thanks for the inspiration my furry friend...here's the new paragraph...
He was a giant man...one who need only cast a glance to intimidate.
Yet, there he lay in all his mishappen glory, silent, motionless. His facial features contorted by the torture his body had endured.
Tired of fighting the good fight, the lifeforce which had sustained him through many a battle was now eagerly awaiting the sweet solace of death.

We are but a spec in the great vastness of the world. Can one person change it. No. Yes. Maybe? I don't know. Definitely. The actions of a single person can cause a nation to move mountains. If one man can inspire thousands. what can a thousand men do? Are we but a reflection of history, or is history a reflection of our actions? Can we change the future? Are our lives predetermined? Is there a destiny? If we have a destiny, then is there really free choice? Or perhaps the destiny is that you merely make a choice. A choice to live or die to matter or not to be or not be... Perhaps Shakespeare said it best: "to Be or not to be" Or perhaps it was merely an understatement... People in there actions live on through the millenniums. You are not dead until you are forgotten. So perhaps our lives are more than we think. Our lives can inspire. So are we insignificant? Only if we choose to be.

New to this. Is this right?

----------- version 2.0.0 --------------
Tall, he was. One who needed only a brief meeting of the eyes to quell any resistance in most others.
Now? In view of all, he lay quiet, inert, twisted of body and limb. Only his face showed any evidence of what he had endured, and it was obviously not a pleasant experience.
That which was within him, bringing him back from the brink of death in skirmish, after battle, after war, had run its course, and could no longer summon the energies to heal, to recuperate. And so, inwardly and outwardly, he knew his place was no longer among the living.

My try.
---- aaaaaannnd, my version --------------
Standing, his appearance could be described in one word - huge. His ability to quash resistance or discussion with but a quick and meaningful look was well-known. But a giant is no longer a giant when he cannot stand. He is as pitiful as any other being.
Once formidable, he now lay broken -- of will and of person -- with the full horrors of his breaking etched into the lines of his face for any and all to see. Quiet, unmoving and, yes, pitiful, he still retained a kind of tacit greatness about him, as if it were a thin, invisible aura.
A product of what he was, and just as much a product of what he had refused to become, there was a focus within the shattered body that had reached it's limit to renew, to attract the energies or abilities necessary to rebuild tissue and mend the framework so damaged by this last encounter. It was this same focus that instilled a feeling of peace and acceptance, rather than trepidation or outright fear, of his impending demise.

Question:
5 mnonths from suggestion to first post, 5 months from first post to mine, then Utan's. If I wait a couple of days and this line goes no farther, may I post a suggestion/sample?
I really do like this! I can't believe that, with all the (latent) literary talent running around here, that there aren't more people posting here to hone their skills ...

May I try? New here,.. Interesting format for practice...
----
A giant, once ...
Now he lies in such a fashion, such a condition, as to give no evidence of his former greatness. He who once needed only a simple, fleeting gaze at someone to instantly command silence and obedience or instill outright fear is now naught more than a soon-to-be-casualty of the recent battle, slowly losing warmth as he is slowly losing coherence.
Soundless, motionless he lies, only his face indicating the severity and ferocity of that which was done to him, that which was, and is, the cause of his now-imminent death. The experience also drove from him the very will to live, or even to heal, leaving only the uncaring acceptance of the coming oblivion.
