Skari's Online Stories
So I've had this idea for a while and I'd like to hear some feedback.
In a similar vein as my attempted/failed webcomic, I am considering a website which will host written stories. I figured, drawing is something I am not all that good at, and I find it tiresome, so a webcomic is not a good idea for me to tell the story I want to tell.
So I came up with the idea of writing a story, a predetermined number of words once or twice per week, and post it online with each post a continue of the same story. You could call it chapters, but each post would have the same number of words, give or take 100 words.
I first considered 5,000 or even 10,000 words but my fiance told me that even 5,000 might be too much of a reading (at least online). Also, after consideration, 10,000 might be too much for a regular writing.
I'm thinking about starting this summer, posting maybe once or twice each week depending on how much time I have between a job (which I don't have), a BA-thesis (which I haven't really started yet and got delayed), and two gaming groups.
So, what are your thoughts on this? How many words should I post each time? Is this a good or a bad idea? Also, what colors were your socks this morning?

Didn't wear socks this morning, had day off, slept on couch all day.
Will get back to other questions tomorrow, need more couch sleep. Sounds neat though, detailed explanation to follow. I love lettuce.

Lettuce sucks...
I think it is a good idea but, you seem to have alot on your plate right now. Do you think you can pull it off and with 5000 words each time? It seems like alot to me. But then again, who am I? Just another voice in the dark.
It might be something you want to tackle once the who thesis thing is taken care of and out of the way. Just MHO.
Good luck either way!

Just my thought.
I'm new here so I'm not sure what's concidered normal length. But for me I find that I can write between 300 and 500 words in around an hour with reread edit and such.
I do it off line to a word doc for spell check and grammer help. Then I can post several times a week. These shorties are easy for me to write and read, I'm a slow reader. Also I'm not a trained typist, old hunt and peck. Maybe this could be an option and still get the RL stuff done too. Read my character intro of Erevan on the recruitment thread, The rolling darkness as an example.

first section
The first 'episode' of the story is ready. Took few hours to write it, but I think it looks kinda good. It is just under 3,000 words (2,733 to be exact). I won't make a website any time soon, though. I want to make few more episodes just to get this going first.

why not
give us a trial run. We read a lot of stuff anyways and the forum and webwork are already done. We'll probably be some of your major readers as well. So my suggestion start it off here. My other suggestion don't limit yourself to words. Have you ever seen a webcomic limited to words? Most of the ones I read aren't even limited to panels. Use the space necessary to give us the info you want to give us. What I mean is if you were doing a webcomic you would use what's necessary to tell that weeks joke or set the next weeks scene. In web writing do the same thing; tell your joke or set your scene. If just under 3000 words to finish the chapter then your only pushing the story to try to hit the 5000 and that messes with natural pauses and cliff hangers. It could ruin the story so don't do it.

Alrighty
The first part will be posted here. I'll take your advice into consideration and will think about not limiting myself. So here you have it,
