC - don't post any other interactions about that until the DM gets a chance to act.

Likely this is going to come down to initiative, with whoever wins acting first. So I could win initiative, prepare my spell, then either of the two questions (stand down or is there a toll) will go off. It makes for a slower game, but NPC conversation should be treated as battle and made with words like "I attempt" or "I try to" just like any other fight.

Oh, and remember not to assume that just because one of us posts something it doesn't mean our character actually does that. Wyrmy could easily say that my prepared spell doesn't go off, or that Gunky's tongue doesn't let him talk (because of some magic effect we might or might not know about). So just keep that in mind when we get into these back and forth efforts with each other during encounter scenarios.

And I'm guilty of it too, I know

Of course anything goes in PC-to-PC banter

As for leader...

I think the person who's best in combat should be the leader...

With nothing but fairness in mind, of course

Well, it was worth a shot... but I believe you are correct Dragonblood, we could use a leader.

Good point, Admiral

Thanks. Good information for me as well.

Not new as a DM, but new as a DM in THIS format. I wasn't expecting the flurry of posts so quickly after my update. Now I know better and will have to be "on top of things" sooner for responses.

What's done is done, though and I think I can cover all questions asked in my update.

One thing to note though, in keeping with what Admiral suggested. Remember tht all this is taking place in just a matter of minutes, so a mention that a character didn't gt a response to a question is kinda pre-supposing a refusal. Until an update is posted, it's best to assume that the question was JUST asked and any response is nearly immediate (represented by short "sequential backposts). An example is in my next update. Hope it works ...

My bad

I know I've been posting a lot.

I think I got a little excited for my first rules based game to take off.

getting the hang of it

As far as I know Bez, all of your posts have been fine, i think it was some of the accidentally overlapping posting. We're a fledgling party its gonna take awhile for everything to fall into place as it would within the reality of the game.

that's not t say that we should go making it tough on Wyrmy.

assumptions

Well if a player posts after another and throws out more questions it is my assumption that they were not waiting for an answer as they saw that one had already been answered. Most games I have played in the non-combat stuff goes in post order; whoever posts first acts first. Only in actual combat does initiative come into play. Will adjust if that is not the method here.

As for a leader, we do need one but unless the heir steps up and takes charge or at least appoints someone to be a spokesperson we will continue to struggle and be unorganized as characters; players might work together but not the characters.

Okay, and true, but

Bez, you're doing fine for your "first time out". keep it up, we'll help.

KoD, you are correct in one aspect, but one could also look at the question as being asked in response to the answer of a previous question (or regardless of any answer) ...

The latter viewpoint is how I will usually handle situations like the current one, but what has happened is not a bad thing, and not beyondd my experience (heh-heh) ...

A leader? Too late for that determination in this encounter, but it's beiung handled. In 6 more days (real0time), we'll all know what to do.

For now, we're all cool. Update coming ...

In my opinion?

We're killing them all and letting the gods sort them out. That's what.
