It was a serene and peaceful night; the moon had not yet crested the horizon but the burning stars filling the night sky provided plenty of light to delve deep into the shadows of the forest below.
The forest was silent except for the call of the insects; the other creatures had all settled in for the night, sleeping peacefully in their momentarily carefree world. Tomorrow would once again bring the inevitable struggle for survival, but for now all was forgotten in the serenity of the night.
Suddenly the ground shook violently, the insects went silent but the other denizens of the forest awakened at the roaring that was growing in the night. The ground rumbled and all could hear roaring growing closer, animals began to burst from their beddings and run through the forest. Rabbits ran next to great cats that would normally make a meal of the small furry creatures, but for now all that was forgotten in the terror of the moment.
The light in the forest grew brighter and redder as a large object burning with fire streaked down from the heavens. The strange object made a strange hissing noise as it plummeted to the ground striking with such great force that trees and dirt were tossed high into the air in a flash of fire.
When the dust settled, some of the woods were ablaze with small fires and a large crater sat at the center of the impact zone. A faint pulsating glow emanated from the crater for a few minutes; slowly some inquisitive animals crept slowly closer to the pit wondering what it was that had invaded their domain.
The glow faded suddenly to nothing and a faint hissing was heard; some animals nearby froze at the sound, others retreated completely. Slowly something rose from the crater; it was a hand, human in appearance, attached to an arm which rose up and then came down on the lip of the pit. Long fingers dug into the soft ground as it pulled itself up and another hand joined the first. With a heave something pulled itself from the crater and slowly stood upon the pit’s edge.
The nearby animals were frozen in fear at the sight of a man, for they sensed he was no ordinary man. Standing upon the edge of the pit the man looked about surveying what was now his domain; he smiled with a slightly evil twist to his lips.
“I have returned!” He said his voice holding a faint tone of malice.

(Ok… it is official that I am returning to RDI. I am sorry for my sudden and long absence but RL circumstances demanded it. But now I intend to return and do some RPing and some DMing.
I will continue with the Garayon Adventure if the players are still game. I would like to hear from all of them to gauge their interest.
But due to a lessening of my available free time, I will not be able to participate in all of the adventures in which I was playing, though I see that some of them are no longer running. I am glad to see that MDK made it out alive, though just barely.
I will look over the adventures and see which ones I will continue to play, but unfortunately I can’t play as many as before.
I don’t expect to start any RPing this week, though next week looks promising. I have a lot of reading to do to get caught up on some adventures still running; though I see I have been replaced in some of them, I do not blame anyone for that, it is only natural and understandable.
Well hope to stay awhile this time. I have missed the RDI and am glad to be back!)
