Just wondering
I know I vanished and all, just wondering what happened to my character. It's nice to be back.

You're still alive :)
Just been REALLY quiet...but since we haven't arrived at the danger zone yet (or, actually, just arrived now, with latest post)you really haven't missed anything.

I was a little surprised that the Looey didn't plan our entrance into the ARF...but I guess I can say something in my post. Will see if I can get it done before I logon to my office network, otherwise later today.
Read Brom's post and i see that he did plan the entrance...my bad...not drinking more than one cup of coffee is affecting me, lol

huh
I was personally a bit surprised that you guys are going in as two fire teams... though really, it does make sense. I guess I hadn't considered that possibility (for some reason).

Pretty standard
Seemed to be a pretty standard practice for a special forces team. They figure they're capable enough to handle anything that comes their way. After all, that's what the government trained them for, right?

gotcha...
True, that!
Hehe... if nothing is wrong (except communications being down), I can imagine that the scientists will be surprised to have specops bursting in from opposite ends of the compound, but not checking the front door.
Post coming shortly.

@ taller
Yeah, I guess that would be a pretty boring game, huh? "Comms are down. We fix 'em. Mission accomplished."

okay
A few things to note:
Everyone but Sergeant Lee suffered at least some cold damage due to the trek through the frozen wastes (yay for him, three saves in a row!).
Health:
LT Kernan: mild cold damage
PFC Pearson: moderate cold damage
WO Blake: minimal cold damage
CPL Hatherford: moderate cold damage
CPL Hart: moderate cold damage
SSG Kane: moderate cold damage
CPL Johannsen: moderate cold damage
SGT Lee: warm and toasty
Your explorations thus far have taken the exact same amount of time. I will endeavor to keep everyone on the same time frame throughout the mission; if something happens and one team requires more posts to play out their time, the other team will just need to be patient.
I am assuming that everyone, save Hatherford, is using their primary weaon right now (sniper rifle in close quarters is foolish, thus I'm assuming he has his pistol readied until cause for the sniper makes itself known).
Thanks for the marching order, that can be critical. Other than that... post!

Warm and toasty...
Well yaa for Sgt Lee.
Probably something to do with his GI Issue ECWCS cold weather thermal underwear... has to be at least +2 to saves right?

FYI: fatigue
Understand, folks, that fatigue is serious. As long as you are fatigued, your strength and dexterity suffer, and you cannot run or charge.
Cold damange can only be recovered by rest. Rest will eliminate fatigue, as well.

As for two teams going in, I guess it has to do with that old adage, divide and conquer.
Hmmm, doesn't that work for both sides in a conflict.

Fatigue...
Is that a REAL possibility though? Rest, I mean. Can we really "take five" and get rid of the fatigue?
A couple questions:
How long, game time, would one need to rest in order to get rid of the "cold fatigue"?
What would this rest look like?
Would the army supply their troops with some sort of standard "get-rid-of-fatigue" pill/ drug/ drink? I don't know, like, gatoraide? red bull?
In DnD, you'd just take a little sleepy-sleep... but it seems unrealistic in this game? Yes?
So how do we get rid of it?
If nothing else, you (Olan) have made it abundantly clear that hanging out outside for ANY amount of time is a bad and, possibility, deadly idea... thanks.
It does make me laugh that "strapping farm-boy" has a harder time shaking off the chills than "goth-chicky."

Couple more questions...
Regarding damage: When should we get worried? What's the increments, and what do they mean? Can Denes suffer multiple moderate damages? Or is your system telling us how much total damage we've taken. i.e. Minimal = 85-95% Health, Mild = 70-85% Health, Moderate = 55-70% Health, etc, etc.
Regarding Rank & File/ Chain on Command: I'm not military expert, and I suspect most of us aren't, so I feel okay. But is it okay if Denes asks the Lieutenant questions? (i.e. "Do you want us to do a sweep of the room, sir?") Is chit-chat allowed as we move?
Which brings me to my last piece, regaring Equipment/ Gear: Can you (Olan) describe what we're wearing? What's protecting us from the cold? Protecting our face, our hands, our feet, etc? Also, how do we communicate with one another? How do we communicate with the other fire team? Hand sets? Head sets?
Thanks so much!

Well this "chicky" has the same cold damage as you do, moderate. Does it make sense to her background? No! She is a big girl who is a skier and frequenlt vacations in her parent birth country Norway. By the way Size does made a difference regardong heat loss.
But what the hey, the dice rolled badly for us. Now to my knowledge of cold, the quick move in should not have been so damaging, as to make two con rolls. Unless we covered a lot of distance and it took us over 15 minutes to get inside. The time detail was not indicated.
Do we have handwarmer and other kidney and pocket warmers.
