Chapter Thirty: Getting out and letting go
Bardar’s POV
I watched the conversation going on between Scorpion and Crow. He actually signed the papers, and showed them to her. His reasoning was clear - he was scared and wanted to be protected. But what was there stopping him from completing his mission to the assassination squad he was on?
“I know what the papers are crow, and I know that you signed them” I heard scorpion say in a broken voice, ready to shed the tears I knew she was holding back. She asked him why, and all he could say was that she wasn’t waking up, it was just encase. A loud sob escaped Scorpion’s mouth and I angrily told crow that he had done enough.
“She’s my sister! I’m only watching out for her!” he told me. I was angry at Crow for what he had done. I was about to tell him what I thought of him, when Scorpion’s plea for him to leave was heard. I gently placed Scorpion back on the bed, feeling suddenly cold without her body close to mine, and kissed her forehead. I made my way to leave, and I told her she needed rest. I was shocked when her hands gripped my am and she clung to me, pleading that she didn’t want to be alone. I gave in and sat down in the chair once again.
“how do you do it? How do you continue to be so strong when you know that your sick?” I said sadly. I wasn’t excepting an answer, but I got one anyways.
“I never give up. I can never turn away from.. Hope” was what she said to me as she drifted off to sleep. I heard footsteps near the door and looked up to see Dusk and my brother there along with a doctor.
“Sir, visiting hours are over” the doctor said to me. I nod my head and quietly get up and walk to where my family was standing. I looked at Kaga and smiled slightly, placing a hand on his shoulder my voice was quiet as the door to her room was still open and I didn’t want to wake her,
“tomorrow” was all I told him, but I knew he understood. They followed me out and I saw Crow leaning against the building. I watched him, my eyes cold. I grabbed Kaga and pulled him towards me and whispered in his ear, “keep an eye on Dusk, I don’t trust him anymore” was what I said. I smiled as he nodded in understanding, I turned back towards the hospital and reentered the building as Kaga took our little sister home. I walked up to the nurse and asked her about Scorpion’s release date and was shocked with the answer,
“She’s free to go anytime, I just need someone that’s related to her to sign the papers” was what the nurse said. I frowned inwardly, I knew crow wouldn’t let her out, not with what’s been happening. I tried to think of a way to get her out of this place - I knew she hated it. I was surprised when Kaga’s voice rang out in my ears,
“He is related to her” was what he said. The nurse looked past me in surprise,
“And how is he related to her, Sir?” she asked him. The lie he told just slipped from his lips without hesitation,
“She’s his wife” was all he said. All he needed to say as the papers were given to me and I quickly signed them. The nurse stood up and went and got scorpion, helping her walk towards me. I watched as Kaga turned to leave as Scorpion reached me and nearly toppled over if it wasn’t for me catching her and lifting her into my arms. Scorpion’s voice, though heavy with weariness reached my brother’s ears,
“Kaga.. it’s okay now” she said, he looked at her in confusion as we walked towards home, Scorpion smiled as she rested her head on my shoulder, “I forgive you. It’s over” was all she said as sleep over took her.
