This one, and the one that will follow on Monday, are personal favorites of mine. They are based entirely on real events that happened in a tabletop session of mine.

LOL
"If you keep doing that, we'll end up dead, too!"
Yeah... I've heard that one once or twice, myself... and ya just gotta looooove when it happens.
Also... VOTE... there's a button right there on the same page as the comic!

oh yeah...
Yep. Classic. Its funny because all the players are usually frustrated but something about the combination of a player playing their character and putting the whole party in danger is satisfying to a DM. It couldn't be because DMs are naturally obsessively-passionate, sadistic role-players could it?... no that would be ridiculous!
Anyways, I'm always that player, haha. Part of me knows its going to end up in waking up the dragon and part of me just loves playing in character - it makes it way more interesting. I know I appreciate it when everyone does this... oh I see maybe that's why I've ended up the obsessively-passionate, sadistic DM.
Good comic!

Hmm
I remember a party I had like that once.
For some reason it ended with the orc barbarian dying because someone didn't want to kiss him.
I will never forget the words: "GOOD LORD YOU CANNOT EXPECT ME TO KISS THAT ORC!"

I had a char that was kind of the opposite... she was terrified of battle, her first one she spent crawling around on her hands and knees.
Best part was she was the healer... everyone was dying and she was too terrified to get close enough to do anything.
Eventually she started to get over that, especially once she realized that I had made her nearly impossible to hit, but even then she would not run into battle if she didn't have to.

Seems familiar...
I know I've been in a few similar situations... and I know I'll probably be in more in the future
One situation in particular comes to mind... where a Neutral Good Druid was trying to convince my True Neutral Ranger to go out of their way and rescue some captives from a goblin camp. Naturally, my character wasn't convinced, not because they didn't care... but rather because they were concerned about the goblins pursuing and causing a lot of damage to the forest that she was protecting.
Oh, did I mention a couple of those captives were other player characters that my character hadn't met?
Yep... playing in character is good... but sometimes it comes at the cost of these sorts of situations... oh well, what can you do?
To clarify, in the situation above, it was nighttime, so the goblins were sure to be using torches if they pursued.

I have one player who started the campaign in character. Nearly caused her to miss the campaign
I'm running a mixed nWoD set in London during the Victorian era and two of my players decided to play Sin-Eaters from White Wolf's newest addition to the game, Geist: the Sin-Eaters. Basically, they play characters that can see and comunicate with ghosts.
One of them is playing a former policeman turned private investigator, the other is playing a prostitute from the streets of London. The latter got contacted by a newly dead ghost, who wanted her help in finding the killer. So she goes to this investigator guy and asks him for help. His player decides to play her character and says "What do you think I am, charity?" Some arguements later (purely in character and didn't leave any players pissed off at each other), the prostitute leaves and the investigator remains in his office.
I ended up stopping the game for a few minutes so I could think of a way to get her character into the story
The worst kind of moments you decide to really play your role is when you decide your character doesn't want to follow the hook that starts the story.

I remember when a group of people all playing their characters caused us to not get a new PC for the game.
It was Yanamari's "Wardrums in Sendria" here on the Inn - the only evil campaign I have ever played in. There we were, a party of conniving, murderous jerks... and somebody (I don't even remember who the new player was supposed to be) decides that the best way to intro their new ranger is to have them sneak up on us.
Hello, evil party? It's a spy, guys! So, we subdue the would-be PC, then proceed to torture him to death for the information of who sent him to spy on us.
Whoops.

When whole parties play there characters...
This is one of the best strips yet.
Story time!
One of the funniest moments in gaming for me was when I played in a Dark Ages vampire game where we all started knowing that we were supposed to become vampires..
So the gm got this great idea to have us all roll up humans that would be turned in the first couple of episodes.
After 6 or so sessions of the PC's banding together to fight against all things going bump in the night.. It had become quite clear that none of the characters wanted to become vampires so the gm was left to have to re-write the campaign for humans vs. Dark ages villans.

just remembered
The first time I tried nWoD (I think it was the first time) the ST had us begin as human and then later turn into vampires. I was playing a geek who had seen too many vampire movies and read too much fiction on vampires. He thought he knew a lot about vampires, but when the time came to embrace the lot he got into an arguement with one of them over what vampires were really like. He had his ideas about what vampires were like and he wouldn't accept it as anything less than fact. Surely enough, the vampires didn't like him enough to turn him and I had to make a new character

Another great moment in 'Playing my character'..
One of the most remembered lines of any of my characters was in a star wars game.
My character... A smuggler (later turned Jedi) named Darren.. Was hired by rebel insurgents to take a covert ops operative (we only knew him by Jed) deep into imperial space where he was supposed to deliver critical information critical to the resistance there. We were Not fully informed before the mission started that the planet we were heading to was one of the places the imperial storm commandoes trained at.
When we Arrived we got into a rather nasty fire fight. We were spotted when landing and a group of sniper storm commandos had taken positions around the landing zone.
They waited patiently for us to shut down the ship, force fields and guns, and as we departed the ship. Jed took the first shot, a fatal blow to the head and an extended fire fight started up.
News of the fire fight made it to the rebel's and they came to our aid as we had managed to hold the assult long enough to start back up the shields and bring out some heavier weapons. Upon arriving we greeted the rebels, and the female commander came up to Darren and introduced herself and asked where Jed was.
I looked at my fellow players and apologized.
Darren turned to the young commander, "Jed? Jed's dead, baby!"
She was jed's wife. Things whent down hill.

Now that I think of it....
... most of the characters I've played in recent years have had a propensity for "throwing themselves in front of trains" (as Vanadia so eloquently put it at one point)... all as a result of me "just playing my character".
Hmmmmm.... Where's my cookie-cutter

Sorry... AGAIN.
I keep forgetting to check the site out like at least once a week but I just remembered.
I'm going to put reviews for number 14 and 15 in this one post.
As for 14, I thought it was pretty funny that they can't resist the fight.
As for number 15 They keep waking the dead.I also thought that that's what you should aim at: playing your character.
Good work again.
