Why hello there...
Varis raised a hand to his head. He was dizzy, nothing more. He was wearing some form of overrobe...silk. Quite nice, actually, and over the clothes he was wearing before, though someone had relieved him of the rest of his armor and effects.
He put a hand on the bed to steady himself as he swung his legs over, standing even as he swayed somewhat, steadying himself with the bed.
'I'd better get out there as soon as possible. Thomas gets into trouble when I'm not there, and DHarem has a tendency to be a bit confrontational. I wouldn't put it past those two and Bon to be getting into some sort of trouble, not to mention the mage...' Varis though to himself, determinedly, yet quickly, slipping the loose robe over his head, breathing steadily. Around the room there were a mere five other beds, all empty...it seemed the clinic didn't like to shove many people together. A comforting idea.
The bard smiled, looking the nurse that stood nearby in the eyes, smiling pleasantly - even charmingly.
"Excuse me, but could you please tell me where the Councillor of Magic is?"

The nurse raised an eyebrow, "You're not in a very good state so I wouldn't recommend leaving the clinic... however you'll probably disregard my advice, so I'll let you go ahead," she smiled.
"He's probably still on the main square in the aftermath of today's events. It'll take a long time to clear this mess up."
That said, the bells struck five times, and what the nurse had been about to add was drowned out.

This time it wasn't DHarem's Fault!
“Karrain?” DHarem said as the mage turned and left without a word and headed back into the guard house looking a might upset. The Seeker looked at Thomas and sighed, he weighed his options for a moment and then hauled Thomas over to a street vendors stall.
“HEY!” the vendor said as he sat the unconscious Thomas down behind the vendors shop out of sight, “you can’t put him here.”
The Seeker sat the large sack down next to Thomas and turning to the Vendor he dug into his tunic and dragged out an Electrum and tossed it to the vendor.
“Watch him for a few moments,” he said as he turned to head back, “If you do I will see you get more for your troubles. Don’t let anything happen to him or his belongings”
Rounding the corner, the Seeker gripped his staff tightly in one hand, he had thought this was resolved but here they were again. Things might have to end badly with this Guard Captain, he would pray to Lord Verona later for guidance. Right now he feared the Mage might need his assistance; he seems as adept at getting into trouble as DHarem. He smiled slightly as he thought of how Varis would laugh at the thought of another troublemaker in the group, well maybe he wouldn’t laugh, cry would be more his reaction.
(Ok sorry for my confusion earlier. I thought Karrain hadn’t left with DHarem and Thomas and just went to confront the Captain. I reread everything and saw it was I that was confused. Hopefully I have gotten things back on track. I stopped here in my posting as I don’t think DHarem would have had time to do all that and still get back into the guard house before the action started. )

Hmmm...I think there might be a hearing problem somewhere, here...
Varis winced at the heavy tolling of the bell. 5 strikes...it was getting late. The sun would have set at least an hour ago...
Recovering from the noise, Varis reassembled his perfect smile, bowing his thanks to the nurse.
"Ah, fair lady; you know me too well. However...I believe you must have misheard my question, or else I am otherwise confused as to your reply. I spoke of the councillor for Magic, if you recall. An'Inglefar by name...surely he has been given medical attention?" Varis asked politely, hiding his fear behind a friendly mask. What if he had failed? What if she meant that the councillor for Magic's body was still in the courtyard? Varis had felt a heartbeat before he blacked out, he was sure...

The nurse laughed, "Oh, excuse me, I misheard. You'd be unsurprised as to the effects of the clock tower on my hearing," she apologised with a grin.
"He's in the next-door ward, perfectly stable. He'll take a while to recover but he's fine. Why do you ask?"

It's fightin' time. Again.
The guard captain seemed a little surprised at the presence of Karrain, but quickly got back to his senses.
"Jailbreak?" he shrugged, "If it should be known, I didn't expect that he be the assassin here, at least not intentionally. But no matter."
He strode over to his desk, ignoring the three unconscious bodies, and taking the sheathed sword in hand. "A duel indeed. What conditions do you have?"

May the best man win...that's me
Karrain smiles, relaxing slightly.
"If it is acceptable to you we shall duel to the standards of Old Ethros, each of us designate a Second to ensure that no foul play comes to pass, we then fight until first blood or until another is unable to continue physically or mentally. We may at any time agree to a stalemate or back down."
Stepping back and scanning the room the Sacrelarch waited, hoping to pick up anything untoward that the Captain might turn against him.

