"O Steve, Live Forever"

The DM demands a sacrifice... of Doritos!

Also, while the "wall of text" absolutely exists here, we just joked about it in the alt text a couple of strips ago. It's not like we believe in beating stale jokes to death or something.

Olan's thoughts for this strip:
Mocking the DM is one thing, but don't take it too far - and be sure to at least pretend to listen to the descriptive text he's come up with for your adventure. It warms his heart to feel like you care... and it keeps him from taking out his irritation on you with monsters you cannot hurt, or with traps you cannot detect.

Script for this strip:
Steve: "The water damage is not so bad here, though most of the parchments appear to be ledgers or religious texts. Two are of interest, however.

One is a log of books checked out by Abbot Alluzin - interestingly, many of the books appear to be occult in nature. The other is a prayer written by the librarian."

Ray: "Gimme your d6's, Brad. Let's see how high I can stack them while Steve drones on."
Brad: "We have to listen to another long-winded letter?"
Steve: "Nope, you don't. It's probably not important, anyway."

Amy: "Hush, guys! It might be a useful clue!"

Ray: "What, like "ice monster doesn't like fire"? We could probably figure that out on our own."

Tim: "Fools! For it is written: Lo, anger not thy DM, for thine character is squishy and subject to his righteous wrath!"

Rich (mock serious): "Amen."

Brad: "He's probably right."
Ray: "Er... sorry, Steve. Please continue."
Steve: "Why, thank you."

Letter contents:
Oh lord Solanis, thou who watches over the lands of men with thine golden countenance. Look in mercy upon our accursed monastery in this, our hour of need! For we are beset by a nameless evil against which there seems no defense. It comes at the stroke of midnight and kills without discrimination. Only four of us remain now. Only brother abbot Atarus still works feverishly on a solution. I, lord Solanis, put my fate in your hands and repent my sins. I ren -
