Well now
If we're talking of taking over a NPC in Security I would like to run Ensign Blackmon; we have some things in common.
I can work this weekend on 'fleshing' her out if that is alright? Am I allowed to change anything on her?
I'll look at the other depts; I might like one or two others to run.
If that is what we are doing?

Sounds good, I'm not married to her.
Go to town.

Post and Blackmon
Post up. I plan to post something later, when she gets off shift in sickbay (1900 hrs); I figure she can go to the Brig and be allowed to examine PO Crane for the start of her confinement/restricted diet as the orders should be processed by then.
I won't have much to do this weekend after Thursday so I will work on Ensign Blackmon's character. I might change her appearance if that's alright? GM/XO, is that allowed at this point?

Top 5? I wanna be #1! ;)
Boo Boo - I figure that Dana should have her access to Lauren within 10-15 minutes following her convo with Tochi, so she should be good to visit the brig by 1500.
As far as Blackmon goes, feel free to make whatever updates you deem appropriate. She was briefly played as a PC by Red Sector A and I believe she looked a bit like Evangeline Lilly a la the Ant Man movie. That said, she hasn't really been described much in post or beyond the roster entry, so free reign as far as I'm concerned.
Aaaand, yeah, Tochi's well aware of how quickly scuttlebutt travels through our tiny little ship... His irritation is more likely attributable to a looooooong day and very little sleep as opposed to the word spreading as quickly as it did.

a couple of things...
Darnit, Toporov keeps calling to me to post for him...
Regarding the use of the term "Mister" (this is briefly mentioned in post #3, page 1, of this Q&A):
While Chief Cook can obviously feel any way that she wants to feel, I take issue with the idea that "Mister" is an antiquated or sexist term. To the contrary, there are two ideas in play here.
1) this game is set in a slightly more "military flavored" Trek universe than you might see in the television shows.
2) the term "mister" is absolutely ubiquitous, and on board a vessel, is pretty much detached completely from gender.
Think about it. In the Federation, there are many species - let alone those in the known universe that are not part of the Federation. Many of those would logically have vastly different views on gender than would humans; some societies would be matriarchal, some would be gender-neutral, some would be genderless, some have multiple genders.
Note that we have a Rigellian in Security - "his" gender is "exomale"; Rigellians actually have four genders.
The use of both "mister" and "miss" would lead to a far greater chance of causing personal offense if used incorrectly. And what do you call a being that has no gender? Or one that has a gender that does not map to one of the two binary settings that humanity defaults to? A term like "sentient" seems awfully artificial. "Sentient Cook, report to Sickbay". C'mon.
So the idea is that "mister" is a term that already existed in the English language, which is what is spoken in Starfleet. It has evolved, at least in military use, as a generic title for a person. Yes, "mister" and "miss" still have technical definitions that are gender-based, but aboard a ship, those are secondary definitions.
As a Chief, Cook would have been in Starfleet for well over a decade; this would be so utterly ingrained that I doubt she even hears the word. Again, play her like you want, but know that the term is truly gender neutral aboard a twenty-fourth century Federation vessel.
Regarding Ensign Blackmon - as Eol pointed out, she was a PC super briefly, but little was written about her; I'm fine if you edit pretty much anything about her.

Sorry
Olan,
I'm sorry if I have offended you with my in character comments regarding the ‘Mister' thing.
I completely understand what you are saying; I have experienced this when I was in the Navy, and frankly I didn't agree with it then either.
I am just passing on my own personal feelings regarding the Mister issue to my character, but I don't mean to offend you in any way. Please forgive me!
Now, I will continue to play Chief Cook as such, it is the way it is but she still has her beliefs as well. Yes, she has been in Service for a while, but when you feel strongly about something, time doesn't always make it get any easier to take. I hope you can understand and make allowances, but she would never say anything to any officer who did it to her. She knows the tradition and tolerates it, much like I did back in the day.
So I hope no hard feelings? I am not doing it to aggravate anyone, least of all you, Sir!
Now, on to Ensign Blackmon; I don't plan to change much, as their isn't much to change apparently, but maybe her appearance. I do like Evangeline Lilly, but I have other pics in mind for her.

Preferences
I imagine it also comes down to CO's and command style, some may care what your preference is others might not. Kind of like how Janeway prefers just Captain or Ma'am in a Crunch. One thing I've been curious about is Chief Petty Officers are refered to as Chief, is it okay to refer to a Senior Chief Petty officer as just Chief or should one call them Senior Chief? If the later is correct that awkward af to say.

offended?
I'm not at all offended. I think that you may be missing the point of a society that includes other species, but really.. it's a tiny detail. Play like you want.
A senior chief petty officer is "senior chief". A master chief petty officer is "master chief". Awkward, perhaps, but it's the way that it is.

Good
I thought I might have offended you because it seemed you might be taking it personally. I'm glad to see that you're not.
I understand your explanation, and just so you know, Cook is the only character of mine that will feel that way. I'm working on 'fleshing out' Ensign Blackmon and should have most of it done this weekend. Don't have much else to do this weekend really. Already have a pic up.

Blackmon..........
The picture was just one I found earlier. As I was working to flesh out the Security staff I had in mind she was the senior of the group under Reid. For me she was very much trusted, skilled and third in command of the Security section.
BTW..
Sorry for being a bit on the quiet side. Now that we have moved on a bit I'll get John back in action. He had over extended himself working too many shifts in a row so Berk could attend his new duties, the dinner and the mast. The bridge staffing is a bit out of order from the original setup by Olan but it should be rolling back now.
I had you sent my spreadsheet of the duty roster and shift assignments so that is what I use to figure when John in duty and who is available to interact with. It should have included the Secure section and I plugged in the Medical as posted by Olan.
After coming off that Gamma shift in the command chair he had the interlude with the new nurse but he then slept for a bit. I'll get him back in the swing soon.

Pic
Actually Ody, there was no picture there for Ensign Blackmon; that pic is one I found and posted for her.
Yeah I got the duty roster you sent me, I'll have to look it over again and see when she is on Bridge duty. My goal this weekend is to finish up her character.

Pic and things
That's a good pic Ody, but I think I'll stick with the one I found; it's more along the line of what I have in mind for Ensign Blackmon.
You're welcome, but mine wasn't much of a service really, one 4 yr term as a Yeoman on a supply ship. It helped pay for college.

Ensign Blackmon
I think I'm done with her sheet. Now to see what shift she is on and when she goes on duty?