He may be a bit of a prat... but at least he's honourable.
The captain nodded, "I agree totally on the conditions. but would you prefer we duel elsewhere? This is my terrain, and you may be on the lookout for traps or tricks. The backyard of the guardpost has a training area that is empty save some archery targets."

Talk talk talk
DHarem comes rushing back into the back of the guard house where the Captain's office is located and finds Karrain and the Captain apparently squaring off against each other.
He over hears the last words of the Captain and pulls up next to Karrain and raises an eyebrow questioningly.
"So what is going on here?" he asked them both though he looks at Karrain.
He glances at the stirring guards who are starting to come around on the floor and then glances sheepishly at the Captain.
"I'm sorry about that," he said with a slight grin, "two to 1 or 6 to 1, they should know better than to accost a Seeker. There is no permanent damage, except maybe to their pride."

Oh crap...
Varis breathed out an inaudible sigh, grateful for the reassurance as his doubts fell away. He had no reason to even suggest the nurse may not be anything but perfectly honest, after all. He gave another particular grin Bard's tend to be known for to the nurse.
"Ah, I was hired to ensure his survival by a friend, so it is good to hear he is alright. I shall not disturb his rest, but could you please point me towards the nearest exit as well as my equipment? I fear what may have happened to some acquantances of mine in my absence."
Varis' face did not betray the thought, but he mentally kicked himself. Hard. The majority of his belongings, many quite valuable, may still have been in the chest he placed in the courtyard they were in before. He just hoped DHarem or Bon had assured it's safety...

Varis, then DHarem replies:
The nurse smiled, "Perfectly understandable, sir. A tall, cloaked man with a bow brought them in for you, and he is still here, I think. Would you like me to let him in or do you prefer to go talk to him?"
--------------------
"I'm sorry about that, two to 1 or 6 to 1, they should know better than to accost a Seeker. There is no permanent damage, except maybe to their pride."
"Understandable. You hear that, you should fight better," he added with a perfectly innocent grin.
That made a change from the almost devilish smirks of before.
"Might I enquire as to where you left Aaron and Leonard? I hope you didn't leave them in too much of a mess..."

Choices
DHarem raised an eyebrow at the Guard Captain’s question; he looked around at the guards as they stirred back to consciousness.
“I’m sorry I didn’t have a chance to ask their names,” he said with a faint grin, “while they were trying to take my head off.”
He didn’t understand the Captain’s question as his battle with the guards happened here and all of the guards should be in this room unless they recovered while he was gone and had left.
He looked to Karrain waiting on and explanation of why he was here with the Captain.

Search Me
Karrain shrugs, checking the room.
"I came in just as you'd finished, as for those two missing guards I wouldn't know, when I returned the room was in the same state it is now...this appears to be a day of strange occurences."
"As for our duel, I would suggest somewhere quiet, away from the public view. I'm afraid I am new to this Tithuania, however I recall that the Old Temple was frequented by apprentice mages who wished to settle scores when I was last here."

Back in my daaaaay...
The captain took a couple of steps forward, spotting the two unconscious guards he was searching for, behind the desk.
"Ah, I didn't see them there. The Old Temple? I have never heard of such a place, would your knowledge be something to do with your... strange appearance? This is a day of strange occurences... But you are quite correct, the training yard is walled but the sky is open, and you will probably be using some quite visible magic."
A moment of contemplation, and the captain frowned, "The nobles have a duel arena specifically for private duels, seeing as they kept that tradition much more that the rest of Tithuana."

Fight another day.
DHarem listened to all the talk of duels and where they would fight and shook his head slightly; it was strange to talk about fighting in the future. The Seeker didn’t fight to fight, he fought to defend himself and others not for honor or any such high ideals.
“Ah listen,” he said slowly speaking to both the Guard Captain and Karrain, “this has been a rather tense day for everyone involved, what with the attack on the Councillors and all. If you two are not going to ‘duel’ right now and going to set the place for this ‘duel’ could you set a time say for maybe tomorrow?”
He thought it wise to regroup with the rest of the team, find out what happened with the Councillors and then if Honor needs to be addressed he would gladly ‘Second’ Karrain if he wished it, but for now they needed to find the others and sort this all out.
