Post I will

Today.

Sorry for the downtime. My little girls have been ill, one with with ear infection and the other with some strange fever thing. Both are fine now and my back (which was giving me hell thu-sun) is now almost as good as it was 10 years ago. But all this is probably TMI anyway.

But one Brandr post coming up!

I start my trip back from iraq today so will have limited if any connectin for a week or so. Goota go to Kuwait for a bit, then Ft Benning for a day or so then El Paso before finally heading to San Antonio.

Noctus will be happy to follow along with group consensus for the near future.

What's up?

Anybody out there posting? I think Derry needs some other posts to respond to before posting again.

sigh

Since I posted on April 18th, I have only four players post, and only two with actions. I am completely baffled here because I had such a good start with this campaign, but even the posts I am getting don't seem to have an action involved. Quips and commentary are great but I need to have movement to play the game.

Now I have asked before if I am not giving you enough to work with. No one spoke up. So I can only assume that half the group has lost interest, in which case I might as well close the game. Shame really because I have had such good tabletop with this module.

Speak up peeps, please.

I'm still in

If you want, Al, have Crow help Brandr move said table and where are Van and Meri's posts, are they still in the game??

Also didn't Dragonblood drop out?? I see him still listed as a player. Keeper should be home here in Texas within the next 2 or so weeks, or at least somewhere with better internet.

If we have lost players do what I do and recruit replacements, though I know you hate that. I'd hate to see this game fizz................

movin galong

I have been swamped with work and family stuff lately. Nothing bad, just lots of stuff going on. I am hoping to post today if I get a chance. Worse case - this weekend is a long one for us Canadians (The 24 weekend. Where we celebrate the 24 case of beer).

Sorry for the absence

My gaming time has sucked lately, what with there being a mere 24 hours per day, and work consuming too much of it.

I'll see what I can do this evening once the little one goes down for the night.

We don't need to have the mage play meatshield...I think I'm the most armoured and so I intend to step forward.

Sorry guys

I really missed the posts in the game after Derry's. I thought I had put on the notification for the game, but apparently hadn't. Not a good excuse I know, but in addition to work hell, I can't provide any better.

The choice is yours of course Al, but I'm willing to put up more (doesn't take much, does it?) effort should you wish to continue.

Sorry again guys for my lack of posting.

My bad

I thought I had already posted for the game but I know I was planning to but just got caught up in RL issues once more.
Will have a post up here in a few as I have it already written in my head .

Ok another problem

I could blame my short term memory probs for not posting when I should but that to me is a cop out. The real problem is never getting any kind of notifaction to any Roger DM'd game I have ever been in.

I have subscribed to this one, CWWLLO, and Rocinante but never get an email note telling me the game has been posted to. The only email update I get is to the CWWLLO Q/A but not to the other 2 Q/A's.

I want this game to continue for sure and I apologize for my lack of posting in this and your other two games Roger, and not to start bad mouthing but I think you sometimes give up on a game too soon. If some players are not posting do what I do recruit new ones. I know you don't like that but you'd be surprised how it can help change a game for the better.

In the end its your call to end or keep the game going, but I hope you reconsider calling it dead and hit it with some cardio shock treatment

Different styles for different folks

Tann, you like to swap players in and out of a game, and that works for you, but you need players that accept NOT being the creators of their characters. Personally I can't do it, as a whole, which is why I've struggled with Peter (frankly, if you had access to his background, you'd see he's something of a jerk, and I was trying to redeem him - oh well).

I wouldn't criticise a DM for his preferred style if I want to continue joining his games...just sayin'.

There are a number of players in this game, and only three posted in the last little while, including one with the least amount of free time (me)...so I think it is the players who killed the game, Alacrity just filled out the death certificate.

Since I can't rely on the notification process, I don't use it...personally, it only takes a minute to check the forums and see if a thread has updated. I know it can get frustrating to check , and check and see no updates, but hey, that's when you start nagging fellow players in the Q&A thread

Alacrity, you know I struggled with this character, and clerics always take me a little longer to draft a post (I remain unimpressed with clerical spells as a whole, not enough meat on the bone)but I will continue on if we suddenly get some posts from the others.

define too soon

I have been nagging and pushing players in this game since early February. I have asked if people need more from me, if RL is a problem to let me know and I will NPC or make arrangements. I have received nothing back until now when I end the game.

Incidently, the email notifier doen't work for me either. So I check the games as regularly as I can.

In case you hadn't realized it, I put a lot into my games. I draw maps by hand, I write out details I look at the party and created sub-plots based on the characters. I have to squeeze that in between work, kids, school, and everything else life has in store for me. When I start feeling like I'm getting nothing back, and I have posted three times about lack of posts - you accuse me of giving up. I can't play the game alone and when half the party is missing and some of those are moderators, I don't see the point of continuing.

In fact, this will probably be the last game I create. It is too frustrating to keep this up. I will play CWWLLO and ROC as far as I can but I won't bother with a new game on here until I figure out a gladiator based game where if you don't post after two rounds, you're dead. I'll work on that when I have some free time.

Ok I see my above post has been misconstrued somewhat.

First off my lady Vanadia I was in no way criticizing Roger for the way he does his games just stating the fact that where I try to keep my game going with “new blood” so to speak he does not. If I did not like his Dming style I sure as hell would not play in his games.
As for ‘likening to swap players’ that’s wrong I hate having to do that, however sometimes to keep my game going I have no choice but to do that. I have a good core of players at the moment and with YeOldes return it just got stronger.

Second Roger I enjoy the games you run and as a player in them for years now I know just how much time and effort you put into them and as a player I appreciate that. As for saying ‘too soon’ again it comes down to player replacement that’s all. I also agree with you and Van that in part it was my lack of posting that as you say killed it, and for that I again apologize. If in the end you 100% decide to kill it, as that now seems to be the case, I will still be available, like in the case of CWWLLO for a restart.

Again I apologize to both you and Vanadia if I caused irritation with my post, yet the words written in that post I still stand behind as they were not intended as a slur against anyone.
