Olan's thoughts for this strip:
Any fan of horror movies knows full well that when the protagonists split up, something bad is going to befall one or more of them. So naturally, a sadistic DM like Steve (or myself) gets great pleasure when the adventuring party decides to do just that.
I mean, really... they are simply *asking* for it!
Side note: the art of this strip is my new favorite to date.

Script for this strip:Ladan: "This place is still consecrated. Solanis will help guard our rest."
Faustus: "This is farther than I'd like to be from the furnace, but it should be defensible."
Jhim: "Why not just sleep near the furnace?"
Dalana: "Because the cellar is too cramped for us to properly fight in, and there is no escape route."
Jhim: "Ah, that makes sense."
Aranion: "I will take the first watch."
Faustus: "I will go and stoke the fire. If I am not back in fifteen minutes, assume the worst."
Rich: "My hero!"
Tim: "You're so big and strong!"
Ray: "Yeah, well, the casters have to rest or we're toast... and we have to keep the fire burning, or we're toast. Don't worry, my guy is a knight, not a paladin - he'll retreat if need be."
Steve (narrator): "Just as Faustus finishes tossing the coal into the fire, he hears a heavy tread on the stairway."
Ray: "Okay, my guy will hide against the wall and let whatever is out there come in. Hopefully, it won't notice him, so Faustus can attack from behind - or retreat, if he has to."
Steve (narrator): "A tall, shadowy figure in a monk's habit passes through the doorway. As you step from your hiding place, it whirls to face you."
Steve (narrator): "This is no mere skeleton."
